Feels like watching a live action version of Ghibli movie mixed with Ghost at School anime series

Absurd, weird, and tickling. Rather than seeing this drama as disturbing, I find it satisfying, LOL. I must also admit that it's so much better than what I expected when watching the trailer.

Maybe you find it confusing as they don't make the story line obvious, but well, I personally feel that's the only thing that it's lacking. Instead of expecting this to be like any other K-drama, I suggest you to expect it to feel like anime series or maybe some Ghibli movies. Yes, this drama wouldn't focus on the character relationship development, but the character point of view in life and their daily adventure. I finish it in 1 day because every episode feels so fun to watch.

And oh, feel so happy to finally see new quirky female lead character that I like. Me likey!

It's always fun to see someone's world turning upside down because of the encounter of a sweet yet refreshing person in their life. Just like the title: This Is Not What I Expected, that's how this story is all about for me.

The light-hearted plot, interesting characters, fun music. Everything is well-combined like a tailor-made recipe a personal chef make for you. Everything presented one by one, some of the feelings are set separated to be enjoyed alone while some feelings are remained tangled, twisted, mixed together to make some sense. Honestly, I miss this kind of innocent love story. Their interest in each other is so natural, goes with the story they experience together and something they have in common.

The beautiful color grading in everything that coming will give a different perspective of things around you. I strongly recommend this movie as a short escape from your boring routine or as a simple reminder of how things begin with you and your loved ones.

The way this drama tells a story is delightful. I want this version of all my favorite dramas!

AFTER-TASTE
Rather than just walking through the plot, the scene lets us feel the after-taste of each scene. Every time the characters finish what they do, the scene doesn’t stop there. It shows how the characters deal with the previous things that happened. Some people might say that the OSTs are sickening but that’s this movie is all about. The repetitive music and mood portray a slice of life, the sequence of events in the characters’ daily life.

SLICE OF LIFE
It’s slow-paced to the point that many people don’t notice the character development but it’s what makes this movie realistic. The main characters had been influenced and will continue to adjust her and his circumstances in making certain actions. That’s what makes them hard to change. For that same reason, I’d rather say that their attitude and behavior are understandable than acceptable. They tried their best and we can feel the struggle they’ve been through to get there.

WARM BLANKET FOR THE COLD WEATHER
It’s raw yet aesthetically-pleasing though. What’s quite unusual is first, they don’t use any Korean song for their soundtrack and second, they visualize “rainy” feeling with a warm brownish color. This is my first time watching Korean drama using such a theme and it gets me super emotional. It wakes my senses up. I feel like I can hear, smell, taste touch and of course see whatever shown throughout the drama.

WHY IS IT WORTH A TRY
In the end, I know this isn’t everyone's cup of tea and it’s worth a try. Especially when you feel like giving up on your boring routine. This drama can be relatable for you but it gives you the hope of something better coming.

UNPOPULAR OPINION OF THE FL
I've seen a lot of complaints about the FL. I personally find that her character is very realistic considering all the things she went through. Some people might think that there is no character development but it's there. It's just that her character is complex and her circumstances don't give enough room for her, so it seems like she doesn't go anywhere. No need to spoil anything to say that from the beginning I've been so proud of her. To see how she does things she does, I want to give her a comforting hug.

Kind of regret that I didn't write a review right after I finished watching this.
This movie is very beautiful. The characters are adorable and I can really feel the bond between each of them. The storyline is so natural which is quite uncommon for Japanese movie, it influences the pace as well. Every scene is presented with a cause and that's why I really enjoy watching it.

Now about the cinematography, they bring back the mood board of 2010-ish Japanese dramas & film, like Hana Kimi (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e). I really love the angle that they choose and the way they shoot everything. The music is no joke! I love all the songs they play or sing in the movie.

After all, the best thing about this movie is about friendship. If you forget why you ever become so close with your friends, you might want to watch this. You'll probably remember by watching simple reasons why the characters continually care about one another.

Unlike the boring poster, this drama is so fun to watch! It's full of surprises that's pleasant for you to see. This drama also gives you that warm feeling of the nostalgic moments in our youth days without forgetting the present.

I adore the writer so much, I can feel how the writer is committed to showing the bright side of each and every character in the drama. Therefore, you shouldn't worry about being depressed after watching the drama. This drama gives a lot of hope and strength through character development. It's healing.

The plot is clever, it doesn't tangle around the same problem for a long time and it won't confuse you because everything's explained well. It's refreshing to see all the things you worried about being solved one by one. Beautiful classic and modern music soundtrack completes the story-telling part well too.

I'm so happy that after being recommended by some friends I finally tried to watch this drama. The after taste of watching this drama is quite unique though, hahahah, because somehow I don't feel any trouble adjusting back with my own reality. It satisfied me without making me feel like I have to find another good drama because I let go of this drama with peace, It's like the after taste you got after finish eating delicious yet healthy food, you know...

One of the OST titles is Consolation. It tells a feeling of having someone we know will always be there in every difficult situation that we've been. That's pretty much what I feel throughout the drama. Not only this drama reminds me of those who console me, but those who need me the most to console them.

Sometimes, unlike what they say, people don't change. When facing the same problem over and over again, it's hard for one to deal with that issue of theirs. However, if only they have others to walk with them and hold on, they can pass through that problem safely and sound and they can continue their life. Because to move on, you need energy, you need courage, and more than a friendly attitude, you need sincere friends.

This drama gives me a big burden in the beginning. As I watched more episodes, I thought there were fewer problems. Now I know I was wrong. The problems kept on coming to the characters. They never get used to it. But they will to walk through it and move on.

This drama is very meaningful to me. Every time I cry when I watched this, I feel both bad and good feelings. The weird part is that...the gut that I had was consoling me.

-

Now go to the real review of the drama production. Gosh, so good! The cinematography fits the concept. It looks pretty yet resembling the tone of our everyday life. The OSTs are all so touching. The plot is enjoyable, although I find that the plot is not really mattered when it comes to this drama. The character itself is very charming already, you would want to watch this because of the characters. They don't fall into the mainstream stigma of each character. Instead, they bring the characters to come to life by giving them the most natural attributes I've ever seen in Korean Drama. Not to mention, the casts play these characters so well.

In conclusion, this drama taught me lots of thing and it does warm my heart.

One of the best on its kinds✨

If you like watching cartoon by Ghibli Studio, you might love this movie! You can certainly ask your little sister or brother to watch this movie with you. This movie got the same feeling with any Ghibli movie as it reminisces childhood memories in a deep and romantic look and feels. Before I write more about this movie, I'd love to recommend a similar movie with children as its characters:
Petualangan Sherina (Indonesia), Starry Starry Night (Taiwan), Bridge to Terabithia (US)
For more fantasy movie recommendation, feel free to check my drama list, called Magical, Covered With Fairy Dust

The synopsis doesn't lie, it is like what you've read but better. The plot is enjoyable, I keep on guessing what will happen next yet falling into the happening scene. The story helps you remember the secrets and beliefs you keep to yourself when you were little.

All cast worked really well. It doesn't look like acting at all. I feel empathize with all the character, moreover the main characters. They are both charming in their own way, so pure and innocent.

Beautiful movie... It gives a strong feeling and is very personal. It is presented in warm-tone color grading and slow-paced story. However, the plot is still very enjoyable. The music was just fit the story. Overall, the movie is like a realistic version of fairy-tale.

And oh, not to mention, the main characters look very charming. They also act so well.

I felt star-struck, heart-broken, and weak all because of this half an hour movie,
I sincerely feel so grateful for being able to watch this movie.

The movie is just so perfect! If it was a ride, it was certainly breathtaking.
The plot drives you mad with a well-taken picture, well-composed audio, and high-quality acting skill. You would feel the sincerity in the story. The sincerity of each character plus the mystery throughout the movie makes it somewhat enchanting. I would say that this movie is as romantic as rain but wrapped with the excitement of summer. Nostalgic mood represented in all of the aspects of the movie from the countryside setting to the music that they like and they play. Y'all better be ready for being over-emotional throughout the movie.

Now talking about music, you won't see they're faking it in the movie. Jay Chou plays the instrument very well and the song choice is remarkable. At this point, you'll wonder how can someone become so good at doing anything - yes he acts, sing, dance, play piano, compose songs, even write the move TT TT

Please do try to watch it even just for once. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

She fell in love like rain falls while the sun is shining

Don't get mistaken, the headline doesn't spoil any plot but the feeling of this series itself. Yes, it does feel like a sunshower. Yumi, just like any young adult, has her own routine. All the feelings that appear since episode 1 of this drama must feel like something strange to her routine, as so many feelings fall once at a time showering her without notice.

I myself have not read the webtoon yet but I had no problem adjusting to this new storytelling style changing real quick from real people to cartoons. Instead, I find it really entertaining. The animator and dubber had made the cell characters alive to the point that I feel like I belong with them. I must say that they give me a great sense of belonging to myself as well. It's like seeing the "whole" me loving and taking care of myself each and every day, no matter what happens to me.

What is unique from this FL is that I feel no similarity between me and Yumi, our preference for men doesn't match as well, yet she is so relatable. The cells don't just tell us what happens but show us. They even show us why and how everything happens.

Hence, I don't really recommend you to watch it with any expectation of what comes next. Instead, use this opportunity to dare yourself to get out of your comfort zone to see something new, feel something strange, and finally feel a deeper connection with yourself once again.

It's all about your junior high school or high school moment when you first feel you are bond to someone. More than just a first love, this feeling is all about having a "personal connection" and story only both of you understand.

I have to admit that the female lead character is quite annoying. She and her rebellious actions are very irresponsible. However, the story had been told beautifully that we are able to empathize with each character here.

The movie is beautiful and it has strong romanticism yet still feels really relatable. I think I'm not the only one who got drown into nostalgia even though I didn't experience exactly the same story. The music and cinematography really suit the setting. The church scene is also so strong that it touches me right in the heart. I can feel his sincerity when he wants to love God.

However, some things are not carefully made. From the years those characters born to the mobile phone they use. If it's really 16 years ago, they don't have that kind of mobile phone yet.

Search WWW is that one daydream you have while you're stuck with your daily complicated routinr. You're still sane enough to create the story neat and makes sense about the real world yet package it beautifully and seasin with the sense of utopian that you wish you have at that time.

This drama is really wonderful. If I have to sums it up to 3 statements, they would be alpha females, the internet and hopeless romantic. I know right, they are weird combination but they worked just fine. Love this! <3

My review before I completed it:
It's amazing. The story looks promising, the character is bold. You can enjoy it with aesthetic color grading and soothing music. I'd also be lying if I say I don't like the actors because I've seen them doing pretty good on their previous drama. I'm so happy that I find this drama in the middle of unsatisfaction I faced after I finished watching Chicago Typewriter.

Call me biased but I've rewatched this drama for like 5 times. The story of this drama is seriously good, the OST harmonize every scene perfectly, the art team had worked in a splendid way, and all the actors act well.

RELATIONSHIP:
If you are young and or don't have lots of actual experience in romance, then you'll like this drama. Because every little thing that matter in this drama relate to the characters' innocence. You can clearly see the character development along the way and every plot does make sense. The relationships between each character built naturally in a sweet manner. You can feel the friendship, romance, and family bond.

ART:
Talking about the art of this drama... Everything designed beautifully, A perfect fusion in Korean and modern culture in the setting, wardrobe, even the makeup. Notice the detail in every character and you will see how they present everything carefully. This certainly gives a "WOW" factor of a royal family. Not just rich, but royal. Not to mention, they spend A LOT OF MONEY on this drama, especially to make the castle setting.

It's a drama that worth watching, guys. If you haven't please give it a shot. Happy watching!

It teaches me a lot--literally

I watched this as I wait for the next episode of Summer Strike and it was the best thing that I did last week! God, this drama is so good. This slice-of-life drama doesn't only get me reflecting on my own life but also triggers my strategic thinking. The way the characters interact with one another also gave me some ideas on how to handle different people. The plot is also quite good, I didn't remember watching this quality in slice-of-life drama back in 2014. The scenes are all efficient. Everything that happens has its' meaning that we can see later on. There's no useless scene, really. I enjoy watching every moment in it.

This drama is a poem ??

If this drama is a poem, here's how I would love to write it:
The sun is about to set. You’ve been holding on for too long.
It’s the right time to end it all, you think.
You’ll be gone as soon as the sunset, you believe.
But as you close your eyes to surrender your pain and yourself to nothingness, he's there sitting next to you.
When you think you about to fall to the deep of the blue sea, he places your head to his shoulder.
That’s how you realize, the moon will keep you safe when it gets dark.
You could have some rest, forget about the world a little, but when you’re ready you could begin again.
The pain is there, but he and the night had helped you to heal, to become stronger, to walk with confidence since that encounter.

---

(Pardon my English skill, at least that's how I would describe this drama)

This drama shares the same feeling with painting or poetry. The narration doesn’t explain but visualizes the situation. It won’t be hard for you to put yourself in the main characters’ shoes because it’s all written in all the details you find in the drama: the setting, color grading, OST and even the words that have been carefully chosen for each scene.

I used to avoid melodrama. I haven't’ watched any melodrama before beside Something In The Rain and Be Melodramatic but I really love watching this one. This drama is so beautiful. Even though at some point I feel depressed, mostly it’s a beautiful thing that makes me cry throughout this drama. The main character of this drama makes me realize things I might have taken for granted and teach me how to be grateful. I feel like growing together with the female lead. That’s how strong the male lead character is. He is not that common "manly" type of man yet he makes you feel like being cheered up and protected. Overall, the mood of this drama is that time between sunset and sunrise spent with a hot cup of tea. I would love to rewatch again.

I know this review is so subjective. I’m just trying to be honest with my feeling because this drama feels so personal to me. You should definitely give it a shot, especially when you feel tired and discouraged.
