Does anyone know what happened to Rodtang and Nine? I don't see them in any of the promotional posters.
@S.. - Ah, right, I got you. It's weird because the original actor of Nine is the one listed. Honestly the studios really need to sort themselves out and be a bit more professional. I hope they don't 'backseat' them and make their story more of a minor sideline - they were great characters in series one and I really liked them as a couple.

@mila - so an actor, who plays a gay character, came out as gay and they fired him? That's just stupid! Surely they know, from the fans reactions, they wouldn't care either way? Studio bosses are so dumb.

Nine's still listed as being played by the same actor so let's hope they've maybe only changed his look or something. :)

Interesting sneak peek of Hu Ge's speaking English in this drama https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8FCKfgwD1o
He's doing pretty good with speaking English - at least he's trying, how many of us from the West can speak Chinese, Japanese or Korean without sounding the same with our own accents? I'm only learning to speak Japanese and Korean and it's NOT easy - I KNOW I'm speaking it badly because of my English accent, but I'm hoping to get better. So people should NOT diss him for doing it, he's pretty good and clearly trying his best.

Person Denny Huang
He's a good actor and I'm surprised he's only doing guest roles or supporting roles. I thought he was excellent in Loving, Never Forgetting. Very underused which is a shame.

I'm up for it - I've watched ALL the versions so far, including the anime, and I've read the manga.…
I got through the first nine episodes by power 'walking' through it.....but that was when Netflix UK had only loaded 18 episodes....then it loaded the titles up to episode 39 and I cried (not literally, just in my soul). So then I broke the rest up into 15 minute chunks....well, by the time I got to episode 34 it was down to 5 minutes.....but then episode 35 wasn't too bad and so I just took a deep breath and binged the last four.

It was a bit like taking the worst tasting medicine in the world - it leaves a nasty aftertaste that you know will take hours to go, you feel sick and you're worried you'll vomit.....but at least it's done. I do wonder (with growing dread) whether there'll be a season 2 for the marriage?

Oooh!! I LOVED the original TVB drama for it. Kinda iffy when I heard there's a movie about a reunion of…
I have to admit I've not seen any other versions around; I really have looked because others have told me about it. So I can only go on this movie alone. But Cheung Julian in this is truly epic - I've watched him in other roles since this, and he's good, but he's never bettered his portrayal of Man Cho (in my opinion anyway).

Sorry for taking so long to reply, I only stumbled on your comment by chance, I hadn't had a heads up for it.

Can someone let me know how many episodes there are and how long each one is - I'm only asking as there's just 7 on youtube and they're only about 15-20 minutes long... Thanks, it's just someone else told me there was none subbed version of the miniseries that was up in the 30 episodes.....

So long as it's not like 'My Wife’s Having an Affair this Week' where we were supposed to feel sorry for the cheating wife and NOT the poor husband. I think, unless the spouse is a nasty person/control freak/violent partner, then the spouse that is cheated on is the victim.

Right, so an open ending. I'm not a huge fan of those to be frank. Still, thanks for the info; all I really need to know is if I need a box of tissues and chocolate or whether it will be tearless by the closing credits? I am so done with crying right now; so many of these dramas have reduced me to a puddle of tears by the end that I'm in danger of being a dehydrated husk soon. lol! Thanks again for the info though - genuinely appreciated.

Title Princess Jellyfish Spoiler
Tsukimi was definitely in love with Kurako/Kuranosuke (her comment to her mum and the way she looked at him at the end of the fashion show proved that) - but I think it's difficult because he's either transgender, gay or a transvestite (it wasn't made clear).

If the latter of the three then he's likely to return her feelings, possibly, at some point (even if he doesn't now) as in every other way transvestite men think, act and love like every other man (they just choose to dress as women - day to day in his case). If, however, he's transgender or gay then hers will most definitely be a one-sided love as he will never see her as anything more than a friend. I'm genuinely not sure - sometimes in the movie I thought Kuranosuke was transgender, or maybe gay, other times that he was a transvestite; so it was really difficult to get a handle on his feelings for Tsukimi.

Still, one thing I will say - he never, to me at least, seemed to look at her the way someone in love would look at the person they want to be with. To me, at least, it seemed he saw her more as a best friend, than a love interest. But, to be honest, I really and truly hope I'm WRONG.

She genuinely accepts him for who he is and, if he is a transvestite and not trans or gay, then he could do worse than fall for her as she will never try to force him to be someone he isn't; never try to force him to conform, and that's worth a hell of a lot these days when (no matter what country you live in) conforming and being the same as everyone else is demanded by the majority. I would also argue that she'd defend him and his choice to dress as he wants as well - at a time when he's unlikely to be accepted by anyone else for who he really is.

But whatever the outcome - I LOVED the movie......it was BRILLIANT and Masaki Suda's portrayal of Kurako/Kuranosuke was just EXCELLENT - it was his performance that really lifted the movie out of the anime's shadow of 'madcap comedy'.

Although it's sad it's not a melodrama. So it's a big recommendation!! :D
Dramanice have it subbed - it's a really good film, but you will shed tears.
