I apologize for being misinformed! I only meant to sympathize with those impacted. I’m not sure of the correct words or titles since I’m not in the know about these things. I just see a lot of people are upset about misrepresentation and I would hate to cause further upset by not acknowledging it.

this show makes me so happy with the little puppy-like scenes from ML. Seriously he is developing into a way better man than what they led you to believe in the beginning. His ability to grow and adapt and learn even after making mistakes is SO refreshing. it makes me so disappointed that they would disrespect their own potential by being so disrespectful to the Arab culture. That’s really just disheartening because the love story they are showing us is all about having respect for others. And I hate that I love it so much despite such a major flaw. I can’t even recommend it to others now despite how lovely the leads are together. They could have done it so much better so easily and still they did this.. not cool.

like I said, I have no hard feelings about FL because she was the victim. if FL abused ML the way he abused her, I wouldn’t feel any sympathy for ML trying her sister first lol. I’d prefer they stick to each others siblings than be together themselves. ML sucks.

I found it weird too but that’s like the beginning of their new relationship phase so it isn’t a spoiler in terms of the whole series. Personally I appreciated it because when their time to be apart came, I wasn’t holding onto hope that they’d stay together since it already told us they’d be apart for a few years. it made it easier on the heart (tho I still cried!)

You reached it! I’d say if you don’t appreciate their way of flirting now, I’d drop it if I were you. ML teases FL throughout and is a bit chilly, even if it does get more sweet, that’s the foundation of their relationship (ML treats her obviously different from the other people, but his emotions are in his eyes not normally his words). Like tiny gaslighting except the FL seems to be into it lmao.

I still disagree about FL.

Just binged this and I’m obsessed. Definitely big Forever Love vibes but with more angst, drama, and toxicity (which I loved so that’s not a bad thing imo). really lovely main couple. My heart is still feeling all that yearning and angst. way too cute.

How the writers were able to create one of the more healthier couples in c-drama world with one of the characters hecking bent on killing the other, I’ll never know. But it works. And it’s wonderful to watch all the progressions between them and eventual respect. Even during the misunderstandings there’s a connectedness and softness between them that makes it enjoyable to watch rather than ‘pull your hair out’ frustrating.

This was a really great drama. Did some of the plot (especially the plots revolving around the supporting cast) feel like it fell flat after expecting something big? Sure. But the romance and chemistry completely more than makes up for it.

I wanna start by saying I’m not familiar with Arab culture, but I’m very sorry to hear that it’s being so misrepresented. If you’re going to represent a culture, do your research.

This doesn’t excuse the above but OH MY THAT KISS. Idk this show always leaves me with a sore face due to smiling so much. that was the CUTEST MOST ATTRACTIVE THING “do I have your permission” I DIED. YESs that is how you do consent. I love it! And seeing ML grow as a character and become more respectful and understanding towards FL was just the best thing ever. Man, I love this show. idc how silly and cliche and pointless it kind of is, I’m enjoying every second of the leads together. Throw them in a room together and make them fall in love with all that fancy over-the-top camera work and I’d watch the crap out of it. They are just beautiful humans and the writers know how to work with it.

You are basing grooming on the law, not on the impacts it has. you can be groomed even if you aren’t a minor. Grooming is not always illegal, but it does influence people and condition them. hence why, yes, if your adult siblings are teaching your younger neighbours and then becoming their lover later on when they become adults after many years, it is absolutely grooming. To say it’s not is overlooking everything that grooming means.

if you didn’t want to talk about the OG story, you shouldn’t have replied. Since the beginning, I have been talking about the story in terms of why the drama feels weird to me compared to the OG story. She isn’t 17 in the story, she is 13. And they didn’t change her maturity even though she is supposed to be 17. It feels like she’s emotionally stunted and it makes it weirder that he’s poking fun at her in flirty manners. in the OG story, they barely talk while she’s in high school and she’s way more mature. It isn’t until she’s 19 that they actually see each other a lot more.

I get that you want to defend the drama, but grooming is still grooming. Grooming isn’t always intentional. we often hear about the cases where it is intentional, but those aren’t all the cases out there. You are ignoring the entire definition of what grooming is and how it impacts the victim if you think it’s only about intention. learning from adults is obviously not the issue, the issue is when said adult becomes a lover after they’ve taught you. Even in this drama, the young girl is learning from him (an adult) throughout their time together. Even in the manga it’s acknowledged how it isn’t right for him to see her that way, but it’s a fictional love story so obviously he goes for it anyways.

If applied to real life, today ML would be labelled a creep. It might not be illegal, but it’s still grooming and morally messed up to date a kid who you met as an adult after watching them grow up.

psychological conditioning is just prolonged exposure. That’s why people get grossed out when they find out people who are in relationships that have a significant age gap are discovered to have met when the younger partner was a young teen when they first met their future partner who was already in their 20s or older. Even with no intentions, when a young person grows up around someone who is an adult already, they are going to look at them like a role model and be easily influenced by them. Which is what we can see in this story, where he keeps correcting her behaviour and she listens and is essentially shaped by his guidance and her want to impress or please him. When that person becomes a lover, it becomes a form of grooming even if there wasn’t any intention while doing it.

accidental grooming is when you grow up being taught by your future older partner. It just means there was no intention behind it, but it’s still not a good thing—psychological conditioning and all that fun stuff lol. And she’s 13 when they first meet in the manga, I just double checked. It time skips to her being in high school and chasing after him when she hears he has a gf. But all the scenes before occurred when she was in middle school and he was in 2nd year uni.

but my issue is with the immaturity in the series. Even though they jumped up her age, her maturity is the exact same as the scenes in the manga (her being 13 in the manga), and everyone in the series is also treating her the same way. it’s just not realistic.

I’ve only seen a few episodes, so maybe this only lasts a hot minute in the series buuuut

so in the manga, the girl is only 12 or 13 when she’s shown to be 17 in the series. Really glad they pushed the age up faster, but it feels so disjointed from reality when you watch a supposed 17 year old acting like how the 13 year old did in the manga (and the ML treating her the same way too). I just wish they could have changed the maturity levels too. Now instead of a 13 year old crushing on a guy who sees her as a little sister (and good ol’ accidental grooming 🤢), you have a dude (who is still too old for her) who should understand that poking fun at a 12/13 year old in that manner is completely different to ‘poking fun’ at a 17 year old whom you barely know (it’s just straight up flirting at that point). and an emotionally stunted 17 year old at that who is clearly crushing on you lol!

anyways, my favourite parts in the manga were the siblings relationship when she was younger, and the candy exchange always stole my heart. it’s what kept me reading despite worrying about the outcome of what would happen between the main two. (It was fine btw, they did a lot of time skips in the manga after the initial scenes).

true, but also this was a brother who didn’t grow up with her and no one really knew much about him. I mean, 20 years is A LOT of time to become someone completely different from when you were a kid. Trusting him when the FL is asleep when she is already so vulnerable, would be a bit unwise imo.

But in a normal scenario, people who feel uncomfortable about their kids being affectionate towards one another because they aren’t the same gender, are probably the issue. Innocence is ruined by those people and they themselves are more likely to create the scenario that they are fearing by making such things a big deal, and making the kids feel like it’s bound to happen if they are affectionate towards one another. Which gives me the major ick lol

I also want to add that I felt way more empathy for the ML’s best friend than I did for him when he was stabbed LOL! I really didn’t care if he died, I was just so concerned for the bestie who had to live with such horrible guilt. I REALLY thought he would be killed off, so him stabbing the ML instead was such a relief lmao.

Admittedly, this was a very enjoyable drama to watch. Weird at times, but very adorable. The only thing is, now that I’m finished it, im left with so many questions about what I just watched that I feel like it’s overshadowing the joy I felt watching it. This is confusing for me. But the logic to so much of that gambling storyline just doesn’t add up or is missing in explanations, conclusions, and context. So yeah, it was REALLY cute and such a lovely love story, but even at the end I felt like the audience was kicked out of the main characters’ lives—like we were no longer allowed in on their thoughts or feelings. maybe it’s just me, but I started by rating it a 8.5 but i keep getting more upset thinking about all those things left as a mystery. I think the best I can give to it now, is 7.5.

that being said, I don’t regret watching it and the love story alone was a really beautiful one. Just maybe forget about caring for the rest of the storyline lol
