"I felt like the storyline could've done without Uea's traumatic experience." but that's literally what this story is about.... the whole point is that he is an abuse and SA victim with major trust issues trying to cope somehow with his trauma and messed up family. Because of that and him knowing that guys just approach him because they just want to sleep with him, that's why he didn't like King at first since he was a player and approached him the same way. Uea just agreed to FWB to stick it to his homophobic mother and because he uses sex as a way of coping with his trauma, reclaiming his autonomy over his body but only if it is by his own rules and boundaries. Not wanting to get used by others again. But he then learned that King is not that bad, is nice and actually cares about him.
But he couldn't fully trust him enough to date him. Wasn't fully sure if King still would like him without them having sex. That's why he gave him that test period at the end. To find out if he really likes him as a person or just his body.
Yall need to stop comparing and measuring Playboyy with BL drama standards....
Because it's not the classic BL formula, I am not even sure if it's intended to be "BL". Even though it is hard to define what exactly counts as BL nowadays, I would say romance has to be a big part for it to be BL and that's just a small part in Playboyy. But the queer experience (in Thailand) and lifestyle, the whole sex work theme and social commentary, the mystery plot all have more focus than the romance parts imo. Not saying it's not focused on the relationships as well, that's one of the main themes, but not all of them are romantic relationships (yet). And then it's also inspired by some oldschool LGBTq movies, has intentional camp vibes, is a bit artsy & satirical here and there with some winks to the (gay) porn industry as well.
You can not like a show, but you don't have to be so rude and put other people down for liking it.
The amounts of times I have seen people call actors ugly or characters not good looking enough to be paired with another character. For other dramas but also Playboyy (Jump for example). Or too thin, too feminine, too pale etc
To use the fact that on GOL they broke viewing records and brought in more subscribers is nice for the show but…
Here is something wild: you can totally watch this for the diverse sex lifes BUT ALSO for the plot. Ya know both is possible. Don't know why this concept is so hard for some BL fans....
You can not like a show, but you don't have to be so rude and put other people down for liking it.
It's funny (sad) because that's what 90% of the MDL comments do all the time, which sucks. And don't get me started on the body shaming some folks let out here on characters AND actors...
(friendly reminder that some actors, writer, producers etc actually check MDL out sometimes......)
it's the owner of playboyy if he is porsche & proms dad, and therefore he is jumps (former) boss
can only guess that maybe daddy looks very chinese while porsche looks very thai unlike daddy. or jump is indeed racist / closeminded i mean he also kinkshamed zouey.
Wait a minute!!! In the next ep preview, are Porsche and I-like-it-hard boy brothers???? What's with the DAD thing?
they were mentioned to be brothers in ep2 when they met at the car wash to talk about playboyy. porsche also talked about them being brothers at the beginning of this episode.
The only brain activity it needs is finding ways to cope with how horrific the NC scenes are.
Yea but this is a thai drama in thailand about thai issues (+ thai dramas area always a bit short on budget and sometimes even experience compared to other countries). According to the comment section there are a lot who are just here to complain that there are too many sex scenes with no purpose (which is just false because they do have a purpose). And that always happens with 18+ dramas for some mysterious reason. Outside of MDL comments are always more positive and constructive btw.
And again, the cringe in some scenes is intentional (they even had a cameraman in the last episode visible in the center of the screen in a mirror so obvious it's definitely intentional). Either because they overdo the porn parody / homage or the characters are just not supposed to be pretty and aesthetical in that moment (like Soong x First cosplay sex was just a bit silly to look at but that's what it is for outsiders. but for them in the moment it's hot). And outside of the parody moments I srsly don't get what there is supposed to be so disgusting and unwatchable 🤷♂️
The editing is a bit off sometimes yes, but everyone loved Chains of Hearts and that was way worse in that.
I personally have never witnessed someone get obliterated with an anal thermometer before so yeah there is defo…
And you don't have to have seen that stuff before. It's just the reaction to it that's so kindergarten. People shove all kinds of weird things up their ''openings'' to try it. A thermometer is not that wild. First could as well still have used his fingers because I doubt the thermometer alone gives that much sensation.
The only brain activity it needs is finding ways to cope with how horrific the NC scenes are.
That comment just proves what I wrote but ok.... It's just really sad how you guys can't look beyond the sex scenes that are deliberately camp and a bit over the top OR sometimes bad (like literally when Soong was tired af or when the guys are not into it but doing it for money, of course that's bad and fake sex what do you guys expect... also real life sex is just not really that pretty to look at for outsides). This drama is about the sex work industry, about prostitution and a bit satirical about that too sometimes. This is simply not a vanilla romance drama.
But this drama already talked about a lot of things other dramas barely just touched, if at all. Like save sex, rules of kink & BDSM, ... hygiene, the perception of kink & BDSM in society + taboo topic sex (like this comment section best example of how bad that still is), discussion about consent and communication issues regarding sexual / relationship expectations and consent, some dark sides of sex work in thailand with it's shitty laws, nonconsensual sextapes, different opinions and taste of sex, social pressure regarding virginity, sexual fantasies vs reality, different kinds of relationships, that sex doesn't always go perfect and pretty as imagined, switches, sexual experimentation and discovering, and pretty sure it's going to touch on mental health as well (as sex worker but also Nants case, maybe even Zouey fear of sex).
And then the whole Nant & Nont mystery. Who is the guy with the dog mask. Who is trustworthy, who is shady, who is connected to the case and why.
But you guys are too occupied with clutching your pearls.
But if you guys can only see the sex scenes that's a you problem.
The way 90% of the comment section doesn't know what to do with a drama that isn't romcom and has a lot of artistic, metaphoric and ironic audiovisual storytelling in it .-. If you want to believe it or not this drama requires a bit of brain activity and an eye for details.
Also half of you sound like you never have seen sex or only have sex with the lights off.
