Now that I've finished the drama, this makes sense. For the first like 11 episodes, I was kind of annoyed by his character too, but later on, we realize that a big part of why he is the way he is is his trauma from not being able to remember his past.
I really liked many aspects of this show: -The length of the series. They kept the plot moving and got done in 29 episodes. There was mystery, intrigue, anguish, soul-searching, dramatic music etc., but nothing dragged. Each episode always moved the plot ahead. I can't stress enough how admirable this is for me. Chinese dramas always go for 40-60 episodes for no reason and it's exhausting. -The aesthetics and costumes. In recent years in many historically-based fantasy dramas, the costumes are always way over the top with the hairstyles and extra bits added to everyone's costume. While this drama wasn't set in actual Tang Dynasty China, it stayed true to Tang fashion (for the most part). The set was also very pleasing to look at and there was great attention to detail. -The actors. Jing Boran, Song Weilong, and Hong Yao in addition to just be extremely easy on the eyes, played their parts very well..especially Jing Boran. Lan Jue's expressions whether he was freaking out, playing with kittens, or just reclining in his villa reading a book were a joy to watch for me.
If you like mysteries and bromance, I'd recommend.
My thoughts as of episode 6 part 2/4: I applaud any and every BL that has explicitly gay characters (or at least men who have verbally confirmed their attraction to/preference for men) from beginning. However, it's becoming very hard to believe that Pat, a gay uo man with dating experience, doesn't realize that Jeng likes him/is flirting with him. I get that he wouldn't react to it, it's his boss after all, but how does he not know Jeng has the hots for him? Further, what's supposed to be so appealing about Pat that we have the gorgeous Jeng, the popular extremely attractive Put (Up) AND the handsome Kong (Big) chasing after him so much?
Oh, I know very well who Singto is lol but I'm happy his time with Krist over. Arthit in SOTUS was kind of a garbage person (imo) and Kongpop low key enabled it. It was groundbreaking for the time and I get that, but I won't pretend I liked it...even back in 2016 when I watched it.

Nothing to do with him being girly. lol We love a "toot" in this house. 😊 I just don't feel like his acting is as good here as it was in Lovely Writer. This opinion may change though as I see more of the show.
Only on Ep. 4, and while I'm happy to see Bruce (Chot) in a role that's not basically just him crying, I don't know if I really feel like this is the best fit for him. Does it get better?

It lost steam by about episode 9. Everything that happens between episodes 11 and 12 could have been put into one episode, especially since there were quite a few conflicts that didn't bother resolving from earlier episodes. Overall, it was ok. If you didn't like Enchanté, but enjoy ForceBook, then you'll like this one. They're really cute the whole time.
