If you start, give it a chance til around ep 15 though. (It's not that long, eps are about 40 mins long, if you discount ops and eds). That's when the going gets tough. The first few eps are setting up a lot of later plots.
Also, just to clarify, 1-2, then 33-50 happen in current time, 3-33 is a long flashback to the past. People seem to get frustrated when they don't know when the flashback ends.

Is ashes of love as intense? I am at ep 5 from Ashes of love and I am not so hooked. Will there be angst, love…
What you want to watch is Love and Redemption, then. It's currently in close combat with TTEOTM regarding blood spitting by the ML. TTEOTM has 6 more eps to make up a difference of 5 blood spitting instances. I think the record will be obliterated.

I liked RunYu and the Empress the best, and then definitely the little snake spirit (I think he's in the first few eps too, anyway he's in the epic scene where RunYu finally breaks down) and one of my favourite Chinese singers (for OST songs that I've heard, anyway), Sa DingDing, was in it, playing a prophet fairy of some kind. (She sings Upwards to the Moon, the best song in the OST, too).
The only part that really actually worked for the leads was the mortal arc. But other than that... it was pretty average. RunYu's conflict saved that drama for me.

The Heavenly Empress was da bomb, though. She was one of the best, spiteful, cruel, single-minded villain I've ever seen in xianxia. It was so easy to hate her - and her only interests were loving her son and hating her love rivals.

It's very probably not going to be a recognizable danmei anymore, so there's a lot of more romantic and suggestive scenes that could be cut out if they even filmed those. And maybe some details about TXJ's deeds will get a short pass-over. If they decide to keep mostly the xianxia, it'll turn into a disciple/master feud and reconcilliation with lots of spilling of blood LOL and repeated sacrifices from everybody.
But even if they decide to cut it into seasons, I'd wait for those 6 months apart myself. Or not, LOL, it depends on how well they do it. Here's hoping for a faster release :)
Not SY though, she was pretty cool. Evil, but cool. Some other wannabe demonesses should take lessons.
She doesn't regret. She is moved though. Some of those immortals couldn't care less - she, who is waiting for DG's resurrection, still can feel pity for the way they're treating one of their own over an unproven guilt.
She already showed more layers of personality than one certain other demoness who's busy elsewhere at the moment.

I totally get why people are anticipating any LYX new dramas, LOL, I kind of fell in love with RunYu since the first scene he's in and totally fell in with the scene he's breaking, and it made me watch ATWIL (not so great, but hey, LYX!), and LIS (Bai Lu AND LYX - Bai Lu is so cute!! IMHO she looks better in natural light and little makeup than in most scenes I've seen her in, LOL, might be the lighting) and even Fox in the Screen (don't watch that!).
But CWN is one of the characters I've best loved since I found danmei novels, LOL, I want to see him loved by everybody... and I know LYX can do it. Maybe the pressure will make Tencent fold and hurry up with it...

I am going to RAVE over the stairs scene if/when they release it, the discussion and wait for the tower scene won't even compare LOL. That is the absolute BEST part for me in the novel (that, and MR's revelation and PAIN. YESSSSSS, MoRan, feel and understand what you had and let go!!!!!!!!!) /totally not being a crazy fan here.

They're actually quite understanding, IMHO. Yes they reacted to finding out TTJ is the intended DG, but before Di Mian got involved, they were trying to control Sect Leader Cen and discussing to wait for more proofs before making a decision. Even AFTER they learned about the weapons, some (definitely more than just his master) were still taking his side. And his master is still trying to calm him.
It's SL Cen and Di Mian doing all the push and shove to get to a quick ending, one for rage and wanting revenge, one for pretending to care about his daughter.

CWN is more tragic, he's my white moonlight in danmei LOL. No, seriously, I don't know if MR will get compared, since CFY's whole vibe is darker even when he's being cute and nice (as a character obviously) so there probably won't be much sympathy for him in the beginning, maybe not even in the end. And since LYX makes such great use of white robes, CWN's styling and some parts of TTJ's styling look similar...
I hope CFY has the power to carry over TXJ, TXJ is one of the craziest, cruelest, saddest dumb huskies to ever exist. I KNOW LYX can carry CWN... Now if they only finally release it.
