I just want to warn you with the talk about Yang Zi being forced. I was here in this forum page ever since the beginning. There was a lot of bad comment from Yang Zi fans regarding her partaking in this drama. The debate back then was not pretty at all, and the leftover of bad blood still remain until now. I just don't want this forum to devolve into fan fight.
It is good if you are only mentioning it without any other motive. But, for people who familiar with the fight back then, your words will be taken differently.
Why? Her best work was in AOL. Her dramas after that haven't been that good. How do you know she was forced?
I don't understand why people discredit xianxia. Every popular actress nowadays, get popular because of them starring in xianxia. Zhao Li Ying starred in The Journey of Flower. Yang Mi starred in Ten Miles Peach Blossom. Even Yang Zi herself got so popular, I think after she starred in Ashes of Love. What is wrong with doing this kind role again? Do you think just because your previous role is so successful then you are already an expert so will not do the same thing again? I can understand actor/actress desire to try any type of character. But nothing wrong with xianxia genre itself. Also, Yan Dan is different from Jinmi. Jinmi is unfeeling. But Yan Dan is full of feel.

The pace is indeed fast but the script is good enough, added by good acting from both leads. Thus, we can see their relationship budding bit by bit. I think their love is quite believable up to now. At the start, Ying Yuan only think that Yan Dan is good seed worth to be nurtured by him. Yan Dan just think of him as annoying sovereign lord. But, we can see that they attracted by each other little by little and getting more and more comfortable with each other.
I can completely understand why someone like Yan Dan will finally fall to Ying Yuan. Despite his quirk, Ying Yuan is kind and benevolent lord. In a way, he is very pure. It is no wonder someone like Yan Dan will admire him and finally fall for him. On the other hand, Ying Yuan has tighter control over his emotion. But, then he get poisoned and dying, not to mention very stressed. His control is in tatter, thus finally he let himself "go".
