Yeah, that's what I suspect too - no BG romance. Nonetheless, it's very entertaining, very Jackie Chan (if you know what I mean) especially in the chasing game, fighting choreography etc.
cant moved on from this drama.. keep on thinking about xiao song

I for one like the way Alan Yu portrays his character. A cold facade with quite some fire inside his tender heart.…
I like cold facades too as in Ye Hua of Eternal Love or Lu Yi of Under the Power. But how they move is totally different from how a robot does, and Yu Menglong is more akin to a plank, as one viewer puts it :D
so... would you like it better if most characters are short, fat, and dark skinned?
".....short, fat,....." hahaha! That's funny!
One of the many reasons I don't like to watch pre-2010 dramas (of course there're exceptions) because I find those actors putting on too much makeup with men usually having panda-look faces and women blue/pink eye shadows. and awfully red cheeks. Though many actors are good, I also find them overact.
Yes, I'm one of those skin-deep viewers who look for pretty faces before I decide to watch a drama. There are just too many shows out there and it's hard to make an intelligent selection, so for me, how the actors appeal to me plays a major criteria in my selection. Of course pretty faces with no acting skills get dumped right away.
For The Untamed, one of the most appealing factors for me is how the characters are portrayed by these actors visually. The production team has successfully achieved this visual aspect in making the whole drama very celestial - the main leads do not look like normal humans like us. Coupled with the beautiful music played by the instruments of the 2 main leads, I don't think there's another drama out there that can match such beauty. After all, we humans love beautiful things in life, beautiful men no exception :D
