This adaption was nice but nowhere as good as the kdrama. I liked the actors and the faster pacing but it lacked depth. Also nothing can top Ji Chang Wooks rants during Business meetings, the annoying laughter of his ex-friend and the funny old man. The villain was also more charismatic.
But I prefer the japanese "Marry my husband" over the korean one. That's a great adaption.

He was basically why I watched the show. Sumin was great too.

So far I like Chang Wons story the most and I really like his character. Sang Gi and Mun Young have interesting arcs too The love story of the main couple is ok but the least interesting thing for me. Could be because these two aren't my dave actors while I really love the supporting cast. But they LJS und MGY are good too. I won't complain. It's a good Show.

For me it´s LJS. I never cared for him but I think this show (and his acting) is good. You should give it a try. The supporting cast ist fantastic and MGY is good too in it. I like her but she´s not one of my faves either.

Oh, I realized that too. It´s as if the scriptwriter HAS to check the box for "past connection". LOL
In real life most people don´t get together with their childhood buddy but there are examples too of course.

I still think this is a clever written series with characters that feel real. I could have lived without the lovers reuniting trope though. In SK nobody seems to meet his or her partner on adult life it seems. Lol

I prefer shorter dramas in most cases. There are less unnecessary sub plots if done right. But it depends on the script and the execution tbh.

I hope they don't add the villain from the last arc in the kdrama as she was what let that version fall flat. Is this role needed from the source material? But I think the scriptwriters are quite capable so I'm sure they wrote something that makes sense.

I agree. The script is much better as they explain the mechanisms better. I also think that it's almost always better to condens a plot in 10 or 12 episodes. I love long stories but more episodes aren't needed for most of the modern drama plots. It's different with historical dramas but the modern ones seem to drag the last arc or add too many unnecessary side characters which don't move the plot forward and distract from the storyline.
But there have been some great modern dramas with great scripts and pace recently like "Reborn" or "Our unwritten Seoul". And I am really enjoying "Head over heels" atm.

Yes, she is great! I love to hate her. And I thought noone could surpass the korean actress but the japanese is definetily as good or even better.

Wow.... her entrance when meeting her mother in law was just so hilarious. And the way everyones eyes poppes out by watching her styling. Lol
The actress is phenomenal and just so pretty.

It's great that the writers gave the SML more purpose here than to pine for the FL. The bromance is great. And the SML seems to get another love interest. It's realistic. Let a sML move on for once;-)

I really like Satoh Takeru. I´m always happy to discover him in a drama I´m watching. I tend to watch dramas if the plot interests me. Only sometimes I watch a drama for a special actor but many times I was dissapointed. So it´s nice to have so many of his dramas on my watchlist. He tends to pick scripts I want to watch.

I really liked the korean version although I think they messed up the last act. I especially thought t hat the two villains (her hubby and her bestie) were greatly casted in the kdrama. So I thought it would be hard to top their performance. But I have to confess - I even like the japanese version more so far. The storytelling is better as you can follow it much easier. I also prefer the two main leads by a mile. The ML is much more charismatic. The FL feels more like a real person to me as her face emotes much more than Park Min Young did ( I like her, but I think she was better in other dramas than this). The villains- although not better - are equally convincing. I also love that the story is more condensed leaving unnessary secondary plot lines out. I also think that they altered the story enough to give you a feeling to watch something new and not just a paint-by-numbers-version. Well done! I will definetily wtach it till the end and hope that they alter the last act to get a more wholesome watching experience.

This is my first time watching a LJS drama. He never was an actor that interested me before. But in this case I really like the supporting cast. So I gave this a chance. IMO the first episode had a western feel except for the food parts. I watched many law dramas in my life. The whole concept feels very realisitic here. The characters are interesting and feel like real people. I also think that the acting is great and the cases aren´t that far-fetched. The storytelling is clever, humouristic and well-paced. I also love that you don´t hear the typical soundtrack pop music in it. Maybe that will change in later episodes but so far I´m enjoying it. And maybe after that I´ll get to know what the whole fuss about LJS is about. LOL

BTW - I really like Im Sung Jae as an actor. He always plays these gray characters. It would be great to see him getting a loveline this time around.

I wasn´t surprised how the couples turned out. I just didn´t know that it´s normally the ML who always gets the FL. These dramas weren´t that clear who was the ML/FL at the start. But beeing an experienced reader and drama watcher (mainly western dramas at that point) the ending wasn´t that left center in comparision to what I already watched. It was only different from all the kdramas I watched after. LOL
That said, I really love kdramas. I also enjoyed some cdramas and jdramas recently. I would´t say eastern dramas are better than western though. I appreciate that it´s almost always just one season in eastern dramas and I think the koreans do great romances, horror and slice of life dramas while the chinese do very good historical dramas. But IMO western dramas are better in the thriller genre and suspence genre. And regarding fantasy - I watched great one from many different countries.

Ironically three of my first kdramas were Love alarm, Itaewon class and Start up. In all of them it wasn't clear who would be endgame. Imagine my surprise when I watched more kdramas and found out that these were the exception.
I also wasn't used to the unwavering feelings of a ML. I found that rather cute.

Of course not. Each culture has their tropes. But it never hurts to play with them on purpose. I like kdramas too. But sometimes couple ships can get into the way of creative storytelling. And sometimes they throw a couple at you that doesn't make sense only for whatever purpose.

I disagree if you don't mind. I'm not refering to Hollywood movies but TV shows. There are many examples where it's unclear how the loveline ends, f.e. Vampire Diaries, Dawsons creek, O.C. California, Never have I ever...
But of course there are also many examples for the traditional route.
Nevertheless I'd love to see something unexpected no matter if eastern or western.
