It is summer 10 years ago. Kaoru transfers to a new school and has a fateful encounter with the school's terrifying bad-boy Sentaro. They bond over jazz and Kaoru finds that he's oddly drawn to the rough-mannered Sentaro. After jamming on the piano and drums and spending time with Sentaro's childhood friend Ritsuko, Kaoru falls for Ritsuko but finds out she likes Sentaro.

A beautiful story of friendship mixed with jazz music made me cry to bits. This is one of my favorite things. The sweetness of friendship, especially the bromance is mixed perfectly. The sound of the drums and piano engraved in my mind up until now.

The cinematography is tranquil and the beauty of the sound of jazz is so intriguing. Casts are really amazing. I felt like one of the characters in the movie as I watched this. I really liked Taishi Nakagawa's acting here. It was outstanding.

Please do watch this! It's really worth the time.

The film is sweet and at the same time long, who likes the musical style jazz is a full plate, filtered through the intensity of adolescents struggling to find their place in the world. It's a pity that this single movie tries to tie it all together in a single exit, since there are so many parallel threads that remain. The tide of manga adaptations will never stop, providing fertile ground for the prolific Japanese film industry. KIDS ON THE SLOPE is a solid and catchy version of some award winning material that still means a lot to a lot of fans.
