This means that Xiao Zhan will say goodbye to the so-called idol drama. He won't be doing xianxia, any bizarre…
I'm Polish too, and I wouldn't call this title a national treasure. It's just a book, you know :)

What does "mainstream project" even mean in that context?
I had that a year ago, he, he, he :) I was sad because his new dramas don't interest me and I really like his acting. I had a dilemma: watch something I don't like for him, or just let it go? But you know what, Xiao Zhan doesn't just sit in one genre, he tries different things. Even if a title is not to your taste, chances are that the next production will be for you. Me, I'm waiting for the new film in the Condor Heroes series, which is 100% my style :)

I understand you perfectly.
The problem is that although there are excellent fantasy books, intelligent, well-written, interesting, filmmakers do not want to make good adaptations. The best example is Netflix's The Witcher. Henry Cavill, a Hollywood superstar left because he couldn't stand the embarrassment of the series. Xiao Zhan wants to avoid something like this. A good example of a good mainstream historical drama would be Nirvana on Fire and The Rise of Phoenixes. A lot of wuxia productions fall under the mainstream. Good police dramas, morality dramas, legal dramas. There is a chance that not everything will be boring :)

Yes.

This is not about the amount of money spent on production. TLP has a very simple plot and design filled with fantasy elements. Personally, I like fantasy, but this genre is widely disregarded (although it has plenty of fans around the world). You see, TLP is not intellectually demanding, it doesn't ask any important questions, it doesn't show serious social problems. Yes, viewers may see some wisdom in the story, but this title serves almost exclusively to please fans of the actor and the genre and to spend money on it. Marvels, Star wars is exactly the same thing. You're supposed to watch, have fun and not think too much. But Lord of the Rings is already borderline because it has become a classic. The Condor Heroes, for example, started out as a niche, entertainment work, but over the years it became important not just to a small group of readers, but to the whole nation, so it went mainstream. So maybe it's better to say that mainstream is something that appeals to most adults regardless of their interests and TLP-type dramas target a specific group, so they can be as generic as they want.

Only you see, sometimes the mainstream turns out to be so badly done that it is relegated to some niche, and sometimes something niche unexpectedly enters the mainstream. The boundaries are not carved in stone,

Douluo Dalu is an idol drama that almost went mainstream, but didn't enter it. Ace Troops was supposed to be mainstream, but they messed up the plot played by Johnny Huang because they made it a cheap idol drama.

So mainstream appeals to ludis with different tastes and idol drama targets a specific group.

I did not use the word "cheap" to offend anyone. If anyone felt offended, I apologize. It is used when creators use established tropes, make generic stories without much commitment to novelty. "Cheap" because the creators of such a drama do not cost too much effort. They don't need to invest effort and thought, because the fans will be delighted anyway. And that's why such a production doesn't appeal to the majority of the public, so it doesn't become mainstream.

What does "mainstream project" even mean in that context?
A serious drama with serious issues, no fantasy elements, realism alone, contemporary or historical. A good example is WDB.

I saw melon account saying he will only be taking mainstream projects from now on. Does this mean he won’t be…
This means that Xiao Zhan will say goodbye to the so-called idol drama. He won't be doing xianxia, any bizarre isekai-style fantasy, silly romantic comedies. His dramas will be more serious, talking about something. WDB was in that genre. He can do historical dramas, but they won't be fantasy dramas about fairies, but, for example, depicting the life of some ruler or telling about important events. No more cheap entertainment where the viewer doesn't have to think, just delight in flying fairies. This is precisely how the melon should be understood.

im a bit confused as to why basically the whole cast has changed
Due to changes in the popularity of actors. FBS has always been an idol drama. The whole ML team was a popular band in those years, which attracted viewers. The band has been out of business since 2018, so who will come to watch these people? Wu Lei has not been interested in this project for years. So why try to attract the rest of the cast if at least half are being changed anyway?
And contrary to what some people think, in China this drama was not that beloved at all. To this day I remember a comment that even if all of XNine had starred in this drama it still wouldn't have saved its popularity.

Not removed that's mean its fine xiao zhan lead the drama yup
Not at all.
Information on MDL is uploaded by ordinary users based on rumors on various sites. Several Chinese sites similar to MDL have this information, but there are often a lot of rumors there. Some time ago I cared that the information next to the actor's name is true and confirmed, but it's a battle with windmills, because there will always be people who think that if something is on e.g. doin or baidu, it's true. So I stopped fighting windmills. Others either don't care anymore either, or can't change this information, or don't know that they can. So all in all, it's still a rumor, it's just not worth fighting for the truth on such a trivial matter. Don't promise yourself too much from this drama.
You can be sure only when the official information appears not on MDL but on the XZ Studio's Weibo page, and there it is not.

Hey, XZ fans, count me in as another fan of him, along with RM. TLP is the only one drama of him that I finished…
Nothing is wrong with you. Personally, I don't like The Untamed and I don't understand how people can say it's the best drama when the styrofoam cave threatens to collapse under Xiao Zhan's touch, the CGI are a little nightmare, the acting in general is weak and the plot is childish. But I watched the drama more than 10 times because I was mesmerized by XZ's acting.
The main character of The Untamed goes through three main phases in which his behavior and approach to life is completely different. Xiao Zhan brilliantly plays each of these phases and the differences between them. I personally find the teenage protagonist annoying and these are unfortunately the first episodes. If it wasn't for the fact that XZ delighted me in the first scene, I wouldn't have watched this drama.
So if you want to watch and you don't really like it, approach this drama with a detached, relaxed attitude and focus on, say.... the fact that the costumes are pretty :) Or, since you liked XZ, just enjoy him on screen. The rest will come, or not. After all, not everyone has to like the same thing :)

I approached this drama like a hedgehog. Seriously an inverted harem, and three guys and one woman I consider something like that, is not my fable. I watched two episodes and.... generally boring. Maybe they have an idea, maybe it's something new in China, but I've grown up on fantasy and - well, it's a simple fairy tale for kids. But I'm not throwing it yet, because visually, although again there's nothing new and interesting here, it's possible to look at it. I'm also moderately interested in what the story will be. Moderately, I emphasize. However, I have to give big kudos to the little actors from episode one, because I cried along with them. The little girl is a beauty and a talent. I hope China doesn't waste her because she promises to be excellent. The boy, too. Honestly the kids so far have been acting better than the adults.

what is this contract of intent?? what does it mean.
That is, the team contacted the actor and, after preliminary talks, the actor showed interest in the project. The parties talk further, adjust the cast and crew, send a more detailed script. The actor tentatively reserves the expected time to create the drama. But it can happen that during this period the actor or crew change their minds, or the shooting date is postponed and the actor has to be on another set during this time, or whatever, and eventually the normal contract for participation in the drama is not signed.

I emphasize that these are just rumors. I've been in C-ent too long to get excited about something someone made up and posted on Weibo.

Because a certain group of idiots can't stand it and posts whatever rumors they find. Another group of idiots…
Yes, it looks interesting, but it appears that the fans of this book have already become a festering mob. Does anyone need a new wave of hatred?

Anyway, you asked if this was confirmed information, not if the role might appeal to XZ. What he may or may not like is just our guess, but the fact that his participation in this drama is not confirmed is a fact.

On Legend of Zang Hai Jul 27, 2023
I was not going to comment, but what the heck, they can assign titles to actors that come to mind, I can express an opinion on it. Are you offended by my comment? It offends me that some people consider as evidence something that is not evidence. Maybe my Chinese isn't the best, but I haven't seen Xiao Zhan's name mentioned anywhere in any official place next to this drama. The poster shows a young, handsome man, but it's not Xiao Zhan, it's some kind of drawing. Yes, the drama is in plans to be made. Rumor has it that XZ signed a contract of intent, but even if he did, it doesn't mean he will star there. Currently, Weibo is rumbling that XZ will not star in the drama.
If you're a new fan it's good for you to know that you shouldn't trust the information posted on MDL, because it changes faster than some people change their underwear :(

And in case it was still unclear to anyone - actor Xiao Zhan's participation in this project as of July 27, 2023 is purely a rumor.

rumored or confirmed? why is xz listed here if not confirmed
Because a certain group of idiots can't stand it and posts whatever rumors they find. Another group of idiots does hopeless verification based on a third group of idiots. I don't know, maybe they want to score points for themselves by moderating the site or maybe they get excited by the hype.

Yes, I've heard rumors, yes, they sound plausible and the chance that XZ will play this role is high in my opinion, but they are just rumors. It's just that MDL has always been the home of rumors and unverified information. Get used to it or suffer.

PS Personally, I am against the idea of adding commercials to an actor's account. It's no art project, no mini-essay, it's a damn commercial. But that's just my opinion.

First you need to make a page for this title on MDL. When adding the cast, put XZ's name and you're done.
Unfortunately, I don't remember how to make such a page. However, you must have the data of this movie, first of all the official title.
Top menu, 'explore' -> tv shows -> add new title.

If the film's page already exists, you can also go to the actor's page, select "edit this page" then "cast", add the title, "confirm" and wait for confirmation from the moderator.

Important note: the rules on MDL are constantly changing, editors are also different, it is always good to include an external link from, for example, a Chinese douban site.

If I may, I will tell you a story. Maybe you will believe it is true, maybe not. In 2019, after a very long and…
Nice to see you too :)
Long-term relationships are not for me, so I am no longer a fan and not even an enthusiast, but respect and affection for the talent and for the person remained. Like to a good old friend with whom the roads have parted, but thanks to mutual friends I still know all the gossip from his life :)

Title One and Only
also the premise of the film is that protagonist is a newbie in the crew/street dance scene and is understudy…
Thank you for instructing me on how to watch and evaluate movies and trailers. You see, until now I thought that a trailer is something to encourage someone to watch a production, not to cause us to ignore it and waste two hours of film and perhaps some money just because someone made an "effort" Everyone makes an effort to some degree and it's the trailers that help us judge whether their efforts suit our tastes. When it comes to my money and my time it's up to me to decide whether I want to devote it to a title or not, not to be lectured to by anonymous people on the Internet. I have already wasted enough minutes on this film. Thank you for this conversation.

Title One and Only

What I saw was the final competition or show. You see, I know that an actor doesn't have to be able to do everything in dance (although he is considered a professional dancer). I don't care how hard the actor tries, just what the end result is. If I can clearly see in the end result that the actor has been replaced by a professional dancer who is awesome, then something is grating on me. I have the same in the fight scenes. If the actor is skilled enough to pretend to fight and the editing is done in such a way that it's hard to distinguish where the actor is and where the professional is, I'm satisfied, but if you can clearly see the difference between the two, it just looks awful. Fans have a different tolerance for certain things than passersby. I called the director cheap because he couldn't direct or edit the scene well. I don't care about the ideology or fan service behind it, I care about the effect on screen and this one was deeply disappointing. It couldn't be simpler. Either you hire an actor who can do difficult choreography, or you change the choreography to one where the actor can handle it, or you do the editing so that it doesn't hit the viewer that these are two completely different people at clearly different skill levels.
