The novel is a completely different story and they didn’t include the author in the script writing process (unlike other adaptations from this author. Apparently she has a bad reputation or inexperienced at script writing).The God of War in the novel is someone completely different and already has a wife and child. Shangque doesn’t exist in the book. The heart curse was also not part of the novel. DFQC and Orchid only swapped bodies once in the beginning during their escape from prison. DFQC ended up dying in XLH's body. She travelled to the underworld to get his soul back as she wanted to go back to her body. They ended up sharing bodies. The anime version follows the book.

In ep. 8 CH stares at the names of the fairies who are to be accepted to his palace. He has a hard time scratching out Orchid's name. Then FLASHBACK to 500 years ago when he had to say goodbye to Orchid, and he sadly erased her memories. Yeah, there’s so many little details that is well-integrated throughout the plot that shows how carefully worked out the script is. I like the realness of this conversation and the logical progression in his growth. DFQC was like a walking corpse. He now understands his father's love and his people's suffering. The writers did not sugar coat either! When DFQC asks his father if he would make the same choice if given another chance, yearning for a different answer, but his hope is shattered to pieces. The father says he will do it all over again. 😭
I just realized Beast Prince is here too. This director is the same as TTEOTM, which worries me...I hope this does not have the same amount of blood puking as that show. 🤮LOL
