I have been watching this drama, but in the last two weeks, the conspiracy has become so convoluted, and at episode 31, I have no idea of the plot's direction. What happened to Long Bo during the mayhem and madness?
The constant flashbacking or flashbacks in the middle of an engrossing conversation or pivotal moment, breaks the momentum. The scenes seem to run on and on because of these inclusions.
The best elements of the drama are the music score and the silent opening credits (...there is no customary singing or music). Zhang Xiao Jing is the one man army fighting machine. Essentially, he is Terminator 1, a species that will exist from ancient time to 2029, and beyond.
I have watched twelve episodes of Longest Day in Chang'An, and so far, the production values are very high. The silent opening credits overlaying the "live" scene is a brilliant concept. Absent from those first two minutes, are the loud singing and/or music with the flash recap of the drama. The end credits are longer, but the music fits the tone of the drama.
Peacekeepers Corp is reminiscent of modern day MI-5, with Li Bi and Zhang Xiao Jing, the ancient versions of M or Q, and James Bond, respectively. Zhang Xiao Jing's fight scenes are swift and deadly, and he is the "wild card", the one that no one can control. Kudos to Lei Jia Yin, for effectively playing the super spy army captain.
I hope Viki can speed up the subbing process, so we see the ending no more than one week after the final broadcast.
He looked like Jin Han in the beginning. There were so many good looking men in the Guardian cast, and they didn't want the supporting actors to upstage the lead actors. I didn't like his costume and hair. Even Crow Queen annoyed me, and the actress looks pretty.
I'm pretty sure Huang Shuo is the guy with burned face and black mask.
That's right. As you mentioned it, I could see his face with the mask, in Guardian. I just finished rewatching it a week ago. He was one of my favorites.
I'm also surprised since it's apparently very popular. But I think it will be picked up soon
I think that Viki is getting bombarded with the C-dramas, that they can't match the pace. Some dramas sit on the shelf so long, the production companies could recruit local foreign language university students to sub the dramas in the meantime. The students could earn points toward their degrees.
If the drama production chiefs could make an effort to trim the drama, and remove the idle chatter and filler and flashbacks, and pack all the flashbacking memories upfront, and dial down the singing volume and frequency, the end product might really be awesome and impressive, and competitive production-wise with western dramas.
I might reach 100, by the time that they air this drama.

Minho looked cute with his military buzz cut.
Purple Hair Villain's name.
