Ep 5 was so beautiful. Haruto waking up clearly did the magic. It was a great episode of bonding, and support. The only thing that creeped me out was the nurse - purlease we could do without love triangles in this drama.
Ep 6. Eh I thought Kazuki was married? Did I hear it wrong or misunderstand it? Glad that Asuka communicated her feelings with Haruto, and decided to pursue her dream. Looks like Riko's got a stalker...
Ep 7 - Haruto piggy-backing Asuka was lovely, and that OST was the cherry on top. You can see that Haruto is falling in love with Asuka all over again. Thoughtful of him to get her a present. I'm beginning to feel their chemistry. Did they have to end the episode with that bad omen of the nurse walking past URGHHH Like I was just feeling happy about the development between the leads and they had to tease that stupid triangle JUST WHY
E8 - I love that no one is trying to break the leads up (be it the nurse or Kazuki). Even Megumi realises her value and left saying that she wants a man who loves her 100% instead of clinging on to him. I am surprised at how much I'm enjoying this show post E4. Their break up made sense. I am glad both of them communicated their issue. I have to say one thing; humans are weird. Haruto broke up with her because she cared too much and was too considerate.. if she hadn't cared, he would probably be equally unhappy. So the question begs WHAT DO HUMANS REALLY WANT haha We are weird creatures.
Episodes 5-8 were the best episodes yet. I enjoyed them! I hope they keep the classic vibe this drama has. And the OST of this drama is so so beautiful.
4 episodes in, I like mellow vibe, and the soothing score. But I don't feel invested in the characters. Will watch…
I need to get this out of the way first. The way he fell of the bridge was badly executed. Couldn't they have come up with a better way? It felt like he jumped off LOL. So unbelievable.
The characters feel very one-note. The writing lacks depth. Sunshine ML, goody FL, struggling side characters. The way they smile all the time in the flashbacks feels very forced.
ML - Give us more of him beyond his smile and secret crush. His flaws, his dreams, his journey. Gordon was good in Promise Cinderella, but in this drama, he's a miss so far.
FL- Many of us downplay our achievements and desires. But because we have no context as to why she keeps doing that, it is frustrating.
Kazuki - What's the point of hinting at a possible love triangle / him liking Asuka that too when he's married? Is the show really planning to go there? WHY?
Friend with married boyfriend - INSENSITIVE of her to demean Asuka saying she didn't work hard in an attempt to justify married boyfriend who was apparently very nice and supportive of her while being married to another. OKAY.
I feel like this would have worked better as a movie. I don't see how they'll make this an 11 episode drama.
Some of the trailers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7WMKnaXybc LMAOOOOO at the way he wishes her happy birthday and she's all moved "sensei" and then goes in her deadpan voice it was yesterday Also looks like they met before he saved her? (At least based on my limited understanding of Japanese)
If you enjoy unconventional movies that have an odd streak and are philosophical, then you'll enjoy this gem. It is essentially a character study into a man dealing with grief, isolation and anger, and his attempt to fight the system that took it all away. I'd recommend this for a mature audience.
Its the list I needed. I started watching some j-dramas with a friend recently and I was pleasantly surprised…
Welcome to J-dramas :) I am so glad more people are beginning to realize how good they are. I don't know about availability but I'm glad they're far from international influence, and that Japanese continue to make cinema for themselves. For me, S Korean dramas began to lose their charm after they started making them for international audiences.
The line "Sanpei-sensei, you've illuminated me" in the last scene of EP 9 is an ad-lib by Sugisaki Hana. Then,…
DAMN that ad-lib was perfect! Their vulnerability in that entire scene; so beautifully and naturally acted. I didn't even realize they were acting until the episode ended.
You know its a script written by Sakamoto Yuji's the moment they started talking. This man just has a knack for writing a conversation and establishing that banter between characters. I love the actors and Sakamoto sensei so I persevered through hoping it would have more depth, but there wasn't. It just felt like a series filled with random conversations, or maybe I just wansn't in the right mood for the drama. Maybe it would have worked with a slightly longer duration and some context.. The acting was solid though. All the actor siblings were fun! Episode 2 was my favourite. P.S I always knew Kento and Eita look alike but damn they looked like twins in this :0
The first episode had such a sophisticated, and sexy vibe.. the kind of drama you'd watch while sipping a glass…
Episodes 1-4 The direction this show took is different from what I expected, but it's interesting so far. The friend is a douche. He seduced the married woman just because he wants to do it with an older married once?! Like WTF. Humans have the habit of classifying / grouping people into categories and generally all those who engage in an affair are bracketed into 1 group but I like how this show makes that distinction between the ML and the friend. Its weird saying this given he's engaging in an immoral act of affair (and the very basis of it is a lack of loyalty) but he's sincere and loyal about the FL unlike the friend who treats women like objects of pleasure.
4 episodes in, the one thing that I wish this show did was showing us the FL's perspective. Like we get why the ML fell in love with her, but what about her? She doesn't seem like the kind of person who goes around sleeping with tons of men / cheating. Also we know almost nothing about her. I kinda wish the show didn't go into their affair in the very first episode and actually had them interact a little more. And why does she keep calling him to her parties or having a meal with her husband? Is she doing that to play with him or doing that to turn him off? Also how is the husband so cool with his wife constantly hanging out with a boy from university? I mean it's not like he's her office colleague or student. I get that they know his mother but still.. The ML is beginning to lag behind at uni - that's not good Toru!
Interesting parallel with the way Toru offered to pay the money and was rejected, while the friend was offered money. Both had the effect of establishing the power dynamics with the woman being dominant, and the man being subservient.
DAMN the end of E4 - things just got even messier... why do so many people think sex is the answer to solving a problem?
Also the OST of this show doesn't match the vibe at all - they should have gone for a softer / slower song or classical music piece.
The only thing that creeped me out was the nurse - purlease we could do without love triangles in this drama.
