I really used to not question the opinion of the critics on this site but when I saw that they have a preference…
yeah after a few years on here, i learned not to rely on the reviews all that much. some dramas that get low ratings, i ended up loving, and vice versa. along with the drama plot preference, i think a lot of reviewers also get hyped and have high expectations (like for this one coming from the popular school series) that they don't necessarily give it the ratings it deserves :// i'm sure a lot of watchers here were fans of the other schools and expected it to be the same as those

despite all the 9-10 ratings, no it's not a perfect show by any means. a lot of the beginning and friend bits were just fodder for some angst. but still, ohmnon surely deserves all the love and praise for their stellar performance. i think people tend to think bl watchers have lower standards, and while i can't say it's untrue, i also think shows like this are huge steps in the right direction. portraying true love with less and less of the toxic tropes bl is known for, showing a more realistic representation of LGBTQ+, showing genuine chemistry between the two leads (+ a believable amount of skinship between two men without it being some softcore stuff). what an incredible way to end 2021 and start 2022.

so please don't go in expecting the whole thing to be a masterpiece. realistically, it's not the BEST plot with the BEST side characters, but it's a leap in the right direction. it's a happy place, if you will. it's mostly cute fluff, after all.

there are so many things i love about this series and patpran, but i simply adore their relationship. a lot of romances make it feel like the main couple getting together is IMPOSSIBLE, having to overcome countless obstacles, side characters, misunderstandings, and such. this was one of the rare dramas that show you you don't need to overcome all those obstacles alone, you can overcome them TOGETHER. you can grow together. even if those around you object or can't understand, they don't need to. i've seen way way too many break ups over tiny misunderstandings that only serve to make the relationship feel fragile. this was a prime example that you don't need a break up to make an ending interesting. patpran felt strong from beginning to end. they never faltered, hesitated, or doubted one another and that was one of the most refreshing aspects.

EVERY ROMANCE NEEDS TO LEARN THIS!!! TWO PEOPLE SHOULD GROW TOGETHER, NOT BRING EACH OTHER DOWN!!! thank you pat and pran for showing us what a wonderfully healthy, happy, and committed couple looks like. i'll miss this series so much :'))

i'm actually really enjoying the split opinions on the characters and plot. it just really goes to show you how perspectives can easily differ from one another, depending on upbringing, values, likes, and dislikes. some people love characters, some people hate them, some are indifferent, or some just tolerate. of course i won't be able to personally agree with everyone else's opinions, but if there's one thing this drama taught me, it's how viewpoints and other's experiences matter. i don't think yeonsu, ung, jiung, or NJ are my ideal type of characters, but i realized i don't need them to be. as flawed as they are, i've learned to accept them, and i think that's the beauty of dramas. i can accept them, others can't, and that's okay. it's all about perspective

i think one of my biggest worries of this is more so how much the original will get overshadowed if this remake turns out to be successful. obviously korean dramas are the most popular and are the most successful, but that would be so unfair to the team of the original ver. it's nice korea recognized such a fantastic drama, but honestly, some things need to be kept standalone. no matter how hard you try, it's doubtful you'd be able to top the original cast and ost. i know they'll probably remake it really well, just part of me kind of hopes they don't :((

i think a lot of people go into this thinking it's a romcom (even though there's no comedy genre), and in doing so, feel disappointed. the thing that i love so much about this drama isn't the heart-fluttering romantic moments like most romances, it's the humanized and flawed characters. no one is "right" or "wrong" or "good" or "bad." this drama is all about perspective. everybody's motivations. actions, and thoughts feels justified. they aren't one-dimensional tropes, they feel REAL. they feel genuinely connected with one another, as if ung and jiung really grew up together or as if ung and yeonsu really fell in love since high school. yeonsu isn't treated like an object to be owned between two men, NJ isn't treated like some b****y obsessed girl who wants to get in the way of the main couple, jiung isn't trying to snatch yeonsu away, ung isn't portrayed as this perfect, incredible, flawless guy. they each have their own faults and merits.

i'm a realism fan so this is right up my alley, but it most likely isn't for you if you're expecting fun tropes and love triangles. it's angsty, it's emotional, it's downright frustrating at times, but it's a journey worth taking and i'm not ready for it to be over :(((

i just want jiung to get the closure he needs with yeonsu so he can FINALLY move on. it's obviously not his fault he still likes her, but he can't just pretend he doesn't or he'll never be able to move on.

i simply do not care about ji ungs arc. they made him only care about yeons su (who is NOT interesting enough…
what other "high quality romcoms" are you referring to?

i really love how they went about pran's character. i feel like too often the "reserved" one in the relationship treats the more flirtatious one horribly out of pride or shyness, but pran has so many caring moments for pat. he doesn't turn cold, he turns soft and playful. it isn't just "reserved one gets mad and flirtatious one has to apologize." they banter, but if pat's feelings are hurt then pran stops and genuinely cares for him. it never feels like it's one-sided or toxically frustrating. that's just one thing i noticed and love about this series

it only really just started dawning on me that the main main character is ung. like he's clearly the main main character, but i feel like i don't see romances primarily from the male lead's perspective very often so i didn't really think much of it until recently

the two fmls are amazing at their personality switch. even though we don't really get to see their original personalities, you can just tell they're acting abnormally from how their bodies(?) usually act. both their portrayals of umine are so unsettling, i love it. also kaga best boy ♡

I found the second episode so frustrating. Why do they always have scenes where the FL pushes the ML away and…
agreed, but to be fair, it was a pretty solid reason tbh. i'm not sure i could handle always being reminded of that snake aileen + cheating bf + stolen song + tanked dream career every time i saw his face

Really? you really don't know why he is admitting it now "many months later"? well here's a possible reason: there…
and again: why do people go straight to calling him an ingenuine liar? i'm not even claiming that he's some saint or that he's truly remorseful. fans are always fed the story filtered by the media. you have no idea who he is, how he feels, or what he's thinking. you also have no idea who the victim is, how they feel, or what they're thinking. he claims he's innocent: people think he's lying. he admits to the truth: people still think he's lying. it's like everyone always WANTS to see the worst in others, esp celebrities.

once you label someone as a "villain" to the story, you never consider the possibility that they aren't. yeah, what if it's a long-term pr stunt to mask more allegations? but........what if it's not and you just fabricated a story to appease your distaste for him? you say people who defend him only defend him as fans or because he's good looking, but maybe you've just been blinded by your bias to see any other perspective or opinion. although my original comment does seem like i'm on his side (was just offering another perspective there, apologies for the confusion if i wrote it in a seemingly biased manner), i am utterly neutral because i will never know the true full story so i have no right to make judgments. also, throwing in past events or evidence, along with your interpretation of them, won't change my mind here so no need to. as per your not-so-nice comments above, no i am not a fan either :D
