I only listen to dialogue I barely even look at the Chinese subs so if the voice acting is bad I am not a happy person. Ren Jialun seems to have kicked his heavy sighing (hope I don't jinx it) which I just hate so that is progress. The volume and editing isn't great either but even Li Qin is just shrill in places that has nothing to do with that. Some of these actors will still opt to pay the voice dubbers out of their own pockets. Possibly including the likes of Xu Kai bc his Canto accent is very very heavy. He is going to have to put in repeated attempts to get his lines right. I guess they could also cut down his lines in total. There is always a lot of anime and manga work for the voice dubbers and also side character roles. The regulation only impacts main roles.

Due to regulation change requiring the leads to dub themselves going forward, we are going to have to get used to really cringey and bad voice dubbing for at least 1-2 years. Most actors have not had to do it for years and the ones who have not been formally trained as actors or who speak with hints of local dialect such as Ren Jialun are going to struggle. Even the ones who went to acting school are probably pretty rusty unless they regularly dub themselves (most don't). But they will all get better with more practice and training over time. It is a good regulation change but we will have to suck up some pretty bad voice acting for some time.

Yeah but the setting and plot seems quite creative - let's hope it gets better.

To be honest, its too exaggerated and I find it tries so hard to be funny it actually ends up being boring. I will try to watch the first 6 bc I quite like both Li Qin and Ren Jialun but this needs to get A LOT better for me to not drop it.

I think for most dramas you can - with the caveat that if it becomes hot they pay wall it. They did that with Luoyang and they just put some of the LBFAD episodes behind a paywall.

I saw what looks like one in the opening trailer. He didn't kiss Bai Lu.

You should be able to watch slowly. But if it ends up being a huge hit, they may put it behind a pay wall.

Well to native speakers his line delivery is poor, he sighs heavily and traces of his local dialect is quite obvious. He is one actor I personally kind of prefer to be dubbed. I am not saying he is terrible but his past dubbers were much better voice actors. So far he shows some improvement in this one.

I believe he is dubbing himself.

Tonight's battle scenes that seamlessly weave the past and present are just phenomenal. Idk how they can possibly top this but I sure as hell hope they try!!! Episode 22 is the best of the series so far!!!

I don't see anything wrong with comparing two roles by the same actor but you don't have to engage if you don't enjoy doing so. I liked both dramas I was just pointing out I like the chemistry between the leads in this one more.

In any case CM is definitely coming back - I just hope he is accretive to the existing chemistry or at least will not detract from it.

These are cliched and rather melodramatic roles and expressions, something they should perfect by the time they graduate from drama school. I would say he was a pretty good student. Let's see if he can hold up in longer shoots with more complex characters and nuanced emotions. Let's just say any day he's a lot better than all those idols they pick off of variety talent shows with no acting training whatsoever and parachute into lead roles. Like Miss Pouty from Heroes.

Yeah I am not generally a fan of short dramas. He needs a good proper lead role.

Sadly this is his only main role. Starring his chest.

Hmmm... that's a bummer. This boy needs some better roles cause it sounds like he may have gotten at best 5 mins screentime there.
