Yeah - I actually really like the actor playing him as well. There are so many cool characters in this show. I also like Tang Lian shifu Baili Dongjun, the alcoholic first city master as well... I think he has the most fun!

All this speculation about sabotage is interesting but the honest truth is more likely something much more boring like the production just simply did a bad job, didn't get the right shots and mucked up the editing. The director is not super well regarded and neither is the screen writer. They are both guilty for a bunch of very forgettable productions.

This sounds remarkably similar to A Girl Like Me. Jan 11 premier.

Most of the criticism I have seen is on Yuqi's performance. In general, Wang Hedi is perceived to be doing a good job. But I don't think the reviews are super bad, its just not as well received as LBFAD was.

It gets better at around 14.

I don’t find the villain that well written here or especially compelling. I think Peter Ho overacts.

You have to get to about 14 to see some plot emerging.

To me Blood of Youth is a high fantasy wuxia. It takes place strictly in the mortal realm although it does have high fantasy elements of a xianxia. Aside from that, there are no immortals or reincarnations/multiple lives which are core defining characteristics of a xianxia. I don't know the story but people who do claim that Xiao Se will recover his ability to fight eventually. It is very much like SSS which I also consider a high fantasy wuxia although some also describe as a xianxia. I actually don't think it matters so much so call it what you like.

Yes he was also the emperor in Nirvana in Fire which has clearly inspired large chunks of the plot.

Sword Snow Stride is most like this in terms of storytelling but the fight scenes have a lot of slo mo. Ever Night is also similar story wise and has the best fight scenes, a lot better than this and SSS. Fox Volant also has excellent fight scenes but it is a low fantasy wuxia so not much CGI. And Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty as well. WOH also has great fight scenes but The Untamed was shot by a director with very poor action camera angles which does not make for great fight scenes.

I think that is somewhat explained in the marriage competition. If Xiao Se harbors any desire to restore his status, his marriage has political implications and is not entirely up to him to decide.

The fourth is not revealed yet but I think someone already spoiled it somewhere but I closed it quickly and didn't read it.

I don't think Wuxin's plans are that clear yet. He has already assumed his role as master of his father's sect but it seems he is torn between that and his monastery. I suspect his mother may be still alive and he could be trying to do what his father failed, which is to free her from the emperor. His mother is like Helen of Troy - his father invaded Beili to get her back. But we know he lost and that is how Wuxin became a hostage and their sect became known as a demon sect.
