ngl it’s actually getting annoying at this point. every time this actor drops a new drama it’s the same cycle all over again: people nitpicking, comparing, and acting like they get to decide what he should or shouldn’t pick. yeah he was in a big budget drama that hit, but since when does that become the standard for everything he does after?

like… he’s an actor, not a product. he can choose whatever project he connects with. not everything has to be about topping his “best” work. acting is also about trying new things, exploring different roles, and growing. reducing everything to “good choice / bad choice” based on one past success just misses the whole point.

and let’s be honest, he delivers every time. different roles, different vibes, and he still pulls it off. saying he picks bad projects just sounds like people being biased more than anything.

the real issue is people discover an actor in one standout drama and then refuse to move on from it. they keep using that one show as a reference and expect the same thing over and over again. but why tho? an actor isn’t supposed to repeat the same role forever. if anything, doing different stuff is what actually shows talent.

and tbh it just shows how narrow-minded some people are. we literally saw the same thing happen with ahn hyo seop. that drama wasn’t a masterpiece or anything, but it was fun, easy to watch, and overall enjoyable. yeah it had flaws, like most dramas do, but it was still good and his performance was solid. yet if you check the comments people are out there calling him a bad actor or saying he picks trash projects. at that point it’s not even criticism anymore, it’s just people being harsh for no reason.

personally i really liked this drama and thought he did great in it. it might not be what some people expected, but that doesn’t make it bad, it just means he’s doing something different. and honestly that’s what makes his career interesting.

also the drama literally delivers what it promises. it’s a chill slice of life with a bit of romance, good humor, and even some depth if you actually pay attention. it’s not trying to be some grand masterpiece and that’s fine. people seriously need to learn how to watch something for what it is instead of projecting expectations onto it. form your opinion based on what you actually watched, not what you thought it was gonna be. blaming a show for not meeting your expectations doesn’t make sense when those expectations were never promised in the first place. if you go in like that you’re just setting yourself up to not enjoy anything, because you’re constantly waiting for something that was never even supposed to happen.

and honestly thank god i started the drama before seeing the ratings, because i probably would’ve skipped it and missed out. this app lowkey proved to me that a lot of people just can’t rate things with any real critical thinking. when you read reviews it’s mostly emotional reactions, not actual analysis. people jump to extremes way too fast and can’t stay objective, and that’s kinda the problem.

What are you even talking about? k-dramas have always been like this. It hasn’t changed since the 2000s. It’s…
The thing is, you stated your point as if it were an absolute truth. So yeah, it’s normal to argue and debate that. But again, you’re totally free to not like a drama, that wasn’t the point of my comment. I just wanted to explain that making a generalization like that isn’t the right approach and, more importantly, it’s factually incorrect.

Okay but then don’t say “kdramas have become superficial in the last two years” when it honestly feels pretty much the same as before. If anything, I think nostalgia is doing a lot here.

I’m pretty sure if those older dramas dropped today, they’d get dragged just as hard. Back then there just wasn’t as much content with tighter or more polished scripts, so people weren’t as critical.

Again, you’re totally allowed to not like a drama or feel like it’s not your thing, but making that kind of blanket statement just isn’t accurate.

And also, can we talk about how Lee Jae Wook gets dragged every single time? For once, I was actually pretty satisfied with him here. A lot of you are still stuck on Alchemy of Souls and use it as the standard for him, which is honestly unfair. He can choose whatever projects he wants. At least judge him based on his performance.

Why are 99% of K-dramas from the last two years so superficial? The female leads are insufferable, egotistical,…
What are you even talking about? k-dramas have always been like this. It hasn’t changed since the 2000s. It’s the same recycled storylines with romance, love triangles, and slow pacing. That’s literally the classic formula. I don’t get why people keep saying “it’s become like this” when it’s pretty much always been this way.

Sure, there are exceptions every year, but overall it’s still the same overused formula again and again. Boys Over Flowers, Pinocchio, The Heirs, Oh My Venus… I could name so many more.

I really don’t understand the hate toward Sold Out on You and Doctor on the Edge. Honestly, it feels like some of you just discovered dramas for the first time. At this point, it just comes off as hypocritical. You’re totally allowed to not like it, but saying it’s suddenly become bad is just denial when it’s always followed the same patterns.

And honestly, these two dramas don’t even feel “Netflix-coded” at all. If anything, they’re nostalgic and really remind me of older dramas.

Also, can y'all stop with the Lee Jae Wook criticism? It’s always the same complaints from the same bitter people. For once, I actually really liked him in this. You keep dragging him back to Alchemy of Souls like he can’t choose different roles. He has every right to pick the projects he wants, and he’s a good actor. At some point, it’s just getting ridiculous.

Honestly, the negativity in these comments really shocked me. It feels like people are tearing this drama apart with almost no objectivity and even forcing hate onto it.

Yes, it has flaws, and I get that the last three episodes lose a bit of momentum, but overall it’s such a good-vibe, easy and enjoyable watch. Maybe take a step back and try to appreciate it for what it actually is. It’s a slice-of-life with comedy and romance, and it does that well.

For its genre, it’s honestly solid. The way some of you are talking, it’s like you’ve never watched a drama before. Calling it trash is seriously an exaggeration.

This drama and Doctor on the Edge absolutely do not deserve these ratingsI honestly don’t understand it at all. Meanwhile, shows like Perfect Crown and My Royal Nemesis are getting 8.5+? Never trust MDL ratings, honestly. People are really strange sometimes.

Stop saying it’s “just fiction.” Cinema is political the moment it introduces certain ideas. In K-dramas,…
What I’m saying is that people’s reactions are pretty understandable with subtitles like that. You can’t really be surprised people respond the way they do, that’s all.

Guys I don't understand why make it a big deal. I'm sorry but it's fictional, it's just a story. If you take it…
Stop saying it’s “just fiction.” Cinema is political the moment it introduces certain ideas. In K-dramas, I’ve never seen a single positive portrayal of Africans/Arabs. And now they’re bringing up Pakistan and Palestine and once again, it’s framed negatively.

At some point, people get tired of constantly being represented in extreme and inaccurate ways.Given the current context, this kind of portrayal is especially tone-deaf. You can’t expect people not to react it’s completely normal.

This is how misinformation spreads. You’re not affected by it, so of course you don’t fully understand, but I do.

either talk about these topics in a real, meaningful, and accurate way, or don’t bring them up at all. Pushing the “terrorist” image isn’t helping anyone I don’t see who that’s supposed to appeal to.

Yeah, I know, but at that point I wasn’t even replying for him anymore I was just trying to educate anyone who might come across my comments. Honestly, it doesn’t affect me because I know the truth. These people have zero humanity anyway. they can’t have an actual discussion. All they do is insult people and wish death on them.

The fk should i care about some subhumans in my kdrama?
You’re acting like people can only care about one issue at a time, which just isn’t true. People have been talking about Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and plenty of other conflicts for years, even if they didn’t get the same media coverage or online attention. The difference now is visibility, not that people suddenly “started caring.”

Also, bringing up other tragedies to dismiss what’s happening somewhere else doesn’t really strengthen your point, it just deflects. Acknowledging what’s happening in Palestine doesn’t mean ignoring suffering elsewhere, both can be condemned at the same time.

And honestly, you’re the only one here being aggressive, throwing insults around, and making broad generalizations about entire groups. You literally wished death on me and my family, so that whole “caring about people” angle doesn’t really come across as genuine.

That kind of approach just weakens your argument. If you actually care about human lives, the focus should be on that, not on turning it into some competition over who deserves empathy more or using it as a way to attack others.

Yeah, I’m sure Jesus would be really proud of you wishing death on people. Truly a great example of love and compassion.
