how are people so dense and stupid that they don't even realize what jim meant then proceed to call him a homophobe?…
You should have got used to that MDL is the hot bed of purist, black and white thinking virtue signallers who love to jump to conclusions knee jerk and express moral judgements from the high horse without imagining how would they be in the characters' shoes.
Tough call. If they had met in college, they had been "dating" for 14-15 years when Beam died at the age of 34.…
How do we assume he died 6 years ago only? And why should we think she was picked by the parents so many years ago? He may have pretended to be a bachelor who has not yet found the right one.
Well, am I the only one thinking that Beam may not have been cheating on Jim, yet he was posturing with a woman his parents set up for him? He was going home to his parents from time to time and he may well have been in the closet.
Assuming they go together which I doubt, not as a couple for sure.
I thought about Kiyoi's idol status and the general South East Asian star system that insists on their stars being single for the sake of delulu fans. A class reunion might extend the level of PDA Kiyoi can afford.
They were both drinking at the party, but Uea was more drunk, at least that is how it seemed to be presented.…
"Reckless"? "Privilege"? Seriously, just get over yourself.
No, not just me, it has been true to all my sex partners and everyone else inclusively.
Alcohol does not initiate metamorphosis and does not transform ANYBODY into someone else. You do not become attracted in drunken state to someone you are not attracted to when you are sober. It helps you ease up, drop your inhibitions and enhance your self-confidence, but it does not change you. Black out drunk is a different issue, and that is clearly not the case here.
As for the reggressive and idiotic laws of US I have stated my opinion above, I don't know much about the Korean legislation but if rape case charge was moderated because the perpetrator was drunk then it is wrong.
Drunk sex is a part of life and has always been. If two (or more) people decide to have a booze and sex afterwards, that is nobody else's business but theirs. If you do wish not to practice it, it is totally up to you, but you have no right to butt into others' business.
Hats off to Riku and especially Yusei for this confrontation scene. What a powerful dramatic zenith and the perfect sum up of Kiyoi’s desperation to make himself an ordinary love and partner in life for Hira.

US laws are weird and reggressive. This board seems to be predominated by such American viewers who seem to think that the world revolves around the US and their stupid laws. It is spectacularly rampant when it comes to drunk sex or age consent in shows, and they feel entitled to interfere and acclimate their standards. One of the most atrocious forms of cultural imperialism I have ever seen. Personally to me a country with such insane gun-carrying regulations and abortion bans (in some states) for pregnancies resulted by rape or incest is certainly not a norm to follow, but even so I doubt they have reggressed that much to penalize every drunk sexual intercourse as rape.
I am a middle-aged guy who had more drunk sex than sober in my life. Like I said above at least 80% of my sexual intercourses involved booze, sometimes mutually, sometimes only me was drunk, sometimes the other way around, so don't lecture me about alcohol consumption or drunk sex. As long as the person is conscious and able to have a lucid conversation with you, then they are able to give consent. It is not rocket science. Whoever says that being drunk and giving consent are mutually exclusive is either just plain stupid or never been drunk or never had sex or probably all of these.
Drunk sex is a part of mankind since forever, that is what bars, night clubs and parties are there for. People drink to lower their inhibitions and then have sex with whoever they like. I am getting sick up to the back teeth with the puritannical moral code preachers here. If you don't like drunk sex then feel free no to practice it, but stop telling others what to do or what not to do. None of your business.

I am getting tired of being lectured about alcohol consumption by prudes. I am a middle-aged guy and I have had my spare of booze in my life, including drunk sex. At least 80% of my sexual intercourses involved booze, sometimes mutually, sometimes only me was drunk, sometimes the other way around. I am not the 14 year-old schoolgirl who does not know the difference between incapacitation and intoxication and to whom you can sell the fairy tale that alcohol transforms you to someone else. It does nothing but lowers your inhibitions and makes you do things you are willing to do anyway, but with less reservations. If someone is black out drunk that is a completely different story, but that is not the case here, neither it is in most cases when MDL puritans have meltdown about it. And no, in most civilized countries alcohol consumption is no excuse for crimes.
He actually begged for the sex. If that's not consent I don't know what is. Thanks for explaining it to the prudes.
A considerable fraction of the BL audience (potentially virgin schoolgirls who have never consumed alcohol) seem to genuinely believe that alcohol is a kind of love potion that initiates metamorphosis and transforms you into someone else. You do not have sex with someone you are not attracted to just because you are drunk.
For me I find it difficult to understand whether it's raping or not. In the novel Uea says: hold me tight, don't…
They were both drinking at the party, but Uea was more drunk, at least that is how it seemed to be presented. But let's say that King was totally sober while Uea was drunk. Where did people get the crazy and absurd idea that you cannot have consensual sex with a drunk person if you are sober? It is totally fine as long as the drunk party is conscious and knows and wants what they are doing. Just like here.
Yes this is true. This is not rape. You see, even in some scenes Uea actually enjoyed it. Time stamps: 2:092:272:372:44This…
If you scroll through the comment section, according to some weirdos you are a rapist if you do not refuse the sexual advances coming from a drunk person. The mind boggles.
Once again a comment section that needs to be avoided in the future as it seems. Once again the schoolgirls who love calling everything rape because it leaves them room for virtue signalling jump on the bandwagon one after another without watching properly.
- What I'm doing wrong? - You didn't - I didn't... so why you act like this? - What do you mean by..."acting like this"? - You didn't talk to me. You avoided me - I didn't. I just don't have anything to talk with you - YOU HATE THAT YOU SLEPT WITH ME - Why did you bring it up? - Why not? - You and me... - Just forget it! Just do as if it never happened. - BECAUSE IT WAS ME? THAT MAKES YOU DON'T FEEL THE SAME? - IT WAS MY FAULT. I'M TOO RECKLESS.
Seriously how dumb one has to be not to grasp from the dialogue above (it is clear from the conversation already, but it is even more clear if you watch the scene) that a guy overwhelmed by his cheating bf and abusive but demanding mother on a drunken night decided to give in for another guy he has aways considered an uncaring playboy - but to whom he has always been attracted, yet until now he has managed to resist - and now he regrets his decision the day after, because he feels he lost his dignity? You just need a little more comprehension skills than a hamster to get it.
One more for the schoolgirls who probably have never sipped a glass of beer. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions and helps you to do things you want to do but you are afraid of doing (for various reasons) when sober, and not things you dont want to do.
To all non book readers this is a very helpful breakdown of ep 1 if you are confused with the fast moving timeline,…
Irrespective of how differently or less well the plot was handled in the show, it should be obvious for anyone with 2 brain cells that the sex was totally consensual and Uea is upset the day after because he gave in to King.
Another show that is likely to be lambasted by the stupid consent police for no reason. Uea clearly wanted to have sex with King, he lowered his inhibitions by drinking and he only freaked out the day after because he had given in for a guy he has always thought to be an uncaring player.
