Tang Can's acting career fell through. So now she's only doing some odd jobs here and there, hardly making ends…
This drama has us all reminded of the typical Asian family (not sure with the severity in other cultures). All the adult parents and neighbors who always think they know best just because they're older. And those very few who understand and care for what we feel.
There are tons. But some are: their sitting arrangements on the dinning table before the brothers left and when they returned. I saw someone post in on IG and it was spot on. It's about their closeness from each other. So before, Jian Jian was between the bothers, but now she's between the fathers. In the next episode where they will reconcile, they'd eat at her apartment and she will move her seat from farthest to between them again. Hmmm... Another is the watermelon scene before Ling Xiao left. Jian Jian said that the middle is the sweetest and she insistently gave it to Long Xiao but it feel. I felt like it's his life that he needs to give up because of his mother's issues. And the shoes as supposed graduation gift that turned into a parting article. You know what it means right away. OMG! I can go on.
In my country, VIP is only until episode 17 (as of this writing) in all platforms (iQiyi, WeTV, MGTV). Which episode…
??? Same here!!! We have to do a virtual high five! Snippets and fan posts on IG and YT are consuming my weekends... And responding to post here on MDL. But I aint guilty one bit. Haha
I'm curious about what happened to Tang Can over the 9 yr jump. Did she get pregnant, married & divorced? In ep…
It's actually her online job where she plays roles for people who hire her. She was hired by the kid's parents to attend the school meeting. There was a scene where she was given low rating by the parents because she treated the kid to KFC after the meeting despite not being asked to. Tang Can did not reach the fame she has always wanted so her Mom's implicitly ashamed of her and she's being asked to take Civil Service instead which she doesn't like. She won't survive much if she's not living with her friends, quite miserable on the financial side. Jian Jian even vented that she alone paid 6 mos for their rent. Then she melted when Mingyue's Mom told her that her life's being wasted.
I love both seven & steven acting in here. Seven as jianjian is so cute and very dependable to her 'brothers'…
I totally agree! This is the first time I've seen Seven but she's already caught my attention. Specially in the heart-to-heart scene on the table between her and her Dad about her brothers leaving. Man! That was on-point! The sniffing, her avoidance on eye contact, the suttle trembling of the lips-- that's how a normal person in that situation would look like. I was hesitant to watch it at first but now I can't stop. ???

I was pertaining to Ziqiu. But you enlightened me on Dad Li's and ZQ's mom. I thought there's already an episode somewhere. I can't even find the raws past 17. LoL. Thank you!
This story has A LOT of symbolisms. You have to always keep your eyes open. Again, I regret watching it when it's still ongoing. But at the same time, I love to look forward to a new episode everyday.
Liked the interaction between big and little but was totally uninterested in either boyfriend and dropped it.
I thought so as well at first and was about to drop it like you did. However, turned out, the story wasn't purely about her interactions with the men but more of her acceptance of her 2 selves. It was more of existentialism and feminism than romanticism.
I knew that Ni Ni is a good actress but she shined here more. That sadness and sudden change of personality especially the desperation scene triggered my empathy and memories. This is a pretty good movie with existentialism and feminism. I loved how it did not rely on the romantic conflict and you are left to decide how she'd take her life forward. Not too deep but not too shallow: just enough blend to keep you going and thinking.
I am in episode 8 and I still can't figure out the real relationshop between Ye Ling and Xiao Xing. I am inferring they're like full or step siblings. But it just isn't directly stated anywhere, it's annoying me because I feel like I lost that somewhere in the past episodes. Can someone confirm?
