I am the mother of an adult son who is Deaf. I am only halfway through Episode 1 and I am sobbing at the wonderful…
There are tons of amazing J dramas with sincere portrayals of deafness. You may want to check out some of these - Shizuka Chan to Papa Kimi No Te Ga Sasayaite Iru Kokoro No Ito Silent Aishiteiru to Ittekure
A quiet, emotional and thought-provoking drama that is not clearly not for the faint-hearted because of the abuse and violence. Having said that, it began as a story of abuse and trauma, but ended as a story about love and letting go. It was not perfect by any means, but it definitely moved me.
LMAOOOOOOOO You can't tell me this wasn't meant to be a parody / satire of the Asian melodramas from the early 2000s. Like everything about it was so on point, and hilarious.. Thank you for the laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed this 2 episode melodrama. Seriously just watch it if you're in the mood to laugh at all those cliches and tropes that melodramas had. This one literally has every damn trope you can think of.
ALL OF THIS IS SO HILARIOUS I AM CRACKING UP AT EVERY SCENE indecisive poor female lead CHECK the narration CHECK all the cliches you can think of CHECK the love triangle CHECK the first love trope CHECK the evil character CHECK crazy in-laws torturing the female lead CHECK spoilt chaebol male lead CHECK rich family secrets relating to the ML CHECK LMAOOOOOOOOOOO I CAN'T EVEN -
Imagine having the ultimate king and queen of 90s J dramas pair up together, the expectations would be sky high and boy this didn't disappoint. The way the ML loved the FL, the angst, the chemistry.. ahh the feels these classic dramas bring, I can never get enough of them. This was by no means perfect and had its frustrating moments but Kimu Taku and Tokiwa Takako, as always, brought their A game and charm to this. The last 5 episodes were especially moving.
"I'm beginning to forget you. Forgetting so much love is terrifying." This film was a poetic, immersive and haunting experience depicting an illicit affair between two people who were scarred by the Hiroshima bombings and war. A film way ahead of its time. Watch it for the powerful cinematography / visuals and thoughtful dialogues on loss, tragedy and love.
