After ep 40, I am still asking myself what's the purpose of Jung Hoon character in the series except maybe to annoy and mess things up! And at this point, the constant flashbacks to the kids (they are adorable though) is out of place now because it seems there are lost years growing up esp the teenage years, and no significant memory at all.
I love this, there are some boring parts in the middle, but overall, this is something worth watching. Ning Yi is everyone's hero! Hope season 2 materializes.
If not for the charisma of the actors, I would have rated this series lower. The plot is ridiculous, form the exchange of feelings up to the way of protecting the FL and her subsequent actions in response to that. Anyway, the actors compensated that by their good acting!
Finally finished the series. I said before that this is becoming one of my all time favorite series. But the latter episodes changed my view. The writer tried so hard to make Awu the central character in everything. Xiao Qi, the real hero who enables everything became the supporting character to Awu. The last ep esp made it all about Awu, but she is just waiting to be saved (just like in numerous times). I failed to see the rebel princess character the title suggests. Xiao Qi's epic adventure is more engaging to watch, he went though so much, but came out the hero.
Anyway, I still love the series, the production value and storytelling is topnotch. My rating just went down from 10/10 to 9/10.
I was about to let this pass after watching 2 eps. I can't seem to get into this series. But I hang on and now after ep 14, I can say I am proud I continued on, because the production quality is great! I am now so immersed with the story. I just hope there is more to the current plotline which can last for 40 eps. But I am currently enjoying this. Well of course, the on-point acting makes watching more enjoyable.
Just finished ep 63, and Awu is becoming less and less of a formidable character, she thinks she is a catalyst for peace, but rather she is becoming annoying. A bigger person may want to peace but a mistake must be corrected first.
Anyway, with a few tweaks in the story, this should be focused more on the epic story of Xiao Qui, his story is far more engaging than the stoic Awu, who seems to have just one expression all throughout.
This is plainly boring. It is a universal knowledge that cheating exists, nothing new to that. But to drag eps to somehow give life to how and why partners cheat is simply unexciting. No matter how many reasons the writer tries to put forward as causes of the cheating, it is simply cheating, no more no less.
So basically, I think this season will end with just that, getting married, husbands cheating, divorce, moving on. It happens in many instances, nothing new to that. But I felt the writer is trying to romanticize cheating, hopefully not. Well my running rating for this series drops from 7 to 6.5 after ep 12.
After ep 5, a strong magnet can really be felt pulling these two leads together. And it is only possible because of the excellent story development and great acting. And the subtle jealousy of Phupha is nicely acted. Half way through, waiting for the next ep.
After ep 18, the ML is really becoming the heroic kind everyone is looking for. The story is somewhat exaggerated but in a good way, because each ep is enjoyable. This is awesomely good, the smiles this series brings to me as a viewer is topnotch! Eagerly waiting for ep 19.
After ep 55, this is really becoming one of my all time favorite series. It just takes so long for the Eng subs to come but the wait is worth it. A grand production with topnotch acting. I haven't noticed that I have actually watched 55 eps now. Hope the ending is what I hoped it would be, but nonetheless, each ep is really worth my time!
Finished the series. And since this is a remake, they tried to put in the scenes from the original, but the emotion was lost. This version retold the story, tried to make it cute, but somehow, I didn't feel the scenes, most of them are too short to engage the feelings. The ML looks too young and the FL looks too mature to act cute. And the well-loved Wu Bo Song is lost here.
Anyway, there are a few good moments, but overall, it is mediocre.
Ep 30, and the story-line is still the same, they are adding scenes but only to emphasize the same unrequited love and the same pathetic characters , it is tiring to watch the plot going over and over with minimal or no character development at all. This series could have been better with a mere 12 episodes and nothing will be missed.
Finished the first 8 eps, and boy, this is a fun ride, the concept of matrilocal husband is cool and the ML fits the role perfectly well. The actor gives his own charm to the character, the story is a breath of fresh air and direction is distinct to the director, reminding me of his past excellent series. Waiting for ep 9.

Anyway, I am hanging on just to see the end.
