This is literally the first time where I'd prefer the FL ending up with her bestie. If they take the love triangle route, which wasn't necessary cause I would have loved them staying friends, they should try something new. In western dramas you'll never know who is endgame. It would be nice if kdramas would give the SML a chance too. The whole concept of ML and SML is unnecessary. Let them be protagonists who end up at unexpected places. That said, it's a good show with interesing characters. I adore the FL and her mother and her friend. The ML is okay but the least interesting part so far. He also doesn't look like a pupil which doesn't help.
This is a soap opera. Important developments happen off screen, the plotline is ridiculous and the family tree hilarious. I watched it because I really like the ML. But he deserves better dramas. He's a very capable actor. The FL wore very distracting make up and clothes that made her look less natural. She went everywhere in high heels and cocktail dresses except for a few scenes. But all in all it was a nice daily watch. I wouldn't watch it again though.
I really like the actors and their roles. But somehow the story seems to fall apart in episode 9. Unfortunately I think I'll drop this for now. The backstabbing nurse and the sister of the SML are way too soapy for a slice of life story like this.
I really liked the last episode with the shift to mirae and her story. I always liked Ryu Kyung Soo. He's a great actor. It's so nice to see him in a romantic role again. He's like the guy next door you didn't think you needed. I like the nickname Mr. Strawberry. Lol I also loved the main couples story. Park Jin young is one of my faves and I have watched many of his dramas this year. He always nails it. I also think he's the most suitable ML for Park Boyoung after Park Hyung sik. I love their shyness towards each other. I also think that the younger versions are stellar. I saw both if them as support before. Young Hosu looks indeed like Kim Wobins little brother.
I think using the female lead here to discuss the alcoholism in k society is a good use of sexism :) they are…
I agree with you. There are much more shows internationally which adress male alcoholism than female. The public gaze only shifted in recent years towards female alcoholics... especially the functioning kind. In SK I think adressing this issue is still new. In this show there's not only the FL who is addicted to alcohol. It's basically her whole family as well as the doctor himself. He seems to be sober though. In most kdramas the story is portrayed through the FLs point of view... especially in romances... so I wouldn't say it's sexist that she's the main alcoholic here.
Seriously... I love everything about this show. The Yumi Cells reference was great as well as the fact that the FL is a Basketball pro and last but not least the hilarious epilogues with their meta references. It's also a plus that I like all the characters flaws and all.
Since FL is auto mechanic, she is poisoned by chemicals and fumes already and thus more prone to drinking and…
You are spot on here. I live in germany and here it's booze too. But daydrinking and drinking after work isvvery much frowned upon here. Still alcohol is the most socially aproved drug here.
What a great drama. I loved everything about it. It was a compelling story with great acting, beautifully shot and a fantastic score. Best kdrana if 2025 for me.
The first three episodes felt very fast paced which was welcome. I think they went for a "Lovely runner" vibe. The leads acting is okay. It's meant to be over the top. The ML isn't convincing in every scene but in most of them. It's a nice little drama with great music. I like it so far.
Rewatching this right now and this couple is still one of ny favourites. The last arc with the childhood connection and the fire still feels a bit much and draggs the story unnecessaryly. But everything else is great. I would love to see a thriller romcom like this again.
I think networks need a bit more diversity storywise. It's like copy and paste atm. Of course this may be good but ...well... after WHC and Study group and Undercover High school this looks redundant.
