watched the entire drama and honestly, it felt like it had no real plot for most of its run, only the last episode…
the title really speak about Ho-Jin and Mu-Hee.

On Can This Love Be Translated? Jan 19, 2026
because of someone's comment here, i rewatch again.

in episode 2, when she reunited again with Ho-Jin in an interview.
I can feel her happy feeling passing through the screen. It really touching.

His deep voice, someone voice that she recognize, suddenly can be heard behind her.

She keep smiling during interview, she try to peek on him, flustered and keep on smiling. Her meeting with Ho-Jin in Japan have deep impression to her, she said that in the interview. This all really set the tone for the rest of this show.

Hiro fell for the sunshine, glowing happy girl not knowing she is glowing because of the man speaking in her ears…
Nice one, never thought of that Hiro only see her as Mu-Hee the celebrity. Her bright side attracted him, he never know her dark side.

But, other than that, the show have made it very clear what kind of person Mu-Heel will fall for.

She craved for love, she attracted to someone kind.
True that Hiro have kindness part, the show tell us through his interaction with his nephew. But his kindness is not in the same level as Ho-Jin, who checking on her while she is coma in hospital for 6 months.

Maybe Hiro's kindness isn't the same level with the chef who left Mu-Hee to marry a pregnant woman, knowing it's not even his kid. What he did to Mu-Hee is wrong, but he have kindness to raise other dude's kid.

Sure its solely my assumption that he have more kindness that attracted Mu-Hee, it just the show didn't tell us. It just begin with her searching her ex across the sea, after being ghosted for about 3 months.

Because of her past when she is a kid, she craved for love.

Hiro's narcistic side won't suit her.

In episode two. We all can feel how happy she is when she reunited with Ho-Jin again. Their first meeting in Japan, even it short, really have have deep impression to her.

Why is the translation of a drama about translation, so terrible? Sometimes it was like a total different story…
so us audience can feel Hiro's situation?

I'm at the end of EP6 and the conversation they had before leaving Canada was so weird. Like why didn't he just…
in real convo he should have cut her speak, and speak his mind, then grab her hand.

but yeah.

from his pov that time, Ho-Jin is already moved on from Ji-Seon, he is started to open his heart for Mu-Hee.
but....
with Mu-Hee's reaction, he thought that she isn't really into him, like her effort is just to feed her curiosity. After previous Ho-Jin's rejection, he thought that she approached him just to win over Do Rami.
He thought her effort is just to save her own dignity after his rejection. No genuine feeling.

we should open specific thread about this conversation from episode 6

I always thought it was cute and funny. but it wasn't funny when she missed her flight just to go find him, and…
she left airport to meet to Ho-Jin before Ho-Jin able to speak to Ji-Seon.

i forgot, maybe to confirm Ho-Jin about his feeling to Mu-Hee. They kind of bonding since the northern lights till on the way on airport.

She kind of jump first think later. She hope to meet Ho-Jin before he meet Ji-Seon.

So when she saw Ho-Jin talk to Ji-Seon, she felt she failed her mission (the reason she ran away from airport to begin with). Then she don't know what to do, then her head started to make assumption. Then Do Rami appeared to make things worse.

i also hate that the crew was blaming her for lost eye contact, but it had nothing to do with misogyny. Hiro is…
it's also her insecurity that made her feel guilt for something she didn't.

she felt little so she try to please everyone, remember that she almost fail to have the job.

Man, the way they handle the romance is what kills me. They take so much time carefully building up this genuine…
its Ho-Jin's overthinking, and overly melancholy that prevent him to move forward. He need to plan everything, and based on his calculation, their relationship won't work.

then it also Mu-Hee's insecurity (later it will presented by Do Rami) that prevent her to have love she deserved.

2nd part of the drama is about their journey to overcome what i mentioned above. To heal their past trauma, and to solve unfinished business in the past. When we able to read them, and their journey, it's beautifull.

they need him to say exactly what he feels or else they don't understand. children in need of spoon-feeding
so some drama better have subtitle below subtitle.
bottom subtitle is a translation for the kid to understand the situation, or character's emotion.

I can explain this drama in one line-- misunderstanding, misunderstanding and misunderstanding
more like, misunderstanding, misinterpreting, and mistranslate (this is more Netflix's part).

sorry to ruin the party

that is where you both totally wrong.

based on what patient's condition, they will need both professional help, and their family care.

true that doctor, or professional won't care much about their patient more than their own family. but family probably didn't have qualification to examine physical or emotional condition of the patient.

patient is just a job for most professional, theyre not their family. but they can help family of patient to find suitable treatment for the patient. Family will create suitable environment for patient, at least by know patient's condition through professional help, family know how to react to the patient's certain behavior.

I'm in the middle of ep5 and met me tell you something. I totally love that Muhee and Hiro l8terally don't understand…
i dont think she will fall to someone like Hiro. she want someone kind.

her latest ex, the chef, whom left Mu-Hee to marry a pregnant woman to help her, are more kind than Hiro. Mu-Hee attracted to someone selfless like him. She even try to meet his ex oversea.

Ho-Jin is harsh on the shell, but he have kind heart, and he also polite.
Remember when Ho-Jin kept visiting her when she is in hospital for around 6 months?
She is need someone who gave her such attention, because of her past.

Hiro's stardom, or his narcistic part probably prevent Mu-Hee to be attracted to him.

yeah overly melancholy of Ho-Jin, and his overthinking behavior really annoyed me.But like you said, first part…
his realistic thinking always made him read people on the surface.

he can't really read emotion.
the second part of the drama, the plot actually not to get rid Do Ra-Mi. But through Do Ra-Mi, he begin to understand her, and finally able to read her. He didn't really speak in her languange, but at least he can understand her, and know how to react.

remember when they saw their "waterfall"? realistic him can't see it, it's Mu-Hee optimism that made him saw it.

yess it really explored deeper themes, that is why i found it not resonate well to many people. Its not a typical drama.

There is a speech from author Kim to Ho-Jin, that made him think how to learn about her.
Author Kim's word is more or less like this "there are as many languange in the world as many as human population, because every person speak in their own languange".

The second part of the drama, he will receive help to understand Mu-Hee.
