This is pretty solid in terms of plot and acting, and it gets an 8.2 while another that is quite meh plot-wise got a much higher rating? Cos no romance and kisses?

This is such a great show. Haven't felt so moved by a show for a long while. And bless the writers for writing the script based on a true story. The rating at MDL is not reflective of the quality of the show.

Based on the preview, looks like Mayor Lin is a bit of a snake. I've always thought he was a bit questionable.

There was no confirmation of what happened to Dou Jie right? All we heard was a gunshot.

I don't think we need to worry that much. He's getting a lot of recognition and good roles. Sometimes it may not be the wisest to be on the top. Unless you have very strong backing, you never know if someone will want to sabotage you. The industry is not only cutthroat. It is also dark and corrupted to a large extent.

As a fan, I love more that he's putting passion in his work and there is no controversy surrounding him. I wish him success and well-being all round. If his dramas and movies can hit big time, that's awesome. If they don't, there's no loss for us too. The dramas he acted in that I personally love were not big time hits but it doesn't diminish my view of him. I just love to watch him in his craft.

Modernization is such a 2-edged sword. On one hand, it fuels greed to the extreme. But if not for modernization, the Tibetan women would have to live with their infections thinking it's just their lot in life. Thank God for doctors and their commitment to help the women. And the Tibetans are very simple people. I was in their country years ago and you know how the locals of most countries sometimes have double standards with tourists. The Tibetans didn't behave like that. They sold stuff to me at the same price they sold to their locals. No markups.

This show is so good. I came to watch cos of Yangzi and was surprised to find Hu Ge in it. Wow...so enthralled by the storyline and setting. And they all look their part. Brings back a lot of memories of Tibet.

Not a fan of Gu Man. I know all dramas are fictional but this one feels overly scripted, polished, and unreal. The delivery of some lines by ML feels particularly scripted. I find myself asking, do real people talk like that?

I suspect she's the young concubine based on the actual story. Otherwise, can't see another significant character.

Did you watch Dangerous Liaisons or The Scandal movie? Based on the story, all 3 should have more or less equal screen time but I think Lady Cho might have more.

Same. She's beautiful but looks more contemporary.

What were the reactions? I did find Nana's face too modern for sageuk.

Just completed watching and I really don't get the bad rating. This isn't that bad. I actually enjoyed watching it. I bet rating would have been better if there were more kissing scenes going by the average MDL standards.

I've watched up to ep 20. I thought it would be bad, but so far, it's watchable. I hope the next half won't disappoint. But just can't get enough of HMH's face. The styling here makes him look extra handsome really.

Watched this only cos of HMH. Didn't understand the raves so my expectations were not sky high even while watching it. So I also don't understand the disappointment now that it's completed. To me, this drama isn't that great, but it ain't that bad either.

I didn't find it that bad. It speaks of how the older generation works and thinks. Seems pretty logical to me.

They're different. Mobius is sci-fic, very thrilling and suspenseful, and pace is very fast. This one is slow, less thrilling but is very intriguing. The story is also more emotional. I love the cast and I'm watching for Zhang Ruo Run. He is an amazing actor.
