But they do tell us from the beginning that the Gongs retreated into that mountain and couldn't even defend allies like Zheng family. So they were just paper tigers and Wufeng was indeed stronger. We just got head faked by Ziyu's rebellious childish assessment about why are we hiding when we can take Wufeng on in jianghu. The truth is they couldn't. They just have a massive home turf advantage on their own mountain which barely saved them.
