The House of Happy Bell were Hemingway stayed is the same location of the hospice from Lion No Oyatsu. 😅
I just noticed this!!! XD pretty funny, the house looks cool so I can imagine why they chose it. Also recently found out its also the house in Grand Blue
So I actually looked into it thanks to the commenter Crimson Rain and well.... It is the same as Youths in the Breeze. The same actors and story. So not sure this drama page should exist since Youths in the Breeze already contains it as one of its stories. It is double on MDL now. For those who want to check: https://mydramalist.com/683209-youths-in-the-breeze
The first 4 episodes are extremely creative and welldone since its all synced. It starts very strong with the first character walking through some very claustrophobic hallways and the mystery still being fresh. First episode really makes you feel like theres hiding something in that house. Set design is fantastic. I feel like eventually you do get more familiar with the home and the synced character perspectives which does take away a lot of the tension. Then you just wanna know what happened but that horror feel of first episode did stay with me. It's like seeing a game character in a horror game since the camera never cuts away.
I watched the first episode and well I didn't expect THAT. That first scene and opening I was totally unprepared for lol. The dude really loves his artform and octopus. But yeah contains typical otaku stuff so avoid if you don't like those sorts of themes.
It's on the usual jdrama host sites if you're looking for it. A lot of jdramas still aren't as easily accessible as cdramas (Youtube, WeTv, iQiyi) and kdramas (Viki, Viu, Netflix).
First episode was some wild stuff. Didn't expect that ending. He kinda gives that cult leader vibe though and that's dangerous for the people choosing to take interest in him. I think it'll be interesting.
I don't like creepy dolls so episode 1 wasn't the greatest viewing experience for me personally but I see the point of the show. Showing how people have their own unique ways of getting intimate with others.
Watched episode 1&2. It's a short drama anyway so easy to check out. Curious to see how this ends up and if the victims of cheating will team up. Will admit the acting is good since it makes me frustrated at the characters already.

''sigh, im kind of sick of these "modern girl goes into ancient times" especially if its a video game'' Its videogames because of restrictions on themes like timetravel within the country producing these dramas. Apart from a few lucky ones that are allowed to do the timetravel theme (which is like 1 cdrama a year) most cdramas will have to use the videogame/vr world explanation to be allowed to air their story. These media regulations have been here since like 2017, it's nothing new and has influenced the way cdramas are produced.
''why can't they make female leads of girls who actually LIVED in that time''
As for why they choose to use modern girls. It's because they want the viewers to find a relatable main character they could imagine themselves as. A girl from ancient times realistically has VERY different priorities and grew up learning rules/traditions that we don't adhere to in modern time. Like for example being accepting of arranged marriage.
Cdramas definitely do not always resort to just getting a modern girl. A lot of cdramas just use a girl from the same timeperiod. Examples: Mengfei Comes Across, Chef Fang, The Story of Ming Lan, The Story of Yanxi palace, Cupid of Chou Dynasty, The Flame's Daughter, A Girl Like Me, A Love So Romantic, Jiu Liu Overlord, My Dear Destiny, The Romance of Hua Rong, Truth or Dare, Oops! The King is in Love, In a Class of Her Own, The Chang'an Youth, Dr. Cutie, The Heiress, Celestial Authority Academy, I Will Never Let You Go, General's Lady, The Sleepless Princess, Legend of Yun Xi, For Married Doctress, Fake Princess.
As for requiring reason for magic/charm/worldrule systems in short historical romcoms. I never really considered historical romcoms to be the types of dramas to have to do that considering their shorter lenght. If I want a more explained magic system I just check out Xianxia cdramas like Love & Redemption. But yeah they often don't go into it in historical romcoms as much cause the main goal is the romance.
Yeah the story of ''video game world'' is not new but it doesn't have to be original as long as the chemistry between the characters works. It's the same with ''ancient guy in the modern day'' cdramas. It's overdone but at the end of the day it really depends on how well the drama producers do and if the actors and actresses act good.
