Maybe that was the director's intention, teasing us with little tidbits here and there so that the discussion of the drama continues long after watching it. So, are the short sequences at the beginning of each episode real? Or are they dream sequences of what could have been.? It's up to the audience to interpret them as they see it.

I tend to be biased against cringey fantasy cdramas, but I agree with you. I watched joy of life and love like the galaxy recently. There are better then anything ive seen recently from Korea. Production values, acting, sets …etc.

Hmm. Kind of strange to watch the ML and FL but with different partners. Think I will go for the story of Ming Lan which I read is written by the same author of Love like Galaxy and also family themed.

First time I manage to complete a China drama. Latter half had too much sudden "plot jump" between episodes but still the best historical drama of 2022-2023. Beats anything from Korea so far. Any other drama from China as good as this? Thanks.
P/S Please don't recommend well known dramas like Eternal Love, Princess Weiyoung. I could not get even through one episode. Don't really like fantasy themed dramas with corny CGI.

I don't think this series is as bad as some say, Its ok but after watching too many korean sagueks maybe things are getting a bit stale for me.
So it was refreshing for me to finally be able to go deep into a great China period drama(and not give up after one episode).

Series 2 is ok. However I thought that the way Jang UK destroyed Jin Mu+ gang and also the dragon was too easy. He didn't break sweat or even get a scratch. Should be more epic,
