You do have a point. A lot of people talking shit about seem like expected a mind blowing never seen action drama…
and that to me is a very reasonable critique lmao! Like not everyone is going to enjoy its speed and thatâs absolutely valid. But to act surprised when a romcom has cliches going on đ itâs like⊠what exactly were you expecting?
Honestly, i had just watched a heavy show before and the speed and lightness of it was the perfect contrast, so maybe itâs just the timing that I started watching it that made it more enjoyable experience for me :)
lol.. you know at one point in time, all popular dramas in Thailand were about FL getting rpd.. now if we were…
I wasnât trying to start an argument, I just thought your comment lacked context. You talked about luck, so I brought up demand. But of course there are many factors that can make businesses go down certain paths. Such as selling ideologies, or catering to the most powerful demographic (which is what you see with the poplar misogynistic things you mentioned).
The point is that there is a reason other than luck that romcoms are so popular. You and others might not enjoy those common tropes, but they are cliches for a reason. just like how McDonaldâs is poplar due to it being on a global scale and being available to everyone thanks to itâs prices. Quality doesnât always matter when there is a demand for it. Romcom dramas donât always have to have the best quality, it sometimes just has to have those special things that people have been shown to enjoy (the demand = supply thing). You can argue how you and others donât like it until youâre blue in the face, but itâs popular for a reason.
lol.. you know at one point in time, all popular dramas in Thailand were about FL getting rpd.. now if we were…
So if you put that logic onto cliche kdramas, it means cliche probably resonates with the majority. Thereâs probably some nostalgia at play which can be very dopamine giving lol which makes the majority of people demand it. Thus, entertainment businesses listen and now we have this and countless other romcoms like it which are very popular. Lots of people might complain, but considering how often cliche romcoms like this get aired, clearly the demand for them is still solidly there. Because at the end of the day, itâs all about making money and/or selling ideologies⊠and luck has very little to do with what is in demand and will receive the most capital or be viewed the most.
lol.. you know at one point in time, all popular dramas in Thailand were about FL getting rpd.. now if we were…
Psychologically, youâre missing key things. itâs not usually luck or fortune if there are popular tropes. Things trend because they resonate with the majority (think demand = supply, which entertainment businesses very much cater to). Itâs not because people necessarily like it, it just means people connected with those storyline (which is obviously sad if itâs the r*pe situation that they connected to). Also another psychological reason, fear and excitement is very easy to confuse for one another. So if r*pe scares someone bad enough (could be due to personal experience or just because itâs scary to you), to cope with that fear your brain can turn it to excitement⊠which is why you have a lot of fetishes that are taboo, r*pe being one of the popular ones. Thus, shows that depict it can make people interested or even give them a dopamine rush even if they would never want something like that to happen in real life.
TLDR: businesses cater to the demand, not usually just luck.
Whenever a drama is airing, commenters always go to a weird morally high ground. itâs like because itâs airing it HAS to be amazing and completely original, or itâs a total let down. So if you read these comments, prepare to see a lot of people complaining about every romcom trope in said airing drama that has ever been done before. If you donât like your typical romcom tropes, then this probably wonât be the drama for you, but that just means you arenât the audience itâs catering to⊠so letâs not pretend itâs horrible because it uses tropes you personally donât like.
At the end of the day, most romcom kdramas have a similar vibe to them. If you want to watch something completely different and original, donât go with romcom lol just what Iâve found. Imo, this is a very cute and straightforward drama so far. if it was completely aired, I would have binge watched it. Could easily become a crowd favourite (if it keeps it up).
Iâm so shocked at all the negative comments! this definitely gave me Forever Love vibes, so if you enjoy a more emotionally mature ML (I would say relationship, but FL isnât emotionally mature lmao), I think youâd enjoy this one. Itâs not a possessive or controlling or rushed love, itâs a slow burn that is kind and understanding and sweet. If you like tension and drama, this one isnât really for you. The last three episodes are really the only dramatic thing (which personally I disliked, but the last episode made up for it). Also, yes SML is a sweetheart and could easily be the lead, but I think itâs what makes the main couple even better. the fact that there is a man without any flaws that wants FL. The idea that someone has to be flawed to get rejected is so overdone and kinda boring.
TLDR: this drama is an easy and light watch that melts slowly but satisfactorily⊠kind of like ice cream. So if you enjoy exciting or toxic or dramatic dramas over something sweet, this probably isnât for you. :)
OMG THE WRITERS ARE SO MEAN FOR FOOLING US LIKE THAT. I was an absolute mess, crying and yelling at the writers. I would have been so mad if they didnât come back with that ending. It was a definite laugh in my face, but Iâm so happy to be laughed at in comparison.
But seriously, that was just CRUEL. Iâm still crying over it.
I went in knowing that the ending wasnât satisfactory, so I pretty much guessed what was going to go down and thus wasnât really let down. Nonetheless, it still WAS disappointing that they disgraced everything that they built in a way that felt a bit heart breaking. That being said, the building of all the relationships and people was a really fun and good watch so I donât regret it.
Just go into it knowing youâll want a better ending.
Jealousy and anger, I'd imagine. I can't imagine what kind of toll it would take on a child (or even a grown person)…
I agree when it's about grown adults with the brain development to acknowledge these things, however since she is still a kid (in high-school no less, when the part in your brain taking note of consequences is still under development and thus you end up making some stupid decisions every once and awhile), these things are a bit out of reach when *really* big emotions are involved. Control on emotions like that comes with time and experience and literal brain development, especially when you have no great role models to show you what that control looks like.
Psychology isn't always fair to innocent people around those who are hurting, but unless someone actively gets her help or she learns healthy tactics to place the anger, it's just going to get worse until she breaks and develops a coping mechanism instead (normally not a healthy one if she's not getting help from anyone) OR is forcefully removed from the situation. Projection is really terrible, but kids need someone to guide them out of unhealthy habits. So blaming her at the end of the day wont help the situation, just make it worse for her psychologically (even if she's scared or threatened into not hurting others, she will only hurt herself instead). Kids like that need someone to take control in a way that aids them both physically and psychologically, and that's by listening and giving her different methods to vent out her emotions--not by making her out to be a bad kid or blame her for everything that she's experiencing. Labels like that breed the behaviour you want to stop. Hopefully her mother smartens up and realizes her daughter should come first before anything else and get her the heck out of that situation so she can learn how to properly regulate herself.
Well from the looks of ep10 trailer Joing Suk will find out about the live child. Also why is that girl fighting…
Jealousy and anger, I'd imagine. I can't imagine what kind of toll it would take on a child (or even a grown person) to know that they will always be second place or less to someone who is supposed to love and protect you. And then to have to see that first place family for yourself everyday or so.... her mom did a terrible and selfish thing to her by moving them where the dad was (although i'm sure the mom truly thought he'd step up and help for whatever delusional reason). And on top of that, you also have to watch the one person who does love and protect you, be hurt over and over again by them all. I don't blame her for her aggressiveness or bad behaviour, without proper healing a kid can't be expected to take all that on without lashing out inappropriately.
It feels like they are just hiding the truth for themselves. Like how are they even able to look into their mom…
True, but I think the son is the only one with purely good intentions. He seems to really not want to see his mom in pain or sick or take on too much at once. But I think the daughter has more factors involved like not wanting her family to break up, and now with the other girl around she probably wants to one-up her by having her parents be together. Not that she also isn't trying to keep her mom from getting hurt, but I think it's just a bit less about selflessness and more about self preservation.... She's just so dependent on her mom and expects so much from her, whereas the son is older and more self reliant and able to separate self-preservation from his mother's wellbeing. He grew on me a lot clearly lol. he just seems like a sweetheart (although he still has more growing and maturing to do to counteract anything his dad passed down to him lol).
I watched this back in march and I haven't been the same since. I swear, I can't get into dramas like I could before watching this. I went on like a hiatus of two months because of it hahah! I wouldn't trade watching it, but gosh it just *does* something to you. Nothing will ever match this masterpiece and I have to come to the sad realization I will never be able to watch this in the same way as watching it for the first time (yes, I've already rewatched it like twice now). I completely understand the obsession over it and if you haven't watched it yet and you're wondering if you should, DO IT. It's worth the pain of never feeling the same joy you once did lmao.
Seriously, this is a true masterpiece. I don't understand how, but from the emotions, adorable scenes, incredible characters, and amazing twisty plotline, it somehow all adds up to unreal heights. Goddammit I love this drama. *cry*
wouldâve rated this a 10 if he wasnât all âyouâre not like other girlsâ the entire time. also felt like…
I agree! But I also loved the contrast in FLs responses to his âyouâre not like other girlsâ. She NEVER belittled other women (except maybe for the dance but even than I donât think she meant to diss any women), and she stood up for all women in general. She didnât act like her way was the best way, she acknowledged that she was just doing her. But you could tell by how she interacted with MLâs ex and even her friend that she had no âIâm not like other girlsâ or âpick meâ intentions. As much as I disliked that those specific misogynistic comments from ML were never acknowledged or corrected, I did like seeing that contrast in views.
wait wait wait, is this not based off a manga?? This feels like one of those live-action movies based on a manga (the kind of movie you have to read the manga beforehand because of how much context and scenes are missing from it). Oh no. It's not?? This was a pretty terrible movie then, honestly. There were like no good transitions between the scenes or context, and the romance was so badly done. Don't get me wrong, the plot had really great potential and if it had those missing scenes, it would have been really fantastic! But idk about you, but I couldn't fall in love with the main couple because we really didn't see them fall in love. One minute they were at most friends with some chemistry, the next they were apparently in love with each other. Like excuse me, I'm missing a lot of cute scenes here *cry* there just wasn't really any warm and fuzzy butterfly feelings for the romance. (and don't get me started on the student/teacher relationship... um, ew).
Anyways, now I'm disappointed because it looked like it would have been a really great manga or anime :(
This was like... unnecessarily hot for high-school based movie (to ease anyone's conscience, ML was like 22 when he did this role). Jeez. I have a fever. I know it's super problematic (hellooo consent?!) but ML was giving me heat flashes regardless (that bath scene?! And what about the thunderstorm scene?! OMG. Seriously they gotta stoppppp).
That being said: there has never been a better time to start a poly lifestyle than with these two MLs. Seriously, we got some BL going between them, too. Hands up if you agree that all three should all just be in a relationship together *raises hand enthusiastically*
'scuse me while I go take a big drink of cold water. Good lordt.

I hate waiting for episodes to drop lol!
