I do believe no other actor could have done it not only for the reasons stated above but because no other actor has such a strong mindset as DD, as well as no other actor could have been exposed to such an atomic bomb of pressure & negativity and not only remain sane but stay confident and continue to do so.

Don't worry, you were not the only ones. There were quite a few hot discussions on this page when it started airing but at a certain point people understood it's a matter of personal taste so they kept separate in discussions in order to feel ok within their "tribe".

The ones against "silly girls" that actually enjoyed the drama found a way by skipping scenes and some of them never liked her till the end , as for others, they could digest her better in the later scenes.

What is a big NO NO is if people disrespect the actress because of the character, dismiss the drama complaining they expected romance when GOTD doesn't fall in the romance category or comparing this drama with FL centric romance dramas which is not only unjust but kinda' stupid.

The truth is, GOTD was made to target the male audience and it worked. The drama won TOP 1 Male Audience of the last 5 yrs in China, so they achieved what they intended in the first place.

A lot of people thought this drama could have been just fine without the romance, but around 1 episode of romance (if you put the bits together) out of 40, it's almost nonexistent.

As a ML Centric Non Romance Drama, swimming in a sea of strong female lead dramas with their romances and CPs, this is equal to a miracle. 8.8 was the minimum rating I was hoping it will get and today I will celebrate the power of the honest, loyal, kind, compassionate, open minded, humorous, adventurous, smart people that enjoyed GOTD and rated it accordingly. After all, these are some of the traits this drama is reflecting.

I'm also very excited about what's next. Can't wait to find out !

Nothing confirmed yet. Besides the NBA event on Feb 14 and the Yuewen Global IP Awards on Feb 28, nothing else is known. Except that he will start his next project after those 2 offline appearances. If that's so, and the project starts in March, we should have news soon.

You have no place in being here writing comments for 2 main reasons : 1. you dropped the drama so you have no clue about it thus you can't advice objectively a viewer and naturally you shouldn't even be on this page lurking in the dark, 2. this drama is not a romance so it doesn't fall in your expertise (though you state you are a fantasy romance author).

Don't think that if you're dangling MG in my face this changes things just because you see DD's picture as my avatar. Don't think that if you are a Dyshen or a Dixin or a Dyshen wearing Dixin clothes or a Dixin wearing Dyshen clothes this affects me in any way. Because I don't care.

This doesn't mean one can't make use of common sense as well as being an admirer of 2 different works on 2 different pages. There was no need for the message above nor does it make it a rightful explanation for the user who did nothing but sharing his wish.

Tbh, if I would be your editor I would fire you on the spot. Why ? Because you didn't do a simple homework in finding out what type of drama GOTD is and you introduced it in the wrong category.

Then I would make sure no other company will hire you because you lack professionalism, objective view and you are full of biases.

The impression you give is of being clueless when it comes to Cdramas, clueless when it comes to romance generally, narrowminded when it comes to different types of romance portrayals and on top of that you expect people to take you seriously as an author.

WOW ! and you linger on this page especially to promote a CP and another drama who is female centric and a romance. In case you didn't know (but of course you do) this drama is male centric and romance is just one of its many many many secondary plots. When you take a walk it seems you get lost. Just stay on the page where your drama is. Promote it there.

I agree. Only if you do that you can truly enjoy what each has to offer. There were some novel readers, around 5-6 that made themselves known on this page and they really helped us understand some things better or by giving spoilers from the novel. But at a certain point I realized they actually understood some things completely different compared to each other. And that is normal, because you relate the content to your own personal experiences.
But this was also "dangerous" because some of the viewers started to take all of this info for granted. And first of all, this is not guaranteed that will take place in the drama, and second, the way the reader described it is not guaranteed as the way the director of the drama will portray it.

I answered to "optimistwithinme" viewer because I could sense he/she felt this is tricky and is afraid of not losing the feeling he/she won by watching the drama. But if this viewer is not mature enough or is inexperienced and can't make the difference between those 2, in order to enjoy them both, then he/she will still win something. It will be either the drama or the novel.
Although I am a dedicated fan, I believe one's joy and happiness to be more important. I won't mind losing a viewer to the novel (in case that happens) as long as the viewer doesn't come back to trash the drama as some narrow-minded novel readers did.

I never read such comments and I have read all 10991 comments that are on Dafeng page. My friendly advice to you is to do whatever you feel like, never mind the others. If you will become a novel addict and be disappointed in the drama that's your own business. As I said above, one thing is a novel and the other is a drama adaptation. You can either make the difference between them and enjoy them both, either not and you will end up in rejecting one of them. The writer of the novel will be happy either way.

The last episode took a completely different turn from the novel so we have no idea what will be introduced for season 2 and what won't. Nor how will they spin certain things. Season 1 kept close enough to the novel but the ending or better said the additional layers added in the last episode to leave a door open for 2nd season upset some of the novel readers. If you can separate drama from novel, reading it can't hurt. On the contrary. I am sure they will keep many of the things written there.
P.S. I am rewatching it now and plan to read it after.
