I have been saying this for a long time - as a European who had plenty of Asian exes - that this 'filial piety" bullshit and the obsession with blood-related family even if it is an abusive cesspit is a cancerous tumour of Asian societies and they should forever bin it to the rubbish tip of history instead of clinging to it as if it was a valueable tradition.

That sounds pretty satisfying indeed. I hope they keep this in the screen version.

Thanks. And what did the father react?

Can someone help this adult European woman understand, why these grown ass Asian men can't let their parents down?…
This time it is worse than just a toxic parent. Pitak is a powerful authority figure of the higher ups who has the leverage to eradicate or destroy Wayu.

Yeah, lets hope the dead person we saw in the preview isnt Saeng, eh.
I think it is the usual misleading scare tactic of previews. Dying from a shoulder shot would be quite unlikely.

I think he is working for a third party, maybe Saithairn’s parents.

The actor (Jay) is so attractive...The main leads have a great chemistry but the rooftop scene in ep 2 was unnecessary.…
Not only unnecessary, it makes no sense. Why did Jay beat up Sun?

Don’t wanna fucking watch Krit on his “let me die” destruction route, I’m gonna flip the fuck out like…
"I will never understand how your kid harming himself is better than him being gay, someone needs to explain it to me."

Because they sooooooo muccchhhh lovvvvvve their kids and they are worried about what the world will say, strictly for their kids's sake, of course, never for their own selfish prejudices, never, oh noooo.
So striclty out of groundbreaking parental love and worry they wreck their kids' lives themselves. That's so much better, isn't it?

But once the said kids finally kill themesleves these fucking loving parents could cry at the funeral so loudly and expect everyone's heart to break for their loss, like in UWMA. Fuck cares they made their kids' lives a living hell while the poor ones were still alive.

If I understood what you wrote above correctly, Pitak is going to be hated by everyone around from then on till probably the end. That scenario is something I could be quite content with.

I have not read the novel but I have my two cents this POS human garbage is not gonna die and assuming this story has a happy end he will be instantly forgiven. I hate nothing more, and viscerally, than this in Asian dramas.

I know it is too much to ask from an Asian drama to have an awful father die in agony, since it never happens, but this would be a nice exception.

I want to preface that I am LOVING this show, and I am holding onto that final scene having “not happened”…
Chen Hai Wei doing things haphazardly, recklessly and without involving others into it is actually very much in line with his character.

But this is not a criminal justice court. The debate is not about who's going to prison for the crime. No one in their right mind would say it is not the father who has to. The issue is Sun's moral responsibilty and his contribution to the tragedy.

And who defended the debtor? And does his greater reponsibility mean Sun has no responsibility? What is the point of this argument other than trying to minimise Sun's part in the outcome?

It is actually quite hilarious to see people in the comment section wallowing in cognitive dissonance and trying to make loan shark job seem like that of a postman or a shop assistant, trying to justify him like "he was only doing his job", "he did not want to cut the kid, only threatened to kill her" (mamma mia, ONLY), "he felt bad for doing this" (where the hell did he???!), "the debt must be paid back to the mafia". The mind boggles. If he was a marginal thug character doing this in Knock Out or in Love Like a Bike they would hate his guts but since he is a glamorous BL main lead all of a sudden nothing is his fault.

I am not saying that Sun is irredeemable or that we could not understand his reasons why he became an underdog, but he should reflect on his past actions for the actions themselves a lot more, and not only because he lost his family. What I loved about Jack and Joker that it portrayed the personal dilemmas and self-deprecating of poor people in the spiral of underworld, but so far Sun shows little to no of these. If his mother and little brother were not taken away from him he would probably have no remorse at all. It is only episode 1 so I give him the benefit of doubt, this might happen later in the show. But the revenge plan is already a very easy escape route to shift all the blame on Bank (regardless of how nasty character Bank is).
