This. From subtitle languages offered for cdramas it is clear which regions are prioritized. Europe is clearly…
I noticed a couple of French girls complaining about Netflix and someone told them to change their language tab to English. They quickly responded that it worked.

@delta777 OMG! I tried, thinking it wouldn't work. But it did! How crazy is that? Thank you so much! I've been wanting to watch Who rules the world for a while now, and now I can. You're the best 😀

I have said this elsewhere but I have a weird feeling that IQiyi only gave Netflix a limited license to simulcast…

As a French person, I laughed so much at this article
the writer clearly has zero understanding of France and…
Zhang Linghe was notably featured in the April 21, 2026 edition of Ouest-France.They published a feature titled along the lines of "The New Faces of Global TV" (French: Les nouveaux visages de la télévision mondiale). They featured him specifically because of the viewership numbers for his drama "Pursuit of Jade" on international streaming platforms.

You can verify this through the Ouest-France Digital Archive (Journal Numérique) for that specific date. It wasn't a cover story for the whole of France, but a major feature in the "Loisirs/Culture" (Leisure/Culture) section.

I hope this huge amount of attention to his person and his economic gains does not attract awareness of the Chinese…
That was my first thought. They've been crucifying Zhang Linghe, and the hate he's getting is BullSh*t. I'm to the point of following his social network accounts, when I've never followed an artist, just to show a little support.

He graduated from prestigious Nanjing Normal University, where he majored in electrical engineering in the School of Electrical and Automation Engineering. He was known as a top student with a strong aptitude for physics, aerospace, and math. He pivoted to acting as he was studying for his master's.

I don't know how one's success defines or cancels out their bigotry or racist remarks. There are plenty of successful…
I'm only a viewer from a southern state in the US. i know what racism/bigotry truly looks like/is and don't believe what he said was racist. Period. Plus he apologized if it hurt feelings. I'm not going to debate it on this site or any other. Today, I see a minority of loud mouth people everywhere getting offended over anything, then bullies people that don't share their view into submission. I was sold on ZLH with his portrayal of the brilliant, yet morally gray Xie Wei in Story of Kunning Palace and admired his interpretation, so not a rabid fan as your implying. I've never said POJ is a masterpiece, etc., and of course acknowledge it had flaws, but I enjoyed it immensely. Obviously millions of likeminded viewers did too and it has nothing to do with success or racism. We just have a different POV. Good day.

lol---- I noticed there are many Zhang Linghe smear merchants on this site; ZLH can't act, ZLH is a racist, ZLH is not popular, and his numbers are inflated on all platforms, including Netflix, or ZLH is just a talentless pretty boy.

Time for a Reality Check:
Zhang Linghe is currently ranked as the most popular Chinese artist globally as of April 2026. His rise is fueled by his record-breaking performance in 2026 Pursuit of Jade, which has dominated domestic and international streaming charts. He recently surpassed established stars like Zhao Lusi, Liu Yuning, and Bai Lu to take the No. 1 spot on global artist popularity trackers like V-Pulse.

"Triple Platform Grand Slam": With his versatile acting and striking visuals, Zhang became the first actor born after 1995 to have three dramas (Story of Kunning Palace, The Princess Royal, and Pursuit of Jade) reach a 10,000 heat index across all three major Chinese streaming platforms: iQIYI, Youku, and Tencent Video.

Historical Records: He achieved the highest single-day popularity value for an actor on the Weibo Actor Influence Index, surpassing 100 million points.

Netflix Success: Pursuit of Jade became the most-viewed C-drama in Netflix history, further cementing its international appeal.

Over 5.3 million new followers in under three weeks across major platforms.
+3.02M on Douyin
– Topic tags surged by 17.5 billion
– “Xie Zheng” tag usage soared to 7.44 billion
+590K on Xiaohongshu
– Added 1.97 billion new tags
– “Xie Zheng” tag reached 1.08 billion
+1.14M on Weibo
– Hashtag followers increased by 320K
+617K on Instagram
Total growth: 5.367 million followers across four platforms is solid proof that Zhang Linghe is locking in his status as one of the industry’s new “Top Traffic” stars.
character--Zhang Linghe's portrayal of Xie Zheng (Marquis of Wu'an) in the 2026 drama Pursuit of Jade has seen meteoric popularity, with the character surpassing 100 million popularity points before release and top-ranking on platforms like Maoyan. Acclaimed for his "visuals", commanding presence, and "green flag" devotion to the female lead. ,

Mocking critique from some critics and netizens regarding his polished look in Pursuit of Jade argues that Fiction Fantasy novel authors should rewrite their novels to accommodate rugged, battle-hardened generals for more authenticity. And even if General Xie Zheng/Marquis Wu' An is described in the original Fiction Fantasy novel as a tall, slender but muscular young general, who was awarded the title Marquis at the age of 20. Whose is head-turningly handsome and refined, with a face like cold jade in its perfection. Despite the controversy over his styling, the character has significantly boosted Zhang's recognition among the public as a talented actor.

With 3.5 BILLION VIEWS in only 3 weeks and other record-breaking numbers, it seems millions upon millions of viewers would disagree with the so-called critics, haters (for whatever reasons), and smear merchants. And have chosen the haunting beauty of POJ and ZLH's nuanced emotional acting, and his handsome and bathed portrayal of General Xie (Marquis Wu'an).

I thought he was the weakest part of what was otherwise a great cast and story. He simply wasn't convincing as…
Oh, please, he is one of the few actors that rides horses and does his own stunts. He's not a professional martial artist, but he can hold his own. The director required him to lose 20 pounds to look like death-warmed-over, since he was found in a snow drift after a battle. His armor weighed 40-50 pounds, and he said it took him a couple of days to adjust, but then he didn't want to take it off. As far as acting the part, the director made a point of greatly toning down the novel's aggressive, abrasive general (who always satisfied his wants, one way or another), to reach a larger family-oriented and female audience. ZLH only started acting a few years ago, since he went to a top university and has an electrical engineering degree with a background in physics. I believe since PoJ had 4 BILLION VIEWS IN 27 DAYS, and ZLH gained 5 million new followers the first week it debuted, plus countless new brand ambassadorships, this would attest to POJ not only being highly successful, but a phenomenon.

His physical acting was great, he was very convincing as a martial artist. Some people are naturally slimmer,…
We are talking about a director demanding an actor lose 20 pounds so that, after being injured from battle and buried under snow, he would look like death warmed over. You can easily see that in his drama "The Best Thing" before POJ, he looks like a completely different person. POJ was not only highly successful, but it was also a phenomenon with 4 BILLION VIEWS IN 27 DAYS. ZLH picked up 5 million new followers and added to his established brand ambassadors with countless new accounts. That's why the critics/haters got loud. I'm not one of his groupies, but I was impressed with his portrayal of the brilliant, yet morally gray Xie Wei in "Story of Kunning Palace." Plus, I enjoyed "Pursuit of Jade," and I like my Generals handsome and bathed.

The novel described General Xie as beyond handsome, and the 4 Billion views in 27 days attest to wanting handsome and bathe Generals. Zhang Linghe slayed as General Xie, and his 5 million new followers agree. POJ isn't just highly successful, it's a phenomenon.

I'm obsessed with this show, and it is pure torture that are releasing only a chapter a day!!! :)
I have Netflix, but watch it on IQIYI for the better translation. I bought the subscription last month to watch Story of Kunning Palace (luved it and my intro to ZLH). Anyway, they have Express Watch, and I believe it starts Tue/Wed, where you can watch the rest of the ep at once. Subscription for the price of one movie ticket and well-worth it for SOKP, much less Jade/express.

Excellent! Zhang Linghe slays as he did in "Story of Kunning Palace". All the subtle facial nuances are mesmerizing. Think...Xie Wie's little brother.
