A Gaming Disaster

Let me just share with you my opinions and you can decide if you want to watch it or not. I'm a huge fan of gaming or sports Chinese dramas because the story follows their own set paths and not have the typical Chinese dramas cliches so I was excited about this one...... until I actually watch this one.

This drama have the potential to be a great gaming drama. The signs are all there but because the writers introduced the typical Chinese cliches in this drama, this is what ruined it for me. It's a 35 episode drama but I would say the writers wasted a good 20 to 25 episodes full of nonsense, headaches, and anger that was pointless.

A bickering ML & FL with each other in the beginning I can understand and I can understand the hardship the ML faces in the beginning, but when the writers kept repeating this pattern of ML & FL suffering for about 75% of this drama, I've had it. It resulted in skipping. Evil people in this drama whose punishment is barely anything gets me furious. Don't even get me started on the brushing off that the writers did on the sexual assault that the scumbag manager did on the FL's friend and the attempted sexual assault on the FL. I really hated how this was handled like it was nothing. Then you have a few side characters who are just the root of evil. Why do they get so much power on doing certain things even though they're not important? And all of this sudden, they get caught and last minute change because they lost everything? Yeah right. Oh and there's that stalker ex of the ML who seems okay at first but they decided to ruin her character by making her obsessive with the ML, even toward the very end which ruined the last few episodes for me. They ruined the ML's character because of this ex and I'm not happy about that. Tons of misunderstandings and an evil stepmother who's so rude but all the sudden has a change a heart immediately.

Also, I'm very disappointed that the FL's dream of being a commentator wasn't presented well in this drama. They stalled on her progression too long by making bad things happen to her due to that evil jealous co-worker. Progress was needed for her to learn and improve yes but she should've been shown commentating the esport long time ago, not just for the final showdown. Yes, she got to experience her dream but it should've been for multiple events not just the last one.

So what's good then? Well I did like the developing relationship between the leads, started as friends to eventually growing to like each other. Their friends are the goofballs. The FL's friend is the overprotective mother while the ML's friend is just silly overall. Of course, these two friends do like each other and there's another sweet couple too that I wish had more screen time. The gaming is okay but it's more of just seeing them playing on the computer than actually seeing game action scenes. The SML was my favorite. Even though he seemed like a non likable guy, he was just a fanboy of the ML throughout the series which ended up making his character pretty funny and cool. But overall, it's the bond and friendships the ML makes with others I really enjoy seeing.

So in conclusion, a potential to be a great drama but adding nonsense, headaches, and frustration ruined the quality of this gaming drama for me. Very rushed last several episodes and a lot of wasted episodes. The typical Chinese drama cliché of a problem occuring even towards the end of this drama ( I hate this!). This is probably the worst gaming drama I've seen but I stuck by it and not drop because of the lead characters and their friends.

This drama just has everything I liked. It had a beginning, a middle/climax point, and a good pace ending. Everything that was presented as a problem in this drama was answered and solved. There were no plot holes for me as everything connected to one another. Even the mini stories of the ghosts had a beginning and ending. I like this because a lot of times when dramas goes to this format, they can leave some mini stories on a cliffhanger but this drama didn't do that and I give kudos to the writers for the detailed writing and scenes. Even the last episode flowed so well that it didn't felt rushed and it was a satisfying ending.

Now there's no romance though, despite me seeing the connection and chemistry between our leads. I did wish for at least some scenes for this but at the same time I was okay with it as well because the story was the main focus for this drama.

Music wise, the osts were good but not one I would add to my playlist. I kind of wished multiple osts were played often in this drama. Instead, I think I heard more of the same song in each episode.

Overall, this drama is definitely one of my favorites for 2021 just because the plot was well written, ending was well pace and not rushed, and the scenes and visuals looked very cool. Everything was well thought out.

Let me just say, if you plan on starting this, prepare yourself, it's going to be hard to watch. Not because it's bad but because the stories being told will get you angry and break your heart. This was the hardest part for me, see the stories of the innocent lives of them being mistreated and abuse by evil people. I won't go into details on what these are. You'll just have to watch and find out yourself.

When the law fails at providing justice and safety for the victims, you as a victim just want somebody to turn to. In this case, that's the rainbow taxi, since they all have been through that feeling of not receiving that justice and how criminals goes free or get not as harsh punishment. It all seems well and all and even their actions seems reasonable. Revenge seems sweet. I mean watching this, I enjoyed seeing the revenge but it does come at cost as well. Was everything done by them was right in their eyes or did they miss some crucial pieces with their actions?

Then you have the other side, Prosecutor Ha Na, who believes in finding justice through the law. At first, she's a character who solely follows by the law and believes everything through the law. She's a hardheaded character with nothing else in mind other than solving and winning cases. For me and many others, she was a difficult character to like as she had that kind of snobbish personality for 11 episodes of this drama. However, she was the one with the most growth in my opinion once that hard wall of hers broke and she finally sees the flaw of the law, along with having consideration and feelings for others. I really enjoyed her character afterwards as she works hard to fix this broken system of a law which does involve teaming up with Do Ki and the rainbow taxi crew.

If it's one thing I wasn't too fond about this drama, it's that there are plot holes within the sub stories. Now they did a great job with concluding each sub story in the beginning but towards the halfway mark and the end, there were a lot sub stories that's just didn't have a full end conclusion as I would've liked. I say this because the clients are what makes Rainbow Taxi and the cases. Without them, you wouldn't have any of this to begin with. So that being said, I'm disappointed how this drama didn't have a full conclusion some of the clients with their sub story plot before moving on to another client or sub story.

Besides that, I still liked this drama. The buttkicking scenes from Lee Je Hoon and also his all around personality his character were my favorite. But also the realness of cases that were presented in this drama as well.
Let me just end this off with my favorite quote of this drama.
"Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good"

Funny & comedic drama but bad plot & writing

I say if you're gonna give this drama a try, just focus on the comedy and the chemistry aspect of this drama. Wen Jin Chen and Yue Yue are the ones that holds this drama for me. They're the reason I stuck by this drama despite it's poorly written plot.

The story itself is literally like the writers were throwing random ideas and putting it into scenes. Like nothing make sense. The pace of the drama didn't flow well at all as everything seemed random to me. The identity part of how Yue Yue didn't take time to look up who she was marrying, the fact that she can't see people's faces in the dark, and how she couldn't recognize the voice of Wen Jin Chen were similar. Si Ya's reasoning on running away and making Yue Yue take her spot didn't make sense. If her reasoning was the love for the older brother, Wen Liang Ye, well I didn't see it because there were no chemistry between them, despite them being the secondary couple. The older brother's attempt to steal the company from his grandfather was uncleared to me as his motives wasn't explained well in this drama.

Then you had the lame ex girlfriend who served no purpose in this drama other than to annoy us with her dialogue, along with Yue Yue's guy friend, Xiu Zhe, whose scenes are 80% of him being drunk and can't get over Si Ya. Grandpa served as the evil mother in law we typically see in Chinese dramas, who all of sudden gets redemption from all of his greedy deeds because he was close to dying. Big disappointment to see after everything he did to split up his grandsons's loves and push away his own son and the older grandson. Even the way Yue Yue and Xiao Rong became friends was random, one look at each other at the entrance of their workplace and embarrassing each other, then all of the sudden, you're close friends.

Even though Yue Yue wasn't as smart in this drama (like the first 10 episodes), at least she wasn't a pushover and there were moments where she didn't fall into the trap of, "oh the ML is cheating on me with his ex or still has feelings with his ex". I also like how Wen Jin Chen is so comedic once he fell in love with her instantly.

I enjoyed the comedic scenes and the chemistry between the leads but besides that, nothing really special about this drama that would make me say "I recommend this drama".

One of the dramas I'm adding to my all time favorites

I feel like there are only a few Chinese dramas where I know for a fact I will rewatch again and this one is one of them. The direction this drama took, for the most part, was to my liking..

First of all, some people may not like the video game scenes because it doesn't really focus on the main story. I, for one, loved the video game scenes. I love the action and of course seeing the action stunts of the ML. For the most part, the ML shine in these action scenes. The FL was just silly & hilarious in those game scenes. I mean it's through these video game scenes how our leads eventually develop feelings for each other (despite the fact the ML was already a fan of the FL). I'm kind of disappointed that there weren't more video game scenes towards the end so they would've kept this theme throughout the drama but that's just me. Some may actually be glad the game scenes are done.

Finding out that the FL is a singer in this drama instantly drew me in because I love hearing songs in a drama and I love all of the osts being played in this drama, whether it was the FL singing it as part of the drama scene or the song being played as background music to the scenes. These songs got me hooked.

Story wise, it's average. It's nothing memorable or special. Some may get frustrated on how long it takes for the leads to finally be together or how many near misses they have with each other. For me, I like the way it was handled. So many "gasps" I had only to be ended with "aw darn". The drama eases in to their relationship. The ML & FL relationship & the dorkiness of the ML's friends are what really hold this drama together for me, despite not having an actual story plot.

A few issues I (and maybe others) have with this drama:
- The love rival of the ML (Jia Yun) looks to old and it's just creepy. This guy suppose to be the love triangle who's interested in the FL and yet he looks more like he could've been her father. This was very awkward for me as I had to skip a lot of his scenes.
- Secondary characters & couple: They were just there. Sure the SFL (Shan Shan) had a life issue due to a broken heart but it wasn't enough to take interest in her character. Her character was just bland at the start and the SML (Bin Yu/Taro) well... he was just a goofball overall. I kind of wanted more interaction of them with the leads (in a good way). I will say that I did start to take interest in these characters a little more after our leads got together but that's towards the 2nd half of the drama but man is this pair a dousy.

That's all the issues I had. Overall, I enjoyed it. The chemistry between the lead characters, the multiple comedic scenes throughout this drama, the number of times the FL embarrassed herself when with the ML, the dorkiness of the ML's friends, and of course the awesome & beautiful songs this drama features. None of the typical Chinese drama cliches in this drama which is definitely a plus for me.

Light and Heart Felt Drama

This is one of the Chinese dramas where I wished I would've watched it when it was airing. I'm always hesitant on watching C-dramas when it's airing because the writers can mess up a little after the halfway point and towards the last few episodes with problems after problems and countless of misunderstandings. I'm just not fond of that. That being said this drama didn't do that at all.

It is a contract love drama but handled so differently as in no one bullies each other. If you like a smart & nerdy, but not so smart when it comes to love, male lead and a not so smart but warm hearted female lead, you'll love this drama. In fact, a lot of dramas where the ML is smart & nerdy I usually enjoy, because they are so funny when it comes to love. At first the FL falls for the ML, but once the ML finally falls for the FL, their chemistry is out of the park. You just love every scene the leads are in and their relationship goes at a good pace too. I also appreciate the multiple kiss scenes.

Misunderstandings in this drama? Yes they do occur in this drama but it's not dragged out. It's usually solved in the same episode or by the next and it's not bad at all.

The love rivals are not the secondary leads which is great. The only love rival who got a bit annoying was the female love rival, Chu Chu but trust me, I've seen worst. She didn't give me a headache like other love rivals does, especially the evil ones in a lot of C-dramas. The male love rival Meng Ran was actually okay considering he did support the leads after failing to grasp the love of the FL.

Issues I have with the drama:
- Surprisingly, our secondary couple & third couple ends up having problems towards the end of the drama, which usually happens to our main couple. This isn't as big of a deal for me because our main couple isn't affected but I can't not say it didn't bother me.
- The issue of Zhi Yi & Gu Xiao was never resolved. Honestly, they did Gu Xiao dirty. Though he was a minor character, he didn't deserve to be treated like that. He was a decent guy. Even if the writers wanted Zhi Yi to be with Lin Nuo, this misunderstanding between Zhi & Gu Xiao should've been resolved but instead writers brushed it off like nothing happen. Not cool at all.
- Not a lot of screen time and relationship development for our secondary leads. Though, I did like their scenes together, I needed more to connect with them but this drama didn't deliver on that part.

Despite all of that, I'm still gonna give it a high score, just the fact that the writers handled our main leads pretty well, no draggy misunderstandings, no evil characters, and no last minute issues for our main couple. I enjoy every episode of this drama.

What's great about this drama? The number one thing for me this drama shows is character growth. We see this in older BHN. She goes from living her whole life feeling guilty and always shameful/apologetic to a woman who has courage , determination, and one who finally forgives herself so she'll be able to love herself.

Of course, she was only able to do that with the interaction of her 17 year old self, which started as someone she didn't like seeing and was annoyed of, to eventually loving and caring for. I saw this as how older BHN struggled so much with her past self due to the accident that killed her dad, which is probably why she didn't like seeing her young self, but as time went on, she began to accept her past self and characteristics, allowing those qualities to return in her older self.

While not as strong as BHN's character growth, we do see character growth in other characters as well, including the ML.

There is romance in this drama, but because character growth is the main focus, the romance is at the minimal, meaning no lovely dovey scenes or big heartfelt confessions, or anything like that. Instead, we see a supportive male lead to the female lead. I didn't mind this at all. It was pretty sweet.

What I could've done without in this drama is the greedy old aunt. This part of the story was not needed. It ruined the light heartedness this drama had. I would like to call her the useless character as she serves no good purpose in my opinion. Without her and her scenes, we would've have a great drama but her scenes made things toxic to a certain degree.

Ending was great and happy but could've been a lot better had they shown more scenes of younger BHN's progress, of how she handles things after the passing of her dad. This would've gave me more of a satisfaction to this drama. This was the only missing piece that I felt like the writers should've gave more screen time on in the final episode.

But overall, it's a good, heartfelt, & underrated drama. Just skip the evil aunt scenes and you'll have a good time watching this.

I was hesitant to start this drama and I should've listen to my first instinct in this case. But the music and reading the story plot got me interested so I started on it only to be disappointed throughout the drama and in the end.

Like I said, the story idea was good but how it was handled, well it was a very slow start to me. It didn't get going until we finally got the lead characters to finally understand, work, and trust each other. Let's be honest, there was nobody in this drama that you could trust to the fullest. There's always some doubt. There were a lot of scenes where it was back in time or in the future. Some scenes helped with the plot while other scenes, you kind of wonder why the writer decided this put this in. For me, one of the flaws of this drama were certain episodes showed the scenes of the future or past for too long, like it took about 30 mins of an episode, slowing the plot down. Not to mention, I felt like there were too many filler episodes.

While I did like the acting, I felt like some of the characters were a waste of time. Like why were they even introduce. Why even bother making a character toxic when it wasn't necessary or giving a story about them but barely even showing them or showing their growth in the character. It's like I didn't like any characters to the fullest, even the leads.

This drama does tie up loose ends in certain aspects of how things happen but only to confuse viewers at the very end. I'm not sure if the writers want to leave the ending open for the viewers interpretation or if this is a sign for a potential another season. Either way, this ending was a miss for me. I just don't like open endings in general.

An average C-drama minus the headaches/anger you get from the evil characters

This isn't your average C-Drama. There are no evil characters (well, except there is that stalker girl for our secondary couple), no evil mother/father, no rich business guy who annoys/bothers the main girl in the first half of the drama, no long term misunderstandings, and best of all, no last minute troubles/problems for our main leads. Chinese dramas that does this gives me frustration and I usually quit on those until the last few episodes are released.

This drama didn't do that so if you're looking for something in that vicinity like me, give this drama a try. It's a light hearted drama filled with the support of team members, friends, & family (for the most part). Thought the robot competition is part of the plot, I say about 30% is actually focus on that. 70% is about the romance between the main leads and let me say, it's mostly a one-sided love until the other person gives that person a chance and recognized their feelings.

Now this does backfire a bit because without the robot competition, there are a lot of bland/boring scenes in this drama. For me, I struggle to finish it because within each episode, the ending of that episode should make you want to watch the next episode. Well, there were a couple of times this drama didn't do that, to the point I would've probably been okay not finishing it. It almost seemed like there were no more ideas and the writers decided on doing filler episodes instead up until the last episode which was the wedding.

So overall, it's the not the best I've seen in terms of C-dramas, but it's not bad either. A lot of happy and funny scenes with romance as well. Just a bit bland in some episodes from time to time.

You know, I'm not a big fan of historical theme dramas. I tend to skip them but I just happen to saw clips of this drama on instagram and what do you know, I was LOL at every clip I watched and that's how I ended up giving this drama a chance and I enjoyed it.

It's a very comedic drama. Though it has the historical theme, it doesn't follow the traditional historical aspects for the most part because of the female lead as a sassy Mr. Queen from the 21st century. It's 20 episodes so when you start watching the first several episodes, you kind of don't have a sense of direction of where the story is going. Probably because there's just so much goofiness happening. Eventually, the plot will reveal to itself and you begin to catch on where this drama is going to go. Kept it's comedy from start to finish.

Let's talk about some characters. The randomness of the Kim Hwan is so funny and yet bizarre to me. What purpose did he actually serve in this drama other than giving us good laughs? It seems like he was just put in there to make us laugh. Then you had Kim Byung In who I just can't read at all. Was he bad? I mean he acted evil but then he keeps changing his viewpoint and position. I just didn't understand his character. But at the end of the day, if I had to care about support characters, it would be Lady Choi & Hong Yeon. I just love the evolution of their friendship with Mr. Queen, from being just concern servants to ending up being great friends, relying on each other.

The downsides for me is we never really got to see the real So Yong. Mr Queen pretty much took over her life for all 19 episodes. Then So Yong shows up in the last episode. Sure we saw her backstory and pain but when that character didn't appear for the most part, you just don't have that connection with her compared to the connection we had with Mr Queen. It would've been great and funny to see Mr. Queen fighting with So Yong verbally to each other, like split personalities occurring at that moment, instead of Mr. Queen just talking to himself. And of course, our secondary and third couple progression didn't occur much as I would've liked. I mean, I only wanted more for them because there were hints shown that these 2 couples should've been together.

Overall, I actually like this historical theme drama. Probably the first historical theme drama I enjoyed and thought it was written well for the most part.

Run On or Running on to discover one's self

You "Run On". At first, it seems like it would be about the sport "running". Though running is the feature sport in this drama, that's not the main focus. I think that's where the beginning episodes either confuses viewers or doesn't grasp them enough to continue on. There's not much of a plot but instead this is more of an understanding of each main and secondary characters. I see Run On as running on from what people expects of you/wants you to be and understanding who you truly are. It takes for the main leads interactions with each other and the secondary leads interactions with each other for them to truly discover themselves. Even the support characters dealt with this familiarity of discovering their true selves which makes it great because the character connection is there for the main/secondary and the support.

If you love romance, not having second lead syndrome, love the main and secondary characters, & have a good bit of comedy then you should give this one a try. The romance is a nice steady pace and it's realistic in a way as well. The best part is no misunderstandings. Problems are always discuss quickly. Literally, each character has a different personality and I think that's what makes this drama great and different from other romance dramas. Because of this, I wanted to see all the main lead. and secondary lead characters.

OSTs are amazing and played very often. I enjoyed the placement of every osts in this drama. It matches perfectly well.

As much as a steady pace this drama showed, I still felt like the last week of airing episodes felt rushed. Too many things that were considered issues in this drama several episodes ago, were tried to be solved into the final episode. There so much content that I felt like it should've spread out to the episodes before or they could've expanded this drama to 18 or 20 episodes total. This was probably the only reason why I couldn't give it a solid 10.

But even it's not a 10 for me, it's still pretty close. Considering that I usually like watching dramas with a bit more action, this one was pretty good.

If you're thinking about starting on this drama now that it's done, let me just share with you on what I thought about it.

First of all, reading the plot summary got me real interested in the drama. I mean it involves demon hunting so if you like action, this one is for you. If you want romance, then give this one a skip. There's no romance at all. Instead, there's more of a growing family & friends relationship.

Story: It's a slow beginning but picks up pretty quickly afterwards, especially when the counter's backstories come into play. I think only two counters backstories played a main role to the plot. The other two is more for a viewer to understand how they became a counter, which is unfortunate as the spotlight for these two seemed limited. For the first half of the drama, the plot moved at a good pace, numerous demon hunting scenes which is great because this is what the drama is about, and mysteries and unanswered questions were revealed.

But after the halfway mark is where a drama either make it or break it. I say more of break it because right around ep 9 or 10, plot holes began to occur.
* What a surprised (sarcastically)............... this involves political corruption. Figures.... since everything happened because of this. This is nothing new when it comes to figuring out the villain.
* A lot of questions came to play that seemed like the writers didn't focus on, which would've made scenes more understandable. I'm not sure what happen with the writer here because I found a lot of episodes a drag or stalling after ep 8. A lot of those episodes (especially ep 10) should've been handled differently, as you really could've just skipped some episodes and you wouldn't even know you missed out on something. I knew they changed the writer at Ep 13, which at least showed plot progressing a little bit, but even then, there were too many random things thrown in and only one or two sentences (if any) to describe what happened for the final half. You could also blame the announcement of season 2 for this mess that occurred after ep 8.
* We went from the counters hunting for demonic spirits in order to protect humans to just focusing on 1 for the rest of the drama. If this 1 demonic spirit was the head leader and the other evil spirits they hunted were under him, then this would've been okay but since this wasn't the case, this seems like the writer or director lost direction in the second half, like he was the only demonic spirit left, no one else in their area was demon possessed.
* Useless spirit partners. I mean I guess they lend them their powers (and wands) but all they do is sit at the table and discuss things. They only worry about their world partner if something happens to them physically. I just didn't see an importance to them, besides getting the counters (except for So Mun) out of a coma.
* The most evilest villain in this drama never had a demonic spirit in him until the last few episodes, even though he has committed murder and has thoughts of murder. According to the spirit partner's statement, anybody who has committed murder or desire to murder attracts a demonic spirit. So why wasn't he possessed a long time ago? That doesn't make sense.

But even after all of that, I still enjoyed this drama. I love the action, the closeness of a family the counters had for each other, the dramatic scenes of the demonic spirits being cast out, and the comedy this drama showed (more in the first half of the drama, fewer in the second half). Though they may have thrown some random stuff in and missed out some important details for us viewers to understand, at least I can say that the ending is satisfying and that there's closure.

Plot is gone, drama heavily focuses on romance issues

As I mentioned in my headline, the plot is gone. It started off okay but then the writers just lost the sense of direction from what the title & plot description of drama is about. Really... I mean 90% of this drama is about the romance, the letters, the fake identity, the real identity being revealed, lover's trust, break ups, understanding one another. Literally only about 10% of the drama is what "Start Up" is actually about. People have issues about the love interests and I see that. It feels force between the leads. I don't see the connection between the ML & FL. There's a little bit more in connection with the SML but even still, not strong enough in my opinion and for a drama that heavily focuses on the romance, they failed in that department.

I feel bad for the actors and actresses because they just didn't shine in this drama. There's nothing special about their characters. The main lead characters had nothing significant about them other than a hard childhood. Their roles aren't memorable to me. I mean even the SFL was ripped off. Story was there for her but the writers didn't give her the necessary screen time for her character to evolve. It seemed like she didn't even play an importance to this drama. Even the support characters got more screen time than her. Seon Ho, on the other hand made his character shine. I notice he tends to do his 2nd lead roles really well like Strongest Deliveryman, Two Cops, making them shine. Even his lead role in Catch the Ghost; it started off pretty bland too but the writers deliver on that role and Seon Ho was able to even made that role shine.

Music wise, great music but once again, this drama fails to deliver the overall osts for this drama. Most songs were just played a few times if not once.

Definitely not a rewatch. Bad balance between romance and plot, with romance weighing a lot more than the plot. This just wasn't delivered well at all.

Let's talk about the plot. For me, I like the topic about trying to achieve one's dream but having so many hurdles in front of you that a lot of times, you just want to give up. I sensed that in the first half of this drama. I felt the hardship. Being ripped off, being seen from others as a no potential, having others stepping on you like your worthless because of your status. At the same time, we see two sides of family impact as well, barely any support and too much support to where they are controlling and you don't know how to adapt to reality. Some people may find these kind of issues in a drama boring but I liked the realness of it and I could sense it. I would've been fine with this drama had the whole drama revolved around this, focusing on the family relationship issues and the relationship hurdles when becoming a celeb now.
But here's where it went wrong. The writer lost a sense of direction in the second half of this drama. Past ep 8 is pretty much worthless to me. They added conflicts that, in my opinion, weren't needed. I think they were trying to add the reality of scandals occurring in a celebrity's life but I just didn't see a purpose for this relating to the initial plot. The annoying reporter and the stupid old manager who cheated on Hye Joon's success and growth were a real pain that ruined the 2nd half of this drama. To be honest, the last few episodes weren't handled well. The last episode may solve a few things but in honesty, a lot of episodes wasted.

Character wise, they have a few strong moments but it's really forgettable due to the overall character of the leads being pretty bland.

Music wise, this drama has some great OSTs. It's just that it wasn't played much as I would've liked to hear.

Definitely not worth a rewatch after seeing the direction the writer decided to go with this. Had the potential to be a good drama for me but failed miserably.

An interesting way to start and end the drama. We go from an innocent man being framed for a murder he didn't commit to an evil man who ended up framing that innocent man being framed himself for a murder he technically didn't commit. Karma anyone? Same with the police. Thinking they did right in the beginning but was wrong only to do wrong in the end but ended up being right because that was the only way to get the villain, play at his own game.

There are 2 sub stories in this drama but the amount of attention of these stories are pretty much ignored until the very end. In a way it bothers me because I see importance to these sub stories. These sub stories could've led to character development for some of the characters, including the 2 male leads but at the same time, you wouldn't want it to overpower the main plot of this drama. While one of the sub story does have a little connection to the main plot, the other doesn't. I rather the writers not mention this at all if there wasn't going to be much focus on these sub stories.

Romance? More like Bromance. You just see the developing bond between the 2 male leads from start to finish. They really do ended up being close as bros, not just with each other but with their whole detective crew as well. I will admit it, I am disappointed how there weren't more scenes with Ji Hyuk and Seo Kyung. They had the connection & chemistry with the little scenes of them together. I mean the writers even threw in a monkey wretch at the last episode, showing the viewers there was something there between Ji Hyuk & Seo Kyung. There scenes were cute. I'm just sad that their relationship didn't evolved as much as I would've liked to see.

Only one character that really stood out to me and that was Eun Hye. She had a good character development from start to finish. From being hopeless and depressed to having hope and living her best with dreams. Through all of her issues, she managed to overcome the hurdle she's been stuck in for so long.

To summarize: This drama focuses on 1 case so there are no other cases that play a role in the plot other than a past case being connected to this only case. While this drama seems serious, there are a few comedic moments that will give you a laugh. No big romance between the ML & FL but a big brotherhood between detectives is definitely present. Plot is easy to follow, OST music is pretty absent in this drama, & a good twist in the final episode, a lot different from your usual crime investigation dramas. I say this drama is average but good enough to watch.
