I guess I don't understand how they are trying to develop the character of fah, so far he sounds like a jerk (which…
My thoughts exactly. I kept thinking this isn't like Fah at all. Admittedly we didn't see that much of him in SIMM, but it might have been better to have a little foreshadowing of what is/was going on with him.
Okay, so it's a bit of a poor man's ATOTS, but so far so good. It's far better than SIMM, which isn't too difficult, but there seems to be a bit more depth to the story, rather than just relying on the painfully dull relationship between Dao and Kluen, so hopefully it'll keep it interesting. Also, having some more experienced actors gives it a noticeable boost. The only thing that I would not exactly criticise is the fact that the Fah in this seems different to the Fah in SIMM. In SIMM, Fah just seemed to sit around the condo reading books, but in this we are to believe he was going out and getting sloshed all the time. I don't really care, but that's my observation. Anyway, I like Mek and my hopes have been raised that I will enjoy this.
Do I need to have watched SIMM in order to watch this? Like I know that they're separate stories (though connected),…
Not at all. The only connection is that they are brothers, but very little of the overall story is related. I've only just watched the first episode by SIYH is much much better than SIMM.
I think I agree with everything you've said here. I'm desperately hoping SIYH will be good because I really liked…
Yeah, looks like the same screenwriter, but hopefully they have built upon their experiences with the first part and are able to make the second reasonable. I know I'm probably deluding myself, but please please please be decent. π
Maybe some of the lower budget series don't have the same intensive workshops that some of the other series have where the couple can develop strong emotions that can be translated to the screen, or maybe not every pairing is destined to have good chemistry. Having said that, the script/storyline and direction in this was part of the problem too.
Anyway, didn't want that to seem like a rant, but I'm hoping and praying SIYH blows me away with how good it is.
what was the purpose of episode 8 like ?? this series started off well and ended up an absolute train wreck -…
I see what you did there. π Yep, but episode 8 was the fluffiest of fluff and was completely and utterly unnecessary. A lot of series I don't want to end, but this couldn't finish soon enough.
Well, it's the end. Like, finally. Now we can move on to Sky in Your Heart. Though looking at the script quality,…
I think I agree with everything you've said here. I'm desperately hoping SIYH will be good because I really liked the look of the original preview and I'm happy to see more of Mek, but that car crash thing... oh boy. π
Okay, so I ended up skimming through the last episode because it contributed virtually nothing aside from the mentions of SIYH. This was such a weak series with a flimsy premise and poor execution. Everything about it felt really low effort and overall extremely forgettable. Unfortunately I'm setting my expectations for SIYH to zero, despite really looking forward to it. I think I'm experiencing a degree of series fatigue, but the massive difference between really high quality and well executed series and things like SIMM is becoming more evident and might make me a bit more choosy with what I watch from now on. If it starts out disappointing, it's likely to stay that way.
One of the big problems is that when the majority of the series being made were like this we would tend to watch…
I don't think I watched more than two episodes of SCOY and even that was a struggle. At one time it would be extremely rare for me to drop a series, but lately I probably drop an equal number of series as the ones I watch. If SIMM had been a standalone series I would have likely given up on it, but I kept watching because I wanted to see how it lead into Sky in Your Heart, but by the looks of it that was mostly unnecessary.
From reading the comments I am so disappointed. I'm going to watch it because of Joong and because I'm curious,…
One of the big problems is that when the majority of the series being made were like this we would tend to watch without questioning it too much, but the fact they are making the occasional series that is excellent, the contrast between the two is stark. Unfortunately there are fans who will praise a series because the actors are cute or the story is sweet, despite it having no substance whatsoever. I was reading comments on YT last night after watching episode 7 and people were calling this a masterpiece. I can understand someone enjoying it, but a masterpiece? The fact this has 8.2 rating on here is madness. As always, different things appeal to different people, but objectively this is mid-range at best.
He's not the best, but I do think what they've been given to work with is pretty bad. Even Joong seems really awkward in this and Kluen's inability to communicate limits what he can do with the character and comes across as bad acting as well.
They can play all the sweet music they like, but I just don't see any spark between these two characters or any reason why I should care if they end up together. There's just so little substance to this and it doesn't make me too hopeful for Sky in Your Heart which is the part I was looking forward to most.
I think it's because almost everyone in this is unpleasant. There are three villains, two of which get way too…
I think I can agree with just about everything there. It's such a waste of the cast. The only character I like is Pirada and she hardly gets any screen time.
This series is such a mess. Episode 6 was a real turning point for me. Up until now I kinda felt sorry for Dao for being dicked around by Kluen, but the way Dao has been dicking around Phoon makes me think Dao and Kluen deserve one another. If Kluen can't explain why he has to bugger off to help Gia at the drop of a hat, then their relationship isn't off to a good start and I can only see misery to come. Maybe things will become clearer in the last two episodes, but I still have no idea why we should care if they end up together or not because despite Kluen's assertion that he *loves* Dao, I just don't see it and Dao will just end up being a doormat.
I mean, I'm kind of rooting for Phoon. When he first told Daonuea that he liked him, I was like, well this one's…
I do feel sorry for Phoon. In typical fashion the good guy seems to lose out. Maybe Kluen will prove his worth, but his annoyingly aloof and non-communicative attitude irritates me.
My biggest problem with this series is I just don't care if Dao and Kluen end up together. I don't see any real connection between them and other than the storyline bringing them together I wouldn't pick them as a potential couple. My only real reason for still watching it is Mek and the setup for Sky in Your Heart. Not everything can be brilliant, but from the very first episode this has felt like a paint by numbers kind of series. Sadly forgettable.
I've really really really tried with this series, but I just can't anymore. The first episode was promising, but the rest of it so far has been pretty low quality. Somehow I could breeze through 90 minutes of The Miracle of Teddy Bear, but I can barely make it through a 15 minute part of this without it feeling like it's taken me all day. Realistically it isn't a terrible series, but there have been so many excellent ones lately that this sort of middle of the road production just pales in comparison.
And it looks like I've stopped watching at the right time because I don't need to see Bas anytime soon.
