Chinese stories like to play with the character names. I think Wuxin and Wushuang are quite clear but there are several characters for Jie so I had to pay attention to the subtitles to see which one it was.

It is now quite clear that Langya wang's son Xiao Lingchen is behind a lot of the mess. My guess is that he was probably working with the other mastermind who hasn't been revealed. Langya wang was the true chosen heir and it is quite likely that his name was on both scrolls and not just the one destroyed. So Xiao Lingchen is a hidden contender to the throne. Langya wang did not intend to rebel, it was always his son. Had he wanted the throne he would have accepted the scroll years ago and there was never any movement to make him emperor until his son came of age. He allowed himself to be executed to forestall a bloodbath and he took the fall to save his son. I guess possibly the 5 Eunuch's shifu and Xiao Se's shifu are both alive and are somehow involved in this whole mess.

Prince Chi and whoever is helping him is actually very smart. By luring General Ye and Xiao Lingchen out into the open, he gets rid of the entire Langya faction all at once. He needs to eliminate them so that there are no longer any threats to the Mingde line of the throne. Then he just has to defeat all of his brothers to win the throne. He probably plans to unite with his brothers' armies and allies to defeat the Langya faction and then when they win, he will turn against them. Of course he still has to get his dad to put his name on at least one of the two scrolls.

The emperor is at death's door and the throne is up for grabs. Even in ordinary times, it is not easy to indict a prince. In times like this it is even harder bc you can't do it without being accused of be allied with one of the prince's rivals. Prince Chi has never openly shown himself other than to Xiao Se and Xiao Se has a conflict of interest. He cannot credibly accuse Prince Chi even if he was a witness. The 9th prince was caught in the act and he is dead so he is an obvious fall guy. He is also for all public appearances allied with the Prince Bai so it will be hard to make any accusation that he is Prince Chi's man stick.

They are cut into 70 minute episodes so if you are worried about extensive content loss, don't be.

Yeah I just think this story is so interesting on multiple levels that it is a shame to have the thread hijacked by the least interesting topic whichever side you are coming at it from.

He is helping Chi wang set a trap for General Ye. Once they revolt he will be able to eliminate all remnants of Langya wang. His son is a threat to any prince that inherits the throne. Like his shifu before him, he does not want to be banished to the mausoleum when the emperor dies. I think none of them do.

Oh this by a long mile. I think WRTW may have been a true contender if it stuck to the original IP but the way it was adapted outright plagiarising entire arcs from Royal Nirvana is not only shameful it destroyed the original story.

I don't think she is well written or well acted either but she get like 5 minutes of screen time in the last 2 episodes... it just doesn't seem to be worth this level of discussion or emotion.

Because of their tight grip on access to the emperor and first hand knowledge on all affairs of state in many times their influence and power exceeded that of the emperor.

Well from the second book onwards many characters are not Chinese.. Maybe Netflix is adapting all the books. It looks like Tencent is only doing Book 1 here bc the Book 2 characters are not in the cast list.

I only watched the first 3 episodes. It is very well done but I think its not that easy for non-book readers to follow.
