They really used to make good long historical kdramas, we get to feel connected and invested with the characters, I esp love the ones with fl focus like Empress Ki. It's a shame these kinda kdramas went out of fashion.

Rewatched this and it's just as good as I remember except the characters' deaths 💔 but I'm glad at least they didn't kill off Empress Ki

for me as long as the characters are written well and intriguing, it doesn't matter because I prefer when the story/endgame is unpredictable.

tho recently I'd agree they're not as interesting as they used to be, maybe bcz episodes are becoming shorter they are getting less screen time?

I'm confused with your reply.. out of nowhere mentioning the 2nd ml lolbut to reply to you, I think this 2ml isn't the sweet type, yes he likes the fl but he seems a bit of an antagonist. I don't like when the 2nd ml is way better for the fl or she has more chemistry with him than ml but here it's no problem the ml so far is way better imo

ep 3 1st half was really boring but glad they made up for it in the 2nd half

Ratings and enjoying a drama are entirely subjective. Just because other people don't like the same thing as you, it doesn't mean they are nitpicking or looking for things to hate.

it's a decent movie but unnecessarily long

I loved Saiunkoku Monogatari!!
I can't believe it got a live action after so many years and a cdrama is so fitting!

but it gets to a point even with good acting
for me the backstory is very boring and the antagonists lack spice not even salt & pepper

I still believe this would've been way better as a lighthearted comedy, it would've highlighted the main couple's dynamic esp fl, her flatmates and colleagues which have been totally ignored

My Boss My Hero an absolute jdrama gem of that era
it's mainly a comedy and friendship story

recently rewatched this bcz it's on Netflix
teared up for finally watching it HQ
we have it so good these days

so I finished ep 9 and honestly I'm not feeling this drama like the beginning
or is it the usual kdrama midway eps slump and it gets better?

it was a good show but nothing groundbreaking
I'll miss watching it every week

I find the backstory lacking and boring esp the villain's part
I would've preferred this as a chill drama focusing on Shin Seo Ri's daily life

yea I was quite disappointed with how her character turned out,
I was hoping she'd be the fl's ally, but if it turns out she's the dog reincarnation, it makes since she doesn't like shin seo ri bcz in the past she shooed her away throwing rocks at her even tho it was to save her. Also in the latest ep shin seo ri mentioned it twice that she behaves like a dog

I rather not find out
refined sugar is added in almost, if not all, of our shelf food
so adding on top of that is a bit for me...

so far, adding sugar seems to be the secret magic in this drama lol
