in 2017 when kamen rider build first aired, i saw eiji and thought he had the potential to be a huge it boy someday. the past year he's become such a big name i'm actually shocked i was right about him!
'There was a huge power difference in terms of age and status' ... so what are you suggesting actually? What does…
First of all, to reply to your "women are always given a pass for their bad behaviors" thing. If the roles were reversed and an older woman cheated on her husband with a younger man. I would still say the EXACT same thing about the power imbalance. We'll never know what the intentions actually are.
If they were the same age then there is no power imbalance because they're the same age, it's not really that hard to understand. Some people will take advantage of the fact that they're older, more mature etc while others won't. In Masahiro's case I doubt he had pure intentions. We'll never know in the end really.
How is Erika getting a pass for her behavior here? I genuinely think what she did was absolute garbage, she even TOLD Anne about it with no remorse, but I was trying to look at it from more than one perspective. Plus she's losing all her current acting gigs so she's getting what she deserves?
You can say that men are prone to manipulating younger women, without denying that men can be manipulated by women whether they be older or younger? I've experienced it myself. If you don't think there was a power imbalance then fine but I still stand by what I said.
Added High Society and Hapimari I have very low standards and high cringe tolerance lol so I can basically watch anything, plus I generally never finish something I dislike, but those two got my blood boiling good.

Please reread my comment. I said that she was no angel. And that she deserved what she got because she's 100% complicit in this.
He's her senior in the acting industry who is 9 years older than her, and she's still a new face, she was definitely not up and coming when the affair first happened back in 2017, there is definitely pressure there when you think about it even if he's not her boss. At the end of the day what they both did was nasty to me. I'm just saying is that he was obviously manipulative.
Also, I know people of different ages and power statuses get into relationships all the time. I even grew up in a culture where that was completely normal. But I just feel like it's different when it's a decently known actor, even if he doesn't have a powerful position in the industry (but like think about who his father in law is...) hitting on a 19 year old, it's fine if you don't think there is one, everyone might see this in a different light to be honest, but in my eyes there's definitely a power struggle there.
Compare this to some random 20 year old getting into a relationship with a random 35 year old she knows who works at the local bank?
So yeah, in the end I wasn't trying to sympathize or defend her because like I said she reaped what she sowed!! She got into an affair with a married man with kids so now she has to deal with the consequences.
What a shame I loved a lot of his work, but that's life you never know who the person behind the screen actually…
There was a line in The Confidence JP Movie that is now pure dramatic irony... It was along the lines of "Are celebrity couples really as happy as they seem?" And I believe it was his character that said the line, yikes.
