more than chemistry its about the script, i havent watched uncontrobally fond but the way you have phrased it…
For me it became decent from ep 6-7. Honestly I might be a little biased because I love the leads. Constructive criticism is always important, but some people are just bots who gave 1 rating after watching a 13 hour drama in 3 hours. I mean!

100%. Their previous drama had a traumatic ending, but storywise I loved it. This drama was meh in first many episodes, but it caught up. But yes this isn't great. Kim Woo Bin and Suzy deserved a better drama for a reunion. I am shocked because, the writer of the drama is critically acclaimed so I don't understand what happened to her. Plot wise, culture/religion wise, I accept and agree to all the faults. But chemistry and acting, for me its good.
People saying Kim Woo Bin and Suzy do not have chemistry? Bro fans loved them so much, cried for them so much, that producers put them back in another show, 9 years later. How many couples reunite again in kdrama world? I mean maybe check your eyes? Yeah, I would have accepted the bland writing of some scenes, even the religious and cultural stuff as some people complain. But rest? The drama isn't the best but also not the worst. Its enjoyable in many scenes. Yeah if you are just a blind hater, then continue. But why waste your time pulling something down? I mean leave the comment section for people who want to enjoy it. You watched, gave review, now move on? What's the point of coming back every few hours and complaining about it?
I am in ep 9, and currently liking it. Yes it became a little meh in the first few episodes, also difficult in catching up with a lot of characters, but it isn't bad as people were saying yesterday here in the comment section. Yes the writing could have been better. But the acting is awesome. Just not the leads, but also eun jin and steve noh, ohh my god steve noh is so fine. I think Eun Jin is not utilized to her potential till now in the drama (ep 9). Honestly this is my favourite genre, fantasy mystery, kind of arabian nights theme, lovers with a bad destiny. I mean nothing nothing could ever make me hate a Suzy Kim Woo Bin drama. I mean have you seen them. Also I am so glad, they have so many scenes together, since the first episode.
Also people who have issues with religion/culture at this point, with no offense to you, just ignore if you can. Koreans are not religious, and they make dramas for their people, then for others internationally. Though Ilbis is his name said repeatedly, he does introduces himself to Suzy's character as Satan, or Shaitan or Ilbis. So yes the scenario is kind of similar even for Christianity and Hinduism. But we can choose to ignore that. Also that's just my opinion, you are free to decide for yourself. My intention is never to hurt your religious or cultural sentiments.
KWB looks hot in long hair. I am scared of Suzy's character in the show. So scared, that till now I am unable to sympathize with her even when her mother abandoned her. The young girl who played Suzy's childhood was so amazing. Also them bickering is so humorous. Generally we see cold bf sweet jolly talkative gf, its a kind of opposite here, which I am really looking forward to.
We are all very excited. Just one request- the one who finishes first, do write here if its a happy ending, sad ending or open ending. Also add spoiler tag. I really need to check about the ending, I cannot take another sad ending with these two. 3 years earlier when I watched Uncontrollably Fond, I never knew about the ending before watching it, and it has left me traumatized since then. Fingers crossed for this one!!
Come on, we all knew this was coming. Its just that we hoped things wouldn't escalate to this. But honestly, I believe the focus on food should have been less from the first, and more on the seriousness of the palace politics. Then the difference between ep 1 to 9 and 10 to 12 wouldn't be so much. Instead of continuation of the same series, it felt that it was a different series in the last 3-4 episodes. I mean they focused on the comedy and food part so much that I forgot that this was the ending that was supposed to happen. Can't believe we came to the last episode so soon. This was such a great ride, discussing so much stuff, loving and watching the show. Would miss it. Hoping for a happy ending for them, though killing of so many people already left a scar. Lets do it, one last time!
well they said concubines were jealous how the king favored her and hence created a trap for her.
Yeah I heard that. But why would the the grandma support the concubines. I mean her character at least till today, was nice and wise. And the trap you mention- they do not clear that right? Like what exactly happened between the the parents of ML wasn't said. They also said the queen scratched the king, but no reason was given? They should shed some light on that.
Chae-Min is such a good actor. He did so well in today's scenes. He got a role to perform all the shades, and he aced it honestly. He deserves great scripts with mature roles in the future. Yoona was good too. The way her character tried to stop the king from becoming a tyrant was so nice. I am glad she confessed her love. But this episode gave such a trauma. I mean how could they kill Song Jae, I cried literally. At least the grandmom knows that it wasn't her grandson who killed her. I was so scared she would die thinking her grandson killed her. I hope the ending is not a sad one. I mean we all know the king cannot have a happy ending with his royal cook, but at least make him come in the future or a reincarnation plot, anything would do, but give my babies a happy ending! They deserve that after so much trouble they are going through.
Why is the FL like this? why is she trying to change the history. And I don't want a sad endingðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Because she loves the king. She doesn't want him to be the tyrant. She knows the history, that the king would become a tyrant, and then deposed off and exiled. She wants him to be a good king, and not take rash decisions. She feels the history can be changed.
One question- I understood what happened to the King's mother in the past. But why did that happen? I mean what did she do so wrong that all the concubines, some ministers, and even the grandmother of ML wanted her dead? I did not find any reason mentioned for that. Did I miss something? Does the novel say why that happened?
Yeah, I would have accepted the bland writing of some scenes, even the religious and cultural stuff as some people complain. But rest? The drama isn't the best but also not the worst. Its enjoyable in many scenes.
