In Chinese mythology both yao 妖 and mo 魔 are often translated as demon but yao 妖 does not necessarily imply evil. They are just non-human supernatural beings that usually cultivate from animal spirits. Whereas a fairy or xian 仙 usually cultivates from humans. There is a more detailed discussion here:

I would also add, it is only because of Christianity and Christian tradition that demons are associated with evil in the West. Many ancient civilisations including the Greeks, Hindu, Egyptian etc do not consider demons to be evil beings, they are just occupants of the underworld.

But so far to my knowledge, the courts have never found the internet companies directly liable for any of this. I think she is playing a character that is much closer to her real self in this drama. She is multi-lingual and very smart. In real life, she always sounds a lot more down to earth, sensible and mature than her past characters. I think they dub her all the time bc she just can't bring herself to talk like her sucked helium xianxia voice dubber. She is a properly trained actress with good line delivery and who speaks standard mandarin with no traces of local dialect. She doesn't need to be dubbed at all.

Well the legal system in China is quite different from that of the West. The prosecution wins 99.96pct of the time when it comes to trial. And they can detain witnesses and suspects indefinitely - pretty much until they confess. There are no juries to play to and most high profile trials are closed processes although they actually live telecast non-sensitive cases. Defence attorneys have a bit more success in civil cases, which are most often solved by arbitration but the judges are actually the stars in those cases. Its interesting but very different from what you may be used to in other jurisdictions.

This is a surprisingly good drama.
