Yes I agree I don’t like dramas that overly focus on the protagonists esp when they have no content and just have them rehash silly and boring love misunderstandings. But I do think Jin Yong went overboard with the sects on this one I really can’t remember any of them. It’s not like LOCH and Heaven sword where the sects were distinct and memorable.

Forget Nan Lan she is the character that is really getting whitewashed. Like she was in the Feng mansion when her father killed the father and son and framed Hu Fei. In the book she just watched but didn’t intervene but in the drama they make her distracted by her shifu and come too late. It’s a big change to make her a less selfish and amoral person.
