Jo Jung Seok mentions that the last scene will be memorable & looks forward to it. He said he remembers the 'bitter cold & scary wind'. It's also his favorite scene.
I wonder if the last scene is shot in the snow? I don't remember the last time an ending scene for a drama was in the snow. Sounds interesting!!
- Ep 8 (this one was emphasize twice!) - rain scene (shown in the trailer?) - Queen Dowager & Lee in scene towards the end - Lee In & Mong Woo moments - Lee In & Uncle scenes mid-towards the end
Jo Jung Seok says that the love story between Lee In/HeeSoo was hard to interpret in acting form because it isn’t a ‘love you with all my heart’ kind of way but a love of suspicion & hate lol.
The people in the comment section hating on the ML and saying he is a villain not a hero just make me laughing…
I would be suprised if they actually ended up together lol. Personally, I think it will end on a good-bittersweet note. Maybe like Six Flying Dragons. The FL was a commoner & did not end up with the ML who ascended to the throne at the end (even though they have a deep profound relationship). I’m going to enjoy all of Lee In/Mong Woo moments! But plot wise overall, I don't see how they will end up together? The Queen Dowager would never allow him to marry someone like HeeSoo (since he already has a wife). I don't think HeeSoo is someone who would want to be a King's concubine either.
The only way I could ever see them ending up together if it’s years later when Prince Royal ascends to throne when he is of age, hence Lee In gives up his title? But is that even possible 🤔
I have loved this drama so far BUT I have a hard-time believing in the new mad king persona.Although its completely…
His happy-easy going persona when he is with Mong Woo may seem like a big contrast but Lee In has always been a repressed, emotional, conflicted person with intense feelings. Remember the poem he recited to the giseang. He even told his uncle that he would slice his head off for trying to commit treason against his brother.
He has to prove to the royal court that he is a better fit for King (not meek or weak) hence asserting his swift prowess. Killing Jong Bae (since some in the court didn't like him lol) & sending people away as punishment (forfeits his friendship with Mong Woo to 3yrs of labor & late kings wife sent to the temple) was the only way to ascend.

It is a romance. I know that they’ll end up falling in love with each other (because they already liked eachother 3 yrs ago). I want to see them sword fight because that would be fun to watch.
Is there any significance in the 3 year time gap? I saw mentions of how it might have been deliberate that Lee…
Yes that’s what I thought too. He must’ve been curious about Mong Woo’s whereabout thinking whether he was alive or not. Maybe someone reported to him that Mong Woo never made it to the labor camps? 3 yrs later, the sentence would have been finished.
I think this week ep will show what happened between those 3 years. We’ll see HeeSoo training as Mong Woo with Master Chu. I think it will also show Lee In getting married.
Woah! Imagine if Mong Woo turns out to be someone who’s so cunning that ‘he’ gives Lee In a run for his…
Lee In was looking for an instructor so I’m assuming Mong Woo got the part. But yeah curious to see how her revenge plays out. Emotional manipulation maybe lol. I want to see Mong Woo fight Lee In with a sword atleast once. That would be fun lol.

I don’t know what’s going to happen, it seems like they’ll most likely end up working together? Mong Woo becomes his assistant of some sort. So I’m curious about the revenge aspect of the story.
In a tvn promo video, SSK says that she spent most of her time as Mong Woo in the drama. I think this drama will take a Painter Of the Wind route where the FL will be a man majority of the time. Honestly this is more befitting to the story because if she dressed as a woman, she’ll be relegated to a lowly court maid or get punished severely. It makes more sense to the plot since Mong Woo will be able to engage in palace politics inside & out alongside Lee In. In the end, HeeSoo gets her father back & she can live a free life away from the palace. Lee In will probably continue his duty as the King.
I read a tweet that SSK also liked Lee In/Mong Woo chemistry more! I’m excited to see how their relationship unfold.
Where is the concubine named? Court Lady is named as court lady only based on the chart above....
Yes! Thats what I’d mentioned earlier in the comments. It makes sense for her to enter the court as a man, not a woman. Plus some in the royal court already know her as a man lol. Also since woman aren’t allowed to play baduk in public spaces.

Thank you for this info. Very good read & helpful. I’m curious about the tassels too.
Thats terrible 😢 being a woman those times was brutal! I can see why HeeSoo decides to go in as Mong Woo. I’m a bit anxious what will happen once he figures she’s a woman 🫠
