You rated it 8.5, which isn’t bad at all. You also said you followed the hype. If you start something with very…
because i cannot english today. Above average, i am sorry for the confusion.

honestly. And I think people need to understand one important thing — Pursuit of Jade is an idol drama. Comparing…
hence why i also compared it to "love like the galaxy" because it is the exact same type of Drama. Love like the Galaxy was an idol Drama, too. And as it is so highly rated on MDL (#6 of Top Shows) i compared it to these shows.
For me it was sad, that it COULD have been better than Love like the galaxy or on par with Nirvana in the fire/ Joy of life IF they wouldn't have butchered the middle and the end. Maybe i need ot check out the novel for once. The whole middle part, with all the action suggested that there was a lof of plotting and strategizing in the middle which got cut out. And that's why i said it was sad.
(and tbh i think all they had to do for that was cut 5 eps from the beginning and use it in the middle, but i get there is a huge majority that just love these homey, nice happy go lucky moments with a slow burn romance. It's just not me, hence the writers made it like this)

It's an idol drama. How can it be compared to non idol dramas like Joy of Life and Nirvana in fire? It's good…
that's actually a good explanation

I am a very nice rater. 7 means it's average, 9 it was a hit piece, 10 high quality and loved it. i seldomly rate anything below a 6 . I go by gut feeling. 8,5 for me is below average, but i thought the drama would be above a 9 or a 10)
As pursuit of Jade is currently in the MDL Top Shows #6 it's higher rated than the other mentioned C-Dramas and i compared it to that level.

I followed the hype and i am sad to say it did dissapoint. I cannot see in this Drama what so many of you see in it. It's worlds away from Joy of life and Nirvana in the fire, and i had my issues with Love like the galaxy, but at least the acted out the whole story in two seasons and didn't butcher the story. This could have been the greatest Drama ever, and maybe the novel is, but the Drama was just ... sad.

i watched this, while i traveld Japan and Korea last weak. Peak Drama for exactly this moment, even though the story has its weak points, like weird forth and back arguments, that made no sense at times.
Peak ML and FL character settings (and side characters) They carried the Drama

You have to look on the bright side: there are now 82 episodes to rewatch. That's more than before.
And another chance to read the novel. All of it.
Let's suffer together again

6 Months waiting is not so bad. You have 50 chapters in the book. If it's 6 Months, it's two chapters per week to haul you over.

I get that it's slice of life and I was liking the romance in the beginning...but I'm on episode 7 and wondering…
there is basically nothing happeneing. It's just to make you feel good, enjoy the beauty. lean back and relax. It's supposed to give you warmth and not think too much.

Title Call It Love Spoiler
Agreed. I'm also confused on his part. At first i thought, there relationship was strictly platonic and i loved…
My process of thought was pretty similiar to yours, but it was so ambivalent and confusing so i figured I might have missed something.

I also wondered, that he would worry they would face societal restrictions and Woojoo would just get hurt from it. That part "You cannot just date your stepbrother". But then I saw his parents and was like "why would you care" but then again, maybe that's exactly what he was trained to think. That there is this box in which way you have to behave. On the other hand Woohoo acts like she understands whats his problem is. That he understands that he is angry and he has a right to be. Instead of saying "it's my life, i will take care of it, it has nothing to do with you" or "Can you not be supportive of me" she just accepts his anger as if that should be the way.

Also the Mother of Yoon Joon said, that he brought Woojoo home two years ago, so she could not be counted as a date anymore. So did they date before and broke up? But that would not make sense to what Haesung said, that Woojoo did not have a relationship before.

it's just very messy. But i guess there might be still a prestory and explanation there which we might get in the next episodes. But it just makes it hard to follow along at this point.

In love and jealous and they have not made a promise. This typical kdrama plot is my guess.

Title Call It Love Spoiler
does anyone geht the relationship between Yoon Joon and Woo Joo? I cannot understand why he is so upset. Is he scared she would get hurt in the end? or is he in love and jealous and they have a promise going? Did I miss something?

I just cannot understand why he is so against Woo Joo being in love (and maybe) dating Dongjin? After all, there is no restrictive parents whatsoever. If it makes them happy let them be happy, their lifes suck enough. Especially he shoud get it, since he had to live a life by restricions. And just because he doesn't want to date (or does he???) doesn't mean he has to tell her what to do, no?

it's so confusing.

The battle in the comments is so weird.
This will not be the best drama aired this year. But it also doesn't need to. The best about this drama, is that it's so unbelievable average, It feels like you regular K-Drama from 10 years ago. Like 49 days or the Masters Sun. Before we had the big private productions and Netflix. We had the crazy Makjang parts, where everyone was overreacting. And we watched and had fun and a good time. So for it's genre it's a good average, fun drama.
Just sit down and watch the show and enjoy it. And if you do not, just watch something else.

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
This was absolutely my kind of drama. And it will forever hold a very dear place in my heart. The pictures in my head, the darkness, that villain, the OST

BUT in the end, the plotholes are overwhelming. It's been a while sind i have seen that many in a drama:
- How and why did Hwan Kwon Yeon split the souls?
- The sister of the detective???
- Did they both regain their memories in the end? Why? Or was it only him?
- If Min Sang Yeon had all the memories and was writing like a crazy person, why did she not RECORD IT ALL? Why did they never go back to check any of the left over information to figure stuff out
- Why exactly needed Ok Eul Tae to kill Min Sang Un every time she was reborn???? How did that exactly help? Why was that the last reincarnation, if he would killed her, but if she would have died normally her soul would reincarnate like the regular?
- The prophecies barely fitted? For Min Sang Un we do not know if she regained all her memories, but no one died. If ithe prophecy was meant for Dan Hwal than it did not come true
- Apparently Bulgasal don't need fucking human blood????? Like people, no consistency???

I am also pissed, that no one ever really sat down and thought about stuff. Like, why did Min Sang Un as female Bulgasal decide to protect Dan Hwal, but then go rampant and kill all his family? How exactly did Ok Eul Tal kill the Dan Hwals family, when she as a Bulgasal? Where did he live, that he could just hunt where she was, how did that work out for 400 years?

And the moral standards where also preeeeetty off and questionable. Very hard questionable. Really did not follow one like and often contradicted itself.

Tomorrow I will come up with ten more plotholes. Oh god, and the ending was lame.

But still mucho fun watching, because pictures. The pictures made everything worth it.

You're probably from the US lol
See, that's why I wondered. If the Drama people intnetionally build in such a twist. You can totally watch the drama and get the idea that beomseok might be in love with Su Ho, but because he was so much abused and hated by his father, he could not even admit it or even think about it, because he had such an inferiority complex. And then the jealousy spiked when Yeong Yi came along. And when he said to Suho that he doesn't want to be ordered around it sounded like a lame excuse so he would not have to admit that he was jealous and in love.
It's good to know though that this was not the story line of the webtoon. But i have no clue why they put that in the drama like that. Because normally you would be tempted to watch such a drama because of the "bromance" you were expecting. But this drama then put a horrible twist on it somehow.

Thank you for clariyfing, but then i wonder. Why did he not show that same inferiority complex in front of Shi Eun? I get that maybe Shi Eun might have treated him a little bit more respectful, like there was this scene where he said that it is not beom seoks fault for example. But other than that, Shi Eus was more clever, liked by others more and did not get ignored?

No, Germany. But what does my nationality have to do with it, when there are BL dramas all over the place?

Well, i expected something different, like a dumb shounen Drama. It was not that. However there is this one story part that makes very wary of the drama.

Isn't the underlying message: If you are gay you turn into a monster?
Boem Soek got jealous. He was constantly browsing Soo Ho's Insta, and he told Yoeng Yi that she was at fault, because he did not receive the same attention anymore. He did not want to be hugged by Soo Ho when he made his change, until he finally turned that jealousy into hate and anger.
Even if you make it only about "male friendship" would it not have the same message?

Who rules the world could have been that drama. The premise! In the novel was it described how they met for the first time, how the ML got to follow the FL. I think that stressed me out the most, that i never got the scene.

I sadly did not really vibe with "Love like the galaxy". I did like the second part more than the first. but i felt part 1 was way too long. And overall the actor of the ML was a huge let down to me. At some point i was screaming at the screen for the guy to please show any facial expression. I think he was way too young for the role. I really did not vibe with him at all.
