How am I liking drama land? I am absolutely loving it! I am new to dramas and only started watching them earlier this year because my Korean friend who was aware of my interest in K movies, told me to give dramas a go and although I thought it would be wrong for a guy to watch dramas...I am actually hooked now big time lol!
Right now I am thinking of starting two more dramas- King2Hearts and That Winter The Wind Blows.
Since you love tearjerker dramas, you would absolutely love Padam Padam whenever you decide to watch it. It's just incredibly different because unlike most other dramas, it's not set in Seoul, nobody is filthy rich and there is a lot of reality + beautiful soundtrack.
Another great tear jerker I would recommend with a good plot is Queen of the Game, it stars Jin Mo Joo and Lee Bo Young, there is lots of melodrama, lovely songs...and just like Padam Padam, it's seriously addictive so you may need lots of tissues haha! :P
Oh I kinda stopped with Animes now, the last one I watched was Gungrave which I loved, but now I have switched to Kdramas lol.
Is 'So Close', the movie with Qi Shu and Seung Heon Song?

What I mean is that Saving Private Ryan was rated by a lot of Americans as the best war movie (even though it was over hyped big time), but as soon as Tae Guk-Gi came out, it was said to have taken a dump on SPR and is now rightly acknowledged as the best war movie in the World.
The director Je-Kyu Kang was later invited to the US to help them in creating war movies with the same high standards.
I wouldn't remember the names of Pakistani drama actors either to be honest, but I remember seeing my mother watching them a lot and there was always a sad song in the background and lots of ladies crying all the time...it used to give me a headache lol!

I have seen Hotel Rwanda, it was a good movie and Don Cheadle gave a top performance! I do agree however that war movies tend to be very sad and sometimes even hard to watch...but if there is one war movie that I would recommend to anybody, it has to be Tae Guk-Gi: The Brotherhood of War (the Korean movie that destroyed Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan).
Oh trust me, Sign gets really good after episode 4...it really picks up and it actually educates the viewer on a number of real life topics.
http://www.drama.net/sign (good site for movies and dramas)
Oh I don't watch Pakistani dramas, only Korean lol! My mum used to watch them, I've only ever seen one Pak drama, not sure if you have heard of it...it's called 'Bharday Jholi'.
Haha chubby actors, that's so true and let's not forget the big moustaches lol!
That reminds me, I had a crush on this Pakistani Christian actress named Mona Lisa...I think I still do lol!
Have a great weekend! :)

Lol most of my movies are not even related to war themes, maybe 12 max if you are referring to the K movies from my list?
But having said that, war movies are the ones that go on to become epics and definitely worth a watch. I usually prefer revenge thrillers and martial arts movies to be honest, but I also like romance movies from South Korea.
As for dramas...I am yet to watch a J drama, but I have been thinking of starting Hanzawa Naoki and 1 Litre of Tears and I've only just noticed that you gave them both 10/10, so maybe I should def check them out soon :)
By the way, when you say you like Japanese dramas for medical and suspense themes...there is actually a good Korean one called 'Sign', it's a VERY good show about forensics, corpses and murder investigations with no melodrama aspect. I think you will enjoy this one. Kim Ah-Jung from 200 Pounds Beauty is one of the lead actors and delivers a great performance.
Wow you even watch Pakistani dramas? Chincha? :O

Yeah that is true, so maybe I should find a wife who takes interest in dramas or maybe I could force her into watching them lol!
Oh, a-nae means wife in Korean and the other word is chipsaram.
Oh you lived in London before? Chincha? So are you originally from Norway? Yeah it would be great to visit every now and then, it's always lovely around Central London during the x-mas period and you can always give this Raza ahjussi a shout! :D
My favourite actresses? Well that would have to be Kim Ah-Jung from 200 Pounds Beauty, I find her cute in so many ways and her acting is really good + she can sing too! I like Gyu-Ri Kim as well, she's just so hot lol! Chae Jung-an from When A Man Loves is another one of my favourites and there is Gianna Jung who I think is everybody's favourite actress lol!
Oh yes, I shall definitely watch A Dirty Carnival and will let you know how I found it.

You're welcome :) Yeah that's so true, there are too many new dramas coming out and sometimes it's not easy to decide which ones to watch lol!
I'm still new to dramas but have started off with the Korean ones and my all time fav is Padam Padam, it was just really special and it made me cry lol!
I love IRIS, Queen of the Game and Midas as well. Basically I like anything targeted towards a mature audience with a good plot and some melodrama. I might watch some Japanese dramas too like 1 Litre of Tears and Great Teacher Onizuka.
As for movies, I like all of them as long as they're not boring lol! At the moment I love Korean revenge thrillers and romance movies, they are extremely good! How about you? What kind of dramas do you like? Wow even you're Myanimelist is impressive lol! :D

Hi there, I only just noticed your welcoming post in the introductions section...so I do apologize for the late reply. It's nice to meet you and I'm glad you liked my movies list.
I usually prefer watching Korean movies, but I think I need to slow down lol!
Your drama list is amazing! I don't think I can ever watch that many in my entire life lol! Which do you prefer more - Kdramas or Jdramas?

Hey there, no need to apologize :) Your post has got me wondering as to how I will manage to watch dramas after I'm married? I mean, I hope my future ah-ne (wife) will also take interest so we can watch together with no issues lol!
Yes, Queen of the Game is melodrama extreme lol! Midas is just incredible, it's all about business and money obsession and it's so damn addictive!
One thing however, I personally felt put off with Jang Hyuk's acting throughout this show and although I do understand that he is considered a 'veteran actor', it's almost as if he had no expressions at all and seemed wooden throughout Midas.
Having said that, he still seemed very professional as a businessman because it wasn't an easy role.
I am yet to see A Dirty Carnival, but I have to watch it for LBY haha! I've been planning to watch this movie for some time now, so I may watch it this week. Oh yeah, let me know how you found those movies I mentioned :)
I will def check out Cruel City because I am looking for a fast paced show. The other two I'm planning to start are King2Hearts and That Winter, The Wind Blows.

I noticed that you gave 'Padam Padam' a 10/10 as well, it's my all time fav show and it made me cry a lot...and guys are not supposed to cry lol!

Hey there, you're welcome :) Haha thank you, I am seriously addicted to movies, but I don't think my list is anywhere near as impressive as yours. That's a lot of dramas you have completed!
How did you find 'King2Hearts'? I am thinking of watching it next.
Oh yeah, I've heard of Cruel City and have been thinking of starting it. I'm watching 4 dramas atm and am really enjoying Sign, it's all about forensics and solving murders cases. Very good show!

Oh dear! Ahjussi must be upset that you are neglecting him for dramas lol!
Well, from the dramas I have completed thus far...my fav ones other than Padam Padam are IRIS, Midas and Queen of the Game. All are excellent and mature dramas.
I would highly recommend Queen of the Game (2006), it stars Jin Mo Joo and Lee Bo Young, it's a story about revenge and the importance of forgiveness in life. It's a little similar to Padam Padam in some ways but there is more happening and overall it's very addictive with great OST. It's a very sad story but the main cast do an excellent job.
Midas (Jang Hyuk and Lee Min Jung) is exceptional and much different from other Kdramas, it's all about financial wars, obsession with money and greed. I gave this 10/10 easily!
In terms of genre, I like anything with a good story line targeted towards a mature audience.
Due to my familiarity with Korean actors thanks to all those movies I've watched over the years, I prefer watching dramas that include the A list actors - Jin Mo Joo (my fav actor), LBH, Seung Heon Song & JWS...because this prevents the disappointment of watching all those childish type of shows which IMHO are pure garbage, hence why I never take drama rankings seriously lol!
OMG I don't want LBH, I don't swing that way haha! It's Lee Min Jung whom I wanted but he married her lol!

Oh you didn't watch IRIS? Yes the ending was very controversial and not a good one if you're a LBH fan (although he was the reason for the way it concluded), but even then it really was a great show!
I like LBH as well...he is a top actor, but last month he gave me good reason to dislike him by marrying my Lee Min Jung! I mean that's not fair lol! :(
Do let me know if there is any movie you are interested in on my IMDB list :)
By the way, I noticed that you gave the Korean movie 'Ditto' a rating of 4 out of 10. Was it really that bad? I haven't seen it yet and may not watch it now lol!
