They made MRF daughter too young to be a love interest so I assume she is written off. As for Yuan Ziyi she isn't that likeable in the novel and subsequent adaptations have really made her even more unlikeable. This is the only version where she comes across so well. My impression from the books is she was Hu Fei's first and probably true love - his relationship with Miao Ruolan developed too fast and I think it was quite shallow. That said, don't put too high hopes this ends HEA for him and Yuan Ziyi - a lot of fans of the original works won't like it. They may be more receptive to a HEA between Hu Fei and Cheng Lingsu bc she is always made to be much more likeable than she was in the novel. In the novel she is an ugly girl. I don't say that in a mean way that is how Jin Yong described her. She made up for her lack of good looks by being good and clever. No one has ever cast a remotely unattractive actress to play this character.

Yes you are watching Snowy Mountain, the sequel. There are many TV adaptations that combine both books and bc the original Snowy Mountain ending is open and therefore not popular, they often change the Snowy Mountain ending to make it conclusive. Jin Yong originally left it open but he was ok with adaptations choosing to end it in different ways, that was his intention. My understanding is this drama does not have the rights to Snowy Mountain so MRF's daughter is not going to be a love interest. It will probably stop at the ending of The Young Flying Fox. If it stays true to the original Hu Fei will not be with either girl. They could change it but during shooting they said they wouldn't.

😂😂😂 Let me save you some time. The short answer is Hu Fei ends up with nobody in this Young Flying Fox story. He meets MRF's daughter Miao Ruolan in Snowy Mountain and falls for her instead. But he fights with MRF and the story just ends in a cliffhanger. The writer wants the reader to decide if HF kills or is killed by MRF or if they make up and it ends HEA. It is up to you. That is all in the Snowy Mountain book which @lenje linked above.

The book on Amazon is The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain 雪山飞狐 which is the sequel and more than half of it is about Hu Yi Tao. It is also a horrible translation, google translate could do a better job. This drama is an adaptation of The Young Flying Fox or 飞狐外传. It is the prequel to Snowy Mountain and I don't believe it has been translated. But Legend of Condor Hero, which is Jin Yong's most popular work is now translated by a proper translator it is called A Hero is Born. I would recommend reading that instead if you want to read a martial arts novel. I haven't read the whole English version I just skimmed it and while it is not perfect, I am quite happy with the translation as it captures the essence of Jin Yong.

Its the only logical explanation BUT... this is a show that flaunts nekkid...chokes... men with washboard apps... I think no need to think hard about this drama just enjoy visual feast...

This is a super well known novel so its not a spoiler to say Jin Yong did not write a HE for any of the couples. This is not a romance focused story so it should not break your heart.

No there are two novels. In the prequel which was written later, one girl becomes a nun and another dies to save his life. In the sequel he falls for Miaos daughter but the story ends in a cliffhanger. The end of their story and the romance is what you want it to be.

Tian Guinong is definitely one of the main villains. The creepy guy in the cave I don't remember anymore but maybe someone else does. The problem with this story is there are a gazillion characters, I only remember the main ones.

If I remember correctly he smeared poison on both swords hoping either/both of them would die. I think he is after a hidden treasure map. Looks like the treasure arc is written out of this version. He seduces Nanlan bc he thinks she has the map (which she does). I don't remember the ages anymore but I think Miao is younger than Hu Yidao.

Yes he was great in that as Yang Xiao, the best one I have seen to date. Tbh he plays MRF very similarly. This has been criticized as MRF of the book is not quite so arrogant and haughty whereas Yang Xiao totally was.

Bathroom breaks, snack breaks... etc etc... characters like this have a purpose as well. LOL!

I think it’s more about how Chinese society is still quite conservative and less so censorship. But recent modern dramas have gotten quite racy, esp when it comes to male nudity…

She is in a pretty important character in the Fu Kangan arc.
