Kang Min, as much as how kind you may seem, I'd still choose Do Ha over you.
I'd rather have someone who wouldn't hide me from the truth, no matter how painful it may be, than to have someone who lies about being okay just to make me feel good.

I'd rather have someone who spends his time discussing about trivial things of day to day with me, than have someone who speaks about building a future together but couldn't even share his challenges with me.

Your poor communication skills and mistrust on Solhee's capability to withstand trials with you makes you a walking red flag, Kang Min-ah.

Idk it's not doing it for me, it's very unfocused. The premise is very compelling but the narrative not so much. It's definitely not bad, just missing something. I hope it kicks up in future episodes.

As much as I like this drama I'm not particularity fond of backstories. I feel like episodes 8 and 9 could have been 1 episode if they didn't stretch out some situations and scenes so much.

So far they're still minimal but idk in the future, the SML might get tangled not only in the romance dept but also in the crime case, I really hope it won't get too annoying. Coz idk, unpopular opinion but I don't get the charm of the SML & I don't like love triangle in a drama either.

However w/ that being said, I find this drama is good so far, the main leads interaction, how their relationship evolved is quite refreshing to see & the kind that makes your heart flutter, one of the best romcom I've seen on 2023 after a long drought of good romcom, so it's worth to try.

Yea, heard of it, but couldn't care for that any lesser tbh, his character still gets on my nerve esp with his line "it's not like they got married anw, so let's see where they go (won't give up on her)"

I'll never understand why some of you make sure to torture themselves by watching something they obviously hate just so they can waste more time writing essays about how much they hate it 😭. Your time should be too precious to be wasted like that

I want to clown the SML so bad lmao, but I'm not able to. Honestly, I don't particularly like him or hate him. The actor's really cute though that's distracting. But, the ML is too strong of a character and the FL is just not into the SML, LOL. So, when he's all like "take all my wittle pototo chippies bbygirl," like dude, I don't whether to laugh or cry.

The point of the beach is to not be alone in a world where you have to go through death game to earn visas to live. You have food, alcohol, parties, anything that helps you forget the fucked up reality of their situation. Hatter created the beach to give hope, he invented this "escape route" through the gathering of the cards. He wanted people to not feel hopeless anymore and gathered them in a hotel so everyone can be part of a community (a bit like how in every apocaliptic movies/shows people always try to build communities to not be alone), with the same goal : gathering all the cards necessary to GET OUT. That's false though (or is it?) since he invented that. There was never any escape through the gathering of the card (at least that we know of), that's just what he told people to give them hope. That lie and that community he built put him in a position of power and he lost it. He changed. He forgot that it's all an illusion, he fed too much on the power he had, he became delusional. Aguni who was there with him since the beginning (they arrived together in this "world" and were best friend before) saw his best friend change and turn into a greedy man that started to believe his own lies (he literally killed people who didn't give in their card even though he KNOWS the cards are meaningless). The power the community gave him changed him. So when Hatter pointed a gun to Aguni, Aguni believed he was in real danger, he thought he best friend was really going to kill him, so he shot him first before understanding that Hatter's gun was empty, there were no bullet, he was never going to kill Aguni. Aguni lost his ONLY friend in this whole world, he felt helpless and wanted to avenge his friend by killing those that changed him so much that he thought he had to kill him to not die himself. His mind and hear was broken and the game master used that to compute the 10 of heart game (a game of heart, that toys with people's emotions). The game master knew Aguni would use the game to get his revenge and the more the dead, the funnier apparently for the game master.
As for why Aguni was presented as rival to the Hatter, as explained, it was because the dangerous people that kill for fun needed a leader to keep them in check, and Aguni had to fulfill that role. But he couldn't openly show his friendship because then those people he tried to keep in check could look down on him for getting walked on by the hatter, hence the "rivality".

Two rules on the beach : bathing suit for all (in order to not have anyone conceal weapons) and death to traitors (that rule was added when Hatter lost in mind and killed people for cards). Once you join the beach, you can't leave or it's treason (if you wondered why they stayed).
Overall they only stayed max 3 days there anyway.

As for the beach and it's ambiance, the story was written for you to not "like" the beach or to feel like the fitting in is impossible because that's how the main character felt. We follow the show through his eyes. It felt ridiculous how everyone was so loyal to the hatter because that's how arisu felt. He lives his life without law or care (dude spent his time playing video game instead of being productive), he's not about to start following the rules and command of some guy just because.

Yeah in all honesty the writers should have made it more easy for the audience to tell the difference by switching the sounds for truth and lies. Lies should have be a long low DONG and truths should have been a short high pitch DING, which to me, makes more sense rather than what they have currently which is vice versa. I'm honestly not sure, it could be that for Do Ha, when he's lying he BELIEVES his lies to the point that it comes out as the truth and that is what could be causing Sol Hee's radar to go on the fritz. From what we've seen, Do Ha is the most truthful out of everyone she's talked with and I think that Do Ha believes his guilt and lies so much to the point that it comes out as a "false truth" to Sol Hee. I think that's the theory that makes the most sense for her radar fritzting out.

Either way I'm dying for episode 5 TT^TT

Personally I'm enjoying this drama. I wasn't expecting much going in and I knew that the plot and romance would be cliche, however I'm enjoying this more than I thought. The acting is natural for everyone and I'm appreciating the flow and how the acting isn't over the top, goofy or to comedic. It's good to have romance dramas with a bit more serious undertones to make it feel more grounded and realistic. Although shows like King the Land are fantastic in terms of comedy and romance, sometimes it's nice to have something a bit more slow paced and toned down in terms of romance and acting to make it relatable.

For those who are criticizing Min Hyun's acting, I think that he's doing a wonderful job. I've been following him since Alchemy of souls and I think he's doing a great job. He fits a more reserved ML role and his character fits him well since he's more quite so I think his natural way of expressing his character makes him fit for the role. I think his panic attack is what really made me like his character and his scene in ep.4 where he went along with Sol Hee and helping her out acting as her bf. That scene felt raw to me and I honestly like how the story is so far.

I have to admit, like everyone else I'm still slightly confused about the differentiation between the sounds for when Sol Hee is listening to a lie and truth. I think I have figured it out though since some people are saying Kim Do Ha (Min Hyun) was telling the truth and thinks he killed his ex when he was dreaming however I think it's the opposite. In ep4 the CEO of Do Ha was lying when he gave his business card to Sol Hee and lying for Do Ha by saying he was unemployed (the loud DING ring is indication of someone lying) however the DONG low pitch sound is someone telling the truth (In ep. 4 Do Ha said he doesn't like Syaon and never say her as a women which the audience knows is the truth and is when we heard the DONG plus the DONG sounds we heard we he was in the room with the other artist being scoped out). However he LIED to her regarding his name in ep. 4 and we still heard the DONG so what I'm thinking is that he is able to lie and she can't tell the difference (remember the couch scene when they were watching "Master's Sun"). So the ending for ep. 4 when Do ha was dreaming he "killed" his ex was him TELLING THE TRUTH with the loud DONG which would make more sense then him telling the truth that he killed her and lying since Sol Hee is helping him in ep. 5 preview. and how she might help him find the real culprit. That's how I see it anyways however I'm still a bit confused regarding the sounds.

Anyways I can't wait till the next ep!
