I can see why they keep on casting him in this kind of angst drama. He can make any angst so natural and believably real. Everytime I got a dose of his drama, I will need some time to re-calibrate my brain to be able to stomach other actors, hahahahaha.
AOL, I was disappointed with the acting from both lead, especially Deng Lun. Deng Lun failed to exude the majesty of God of War, in my opinion. In the angst moment, I expected more from Yang Zi since I heard that she was good. I read the novel, and in the novel Jin Mi pain after killing Xu Feng is so great. I could not sense that from the drama. Yang Zi was indeed a good cryer in AOL but her sadness seemed lacking consistency. Well, perhaps the script or the director were to be blamed back then, too. The story telling indeed was stretched too much, too many filler.
Hahahaha. I am also worried that I cannot take it. Yan Dan angst will be quite immense in the end of heaven arc. The episode release is too slow for my liking. I worry that watching this live will end up making me frustrated for a whole day ..... But, it is very fun to be able to discuss with all of you here
Episode 10 is very beautiful. I even need to re-watch right after I am done to savor once again the beauty of it. This is an episode with full focus on Ying Yuan - Yan Dan budding relationship. Acting is great from both lead. The kiss scene ....... It is so lustful
This episode once again reminds me why I am so in love with Cheng Yi acting. This man somehow is in perfect control of his eyes, expression, and his whole body. All his gesture is so natural, no stiffness at all. It is so comfortable watching him. Whatever the story telling, at the very least I would never have cringe moment because of actor "fake gesture"
Yan Dan angst moment is coming in a few days. Hopefully Yang Zi will continue to deliver. I know I have my share on disappointment with lots of Chinese actress on their inability to let their anguish shown on screen.

I see. I checked out the user comments on twitter after reading your post and I realized that some features are indeed not yet adapted to the iPad. I indeed get some trouble with screen rotation (problem with full screen), but I found a trick to manage. Hopefully Youku will improve the app soon

Cannot say enough how happy I am that this comes out. Usually xianxia drama takes long time to come out because of immense post production work.
Watched until episode 7 last night. CGI is very great in episode 7. The war scene is well done. C-drama really has come long way regarding CGI. I still remember the bad CGI in old dramas, hahahaha. Regarding the story, I like it so far. The pacing is okay. We can see the lead's relationship building up "normally". I dislike those dramas that just throw FL and ML together and makes them fall in love so hard within 2 episodes (literally will die for each other).
What a nice surprise!! I am so ready to be disappointed and bracing myself to swallow the fact that this drama won't come out this summer. I even checked douban forum yesterday with no information regarding the airing date. So happy when my work colleague showed me that Immortal Samsara starts today. Youku really great in trolling us, hahaha

If you are so into the novel, I should say this adaptation is an abomination. In the beginning the change is still understandable, but going deeper it just messed up.
If you want to see a faithful adaptation, I suggest you watch the animation instead. But if you like this kind of genre and certain actor/actress, this is an acceptable drama as standalone.
Could you recommend any other drama of Tan Jian Ci...
He seemed to get past my observation all the time. I remember liking Cao Pi in Secret of Three Kingdom, but never realized it is the same person as the one playing Shen Yi in Under the Skin, hahahaha.
I agree that his acting skill is good. It is so sad that he got sidetracked until now. I am waiting for Are You Safe, too. Also Winner is King ..... truly hope this drama will be released somehow.
