Yeah I understand how he feels but his job as the emperor has to be bigger than that. So his mother's life is worth more than 30k soldiers that defend the border??? He doesn't even restrain her or stop her from keeping a private army of assassins... This is way worse than let them eat cake and it is how an empire falls... He may be a filial son but he sure as hell is a shit emperor.

I feel like Section 7 was neutered. Like the moment Section 8 rocked up, I knew they were gonna all get killed off but then they'd also get to do all the hard stuff... So the characters that moved me were all Section 8 characters - they had all the guts and got all the glory. And I felt Section 7 actually went backwards - I mean if Yuan Sr. didn't intervene they'd probably have let their emotions ruin the mission. I think writers shouldn't get so attached to their characters they can't bear to kill them off, which it sounds like is what may have happened in this case. It is still an amazing drama, so so funny I laughed till I cried. But it did have a feeling of Section 7 being MIA.

The horse scenes actually really cracked me up bc they were so so so fake. Overall I did enjoy it immensely it really brought home how much I miss simply terrific writing. I just so badly wanted to fire the director.

Exactly. It is just bat shit crazy that any Dowager Empress that is NOT a regent that can deploy enough troops to wipe out an army of 30k!!! Like at least have some common sense in plot design!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah I am not that satisfied with this aspect. Every time we get a strong woman story, they balance it out by making the villain a woman also. They just can't help themselves. Why can't a man be the bad guy? Throughout history they bullied and abused women... Why does every strong woman story ultimately boil down to women abusing women? Think Anle...

Well, I don't think he can just ignore what happened if he discovers she was culpable. 30k lives were lost - this is high treason we are talking about, not even a Dowager Empress and mother of an Emperor can survive that. That is why she is pursuing him to the death. It has reached the point of kill or be killed. I have no respect for the Emperor for knowing and covering it up. He is unworthy.

I've never liked her in any of her roles. But this one is well played.
