Who is the kid Yeom Jang Seon’s wife referring to as it must be the same kid in the picture? Does anyone know?
He's Chu SeongHyeon - the only name SDJ remembered when he was amnesic - his childhood name. DeokHui and Secretary Gong both thought he must've died. His family name is Chu, like the woman in the club picture. And he appears in the other old picture... where EunNam's father is holding him in his arms :D
I think that Zhi Bai's friends' loyalty was a bit unrealistic. They dedicated their youth (10 years is a lot!)…
Gonna play drama psychologist here - most cops are driven by their sense of right or wrong (at least in dramas, they are). It's not just "okay, this happened, let's just get on with our lives", it's "this is UNFAIR and WHY did it happen to me? WHO did this to me?" So if they're all (or most of them) driven by that need for things to be right and for injustice to be redressed, then they simply just cannot let go of it, because it'll torture them for the rest of their lives.
There's actually one of them who does just that - finds something else to do and does that, and he STILL gets involved involuntarily, and branded a killer and remembered as that as a fall guy for the actual killer who is also related to the cases of his friends.
So it's more complicated than "this is life, we should just forget about it and survive any way we can". They obviously can not let go and survive any which way, so they just build their lives around redemption - or if that's not possible, then revenge.
ZhiBai sees that pretty clearly, that's why he never returns to his remaining family and lover. His new life cannot alow him to. And when Ti Yi's mom dies, he basically cut off the last remaining line back into his old life, because (in his words) there was no way SiYuan would ever forgive him for that...
just finshed ep 9 and to this day i still can wrap my head around why the female lead decided to marry SML . the…
I think they'll reveal later on she did it to save SDJ's life. They still didn't show who called her that evening (the call she took while SDJ was busy eating cinnamon bread for the first time LOL), when she was stressing "they" would have to keep their word. I don't think that was just about the shares.
I can just see it - they threatened to get her lover killed, unless...
That still doesn't excuse all the other stupid decisions, LOL - like leaving the blue phone in the middle of the room so anyone could get their hands on it, and so on, and so forth, PARTICULARLY if she was aware his life is under threat.
Only thing I don't understand is Jang seon wanting to kill him when he was the kid or teenage, If DJ born to a…
If he was Yeo SunHo's son, and DeokHui was having an affair with HID, then maybe YSH found out, got a good reason to divorce and cause a scandal, which in turn would make DeokHui unable to later on marry HID.
And HID is Yeom's way into DaeSan. Twenty or so years back he might not have been as powerful as he is now, and he wanted all that money - and power - and YSH was in his way (so removing the affair kids to help CDH and HID's marriage, then getting rid of the pesky husband - it's not clear in which order they god rid of them anyway, yet.)
That is, obviously, if what they seem to imply turns out to be true and not yet another feint.
They are not gonna be siblings, I'm sure they gonna make EUNNAM & taeyun as Deokhui + Ildo affair kids...
Put a spoiler on it, please.
Yeah, I explained my train of thought about this in the other comment, under the spoiler.
They're not going to be officially siblings BUT CEN is very probably going to turn out to be DeokHui's affair daughter that happened to be recognised by Yeo SunHo, DeokHui's husband, whom she thought of as her father. SDJ is very probably going to turn out to be the actual biological son of Yeo SunHo and his mistress', so in a totally makjang drama way, they would be "legal" siblings (or would've been if SDJ got recognised as a son.)
The question now though is how and why is Yeom implicated in Yeo SunHo's death ('cause the kid had been around the Yeom family when SDJ was very young, which means they were close to the father - his mother was a club entertainer and would probably have had no way to enter the family environment... unless SHE herself was someone from that world, or as a servant. The old pic of Madam Yeom and the kid doesn't look like he would've been the child of a servant though.)
PS TaeYun is so young though, I think he's legitimate anyway, isn't he?
OOOOOH now it makes so much sense!! And LOL, they ARE siblings, hahaha~ double removed!Anyway. This ep was peak…
Okay let's draw this picture. Yeo SunHo (Cha Deokhui's dead husband) is the one holding SeongHyeon in his arms in that pic. CHS didn't have a registered father, since he had his mom's surname until they bought off the Seo name.
So Yeo SunHo is his father (this is dramaland, I don't make the rules). Cha DeokHui found out, got rid of the mistress and kids (without realising they both survived) while at the same time having her own affair - wanna BET that EunNam is actually HID's biological daughter? :D Because I'm pretty sure I'd win that bet.
So SDJ is basically unrelated to anyone in the Cha family, CEN is a bio but bastard daughter of the clan LOL (that is still legally claimed by Yeo SunHo), thus they (SDJ and CEN) can have a sexual relationship (and did) without causing all the SK society to go up in flames over a drama, LOL.
It also explains how HID is so freaking obsessed with SDJ - from that picture only, he looks a lot like YSH, maybe HID's obsession is over YSH and not SDJ in the end. He looked at him with those doe eyes (the same as he does in the old picture), was there something from his part at least aimed at YSH?!! Because it sure looks like it.
So now we have SDJ's motivation - his mother killed off by CDH, his father, the same (and LOL, CEN's revenge is HIS revenge all things considered :D)
PS It totally slipped my mind TaeYun is HID's son, for some reason I thought he was the useless daughter's son. I LOVED it that HID rethought his murderous ways because his son knew he didn't call the ambulance and tied those threads into discovering his father maybe wants to get rid of SDJ... TaeYun is a good kid.
...And so is SeonWoo. By the third right-turn he probably realised the old man doesn't remember or is having too much fun with it, but kept taking right turns. He has a good heart. It completely hurt hearing Chairman Cha calling him inside because he's his son... *sigh* Seriously, TaeYun and SeonWoo should be best bros forever, I don't care who inherits the conglomerate.
...And dammit, I feel a bit of pity for Huicheol slipping in. Is EunNam folding and maybe accepting she should stay with him?! (I say YES, make place for Dr. Kang in SDJ's life :D)
OOOOOH now it makes so much sense!! And LOL, they ARE siblings, hahaha~ double removed!
Anyway. This ep was peak comedy :D I think I like these kind of eps too, despite the lack of SDJ being hurt ('cause those are the best LOL).
Let's play this game - dial any phone number you want - what are the chances that, if anyone at all answers, it's SDJ at the other end? I was ROFLMAO throughout the episode when they did that :D
Evil Mastermind Yeom ranting: WHAT ARE THESE FOOLS DOING, TAKING PRIVATE REVENGE ON SOMEONE UNIMPORTANT DURING THESE TRYING TIMES, while, at that particular time, being SO MUCH engaged in getting private revenge on someone unimportant during these trying times, LOL. I bet they were all laughing when they did that scene - because helloooo, it's hilarious :D
MORE you hear me, get me MORE :D
ETA Wait, I remember another one that's kind of epic, LOL - "we should die in order of birth, and since you're older... go die first" hahaha~
A bit underwhelmed TBH. So in her first life she grew into a warrior saintess who went all the way into the Imperial…
The more, the merrier :D Be warned I like BL (I see you do, too), makjang (way too much, LOL, come watch Buried Hearts, PHS is looking ah-mah-zing!!), action and generally not-stupid/silly plots and characters (I'm not going to guarantee anything for BH hahaha~). But I do fall for a pretty face once in a while, and that's what kept me here.
I think that Zhi Bai's friends' loyalty was a bit unrealistic. They dedicated their youth (10 years is a lot!)…
They did it partly for him, and also because their own lives had been upended anyway. They all got arrested for drug use and were thrown out of the police academy branded as druggies, there was no coming back from that. So part of it is their own revenge. They were all living in the underworld all this time, with no hope of resurfacing...
The music stopped and I thought - FINALLY! - but then it started again and she continued dying LOL. The Emperor:…
A bit underwhelmed TBH. So in her first life she grew into a warrior saintess who went all the way into the Imperial Palace and did stuff, and now she's relegated to peace-maker by teaching the NanWu people to TRADE?! I mean, they're living in a freaking mountain area, it's clear they're not going to get enough food by planting stuff, but they DO have very precious spices and still they pick to go to war?! Because why?! And if she already knew how to fight, why didn't she really fight at all throughout the story, when it was called for?!
And how come it seemed Yu Jin yearned for Jang Si (when did he not, though) and she could care less?! Yup, romantic as heck.
They did it all to save the freaking useless Emperor. I almost cheered for PR when she went on a killing bend, because finally the Emperor would learn how stupid he had been. And he took pity on her, what the heck?!! USELESS!! She had just killed one of his sons and threatened to kill the rest of the family, she had already done away with the CP, does the freaking useless idiot not care about anyone but her?! No wonder MingYue was so spoiled.
Anyway, at least Baoping survived. He was one ray of sunshine in this story. And Long Dan, but he kind of faded away in the scenery in the final part.
WTH was that long-long-looooong love declaration?! Fuqing got it on one, LOL. But Zhen Heng kept going on, and on, about such romantic stuff nobody cares about - hey, you're a support chara and she's a guest starring, tie the sentence and go away to marry LOL.
Everybody forgot about the Jiang family and I still can't stand the granny. She was stupid throughout and now she's all giggles. Go away.
At least Zhan got his own HEA, LOL, even if it took ChuChu to make him see the light.
Oh well, this one's done. The best part was the one before the wedding, but all the rest was pretty mediocre - minus Zhan's dramatic arc and Zhang WanYi's facial expressions. He made me stay watching long after the story bored me to pieces. I might go back to The Rise of Ning just because of him. And that's all.
The music stopped and I thought - FINALLY! - but then it started again and she continued dying LOL.
The Emperor: Now we're past this, what are your plans for the future? Yu Jin: I'm going to Disneyland!!! (He didn't say that, sadly. It would've been epic.)
...TBH I only now realised Zhen Heng is so long-winded. He went on, and on, and on... and on...
Like, seriously, MDL removed the countdown because there might be an express package today? *sigh*
They're mellowing out again these last eps, sadly. As if the palace play before the wedding was the highlight and they couldn't be bothered with all the rest. The only truly heartfelt delivery was her brother calling Yu Jin out with the "you think I'm afraid of you" line, everything else including the Princess Royal falls flat. Yeah I know, she's a real b!tch, we know, we know, DO something instead of blabbering about it.
There are only 5 more eps. Bro needs to get wed, PR needs to die, the Emperor needs to get his head out of his behind, the NanWu people should decide to do what the hell they intend to do, the Jiang family needs reconciliation etc. There's a lot to unfold and time's wasting.
We all love DongJoo (except for the incels, ignore them). The FL also loves DongJoo (she says). Heo Il-Do also…
TBH, the most play is between the three male leads - and I like it that way (there are no bromance waves of any kind, just a kind of very strange subtle particle motions between SDJ (ML) and HID (one of the main opponents). It feels like the writer really wanted to just write a three-male-focused story, but had to include a FL for the sake of more motivation for the ML.
Don't expect romance (a lot), but expect makjang. Myself, I like makjang and actually missed it a lot, so this hits the perfect spot. It might do it for you too :)
After what FL does nobody wants romance n just waiting forML and his birth msytery to getsolved and hopes he outsmarts…
I think by now everybody lost hope she'll show brain activity, LOL, I called her an oneorangebraincell foil to the ML's alley tomcat ways, and sadly she doesn't get to use the braincell a lot :D
We all love DongJoo (except for the incels, ignore them). The FL also loves DongJoo (she says). Heo Il-Do also…
It's more action than politics (so far). A lot more personal interractions than the usual political chaebol games (they aren't missing, just not the focal point.) I haven't watched Reborn Rich, though, so I can't compare them. In the beginning, it felt a bit like (a much better) The Impossible Heir (married with The Bourne Identity, LOL). Now it's turned into a game of "who else is trying to kill the ML today" and him surviving everything.
.... I think we should volunteer him for some no-return mission, maybe send him to Mars LOL. I bet he'd return alive (in even more glorious hair :D)
The FL IS indeed very pretty and they're absolutely amazing together in the first ep. Then the betrayals start, LOL. Be warned she's prone to making VERY BAD CHOICES (and she makes a lot of them LOL).
I recommend starting it and giving it at least til ep6 (because the ML is gorgeous and we all like that). Be warned there are lots (LOTS!) of cliches, but this is a makjang thriller, so they're to be expected.
Happy watching! (When Friday comes, this place will be buzzing :D)
PS You should watch this for the absolutely awesome soundtrack, too. Just check it out in the discussion topic about the OST!
