What other ghost themed bl is there, i think this is the only 1 i know
there are many, too many to list them all up here. but if you go on my profile in my lists, I have a Supernatural BL/GL list where I have most of them collected
This side story shows in a very tragic way who Zhang Teng is and what his relationship with Fan Zerui and Juan is. I don't know what some people expected this to be but a side story that isn't in the main drama does of course not have something new and crucial to the main plot... that's the point of a side story. But it is an interesting, well made short story POV of Zhang Teng. (get some tissues ready)
Lately i am visiting MDL only to block people, it is not fun at all . 🥺
sad facts.... I rarely read comments here since years because there is always at least 1 in the top few that pisses me off. People trashing shows they don't like is one thing but some are literally racist, sexist and body shame actors in here but everyone think it's fine since that's normal here apparently.... BUT the worst part is that MDL is so popular that even actors, directors and writers know it and check here once in a while. I am so secondhand embarrassed thinking about what they could possible read here in the comments of every drama and movie...
Holy Molyy I was recommended this drama and it was described as unhinged they got that right I've only had a chance…
"I never hear much complains about straight shows with sex scenes i.e GoT/HotD/365 days/frozen flower etc. I have no idea why people do this for Bls." to add on this: not even just straight shows but literally LGBTq+ movies and series are that explicit sometimes as well and nobody cares. You either watch it or not. But people only complain when it's queer stuff from asia because they want that automatically in the fluffy BL box for some weird reason. I would sort Playboyy more into the queer film corner (slice of life, realism, LGBTq issues) than BL (romantic & erotic fantasy), even though they still do marketing like BL. It's a bit of an hybrid of these genres I would say. Alone the whole gay porn cliche winks in the first episodes, is only something people get who are into kinks and watch (gay) porn. This series does not have the BL typical beauty shot NC scenes, which some people aren't used to. Nor does it have idealized wholesome romance. It's more on the realism side regarding different relationships, sex and sex work. But sometimes tips over into a parody or romance fantasy side. Like the whole back and forth of Soong x First, they literally voiceover regarding fantasy happy end vs reality in the hotel scene. Nonts voice over / internal monologues we sometimes get about human emotions and relationships are interesting as well.
The point of the drama is that none of these 7+ relationships in Playboyy are flawless (not even Teena x Zouey) and all of them have to work through some issues and conflicts between the missing person case ;)
This isn't BL fast food, so if you are looking for that this isn't for you. If you want a unique plot, amazing actors and a good hurt / comfort development with a quiet realistic traumatized main, then give this a go.
