I absolutely adore Jung Cha Ran. It's so refreshing to see actually likeable secondary characters.

I failed to understand a single person’s real motives behind any action or dialogue. There didn’t seem to be a single character who acted on personal reason other than plot points that needed to be checked. The romance interests seemed to come out of nowhere. This seems to be the case with most Chinese historical dramas I’ve attempted to watch. Maybe they’re just not the right fit for me.

So now that dementia trope? i wish The screenwriter had some original ideas to put on her work my goodness this…
This is one of the only times the dementia actually works in the context of the story of a kdrama. To show a woman who has always gotten things under control, someone whom everyone figures is "ice cold" and knows everything, have to deal with something as confusing to her as this is a great way to show the family dynamic.

Even though I knew dramas tend to be quite inaccurate, specially when it comes to medical plots, I didn't expect even the general concepts to be so misinformed. I'm definitely going to pay more attention when watching dramas where they include an organ transplant storyline in the future and try to evaluate the accuracy.
This was a great article.
Reading @shiro articles are always incredibly entertaining but this one takes the cake for me as it is very informative and written relating to experiences of @shiro herself which makes this one even more special. Great job to both @shiro and @starflakes.

So when I saw your post on feeds I finally watched this after having it on ptw for so long.
When you mentioned how you knew how it was gonna end ,I imagined the whole plot and I was scared it wasn’t gonna live up to my expectations ;but I was so wrong.
I loved every character and specially the parents. Their acting was superb and I was so pleasantly surprised how genuine the family dynamics felt when compared to similar films. The callback to the dad fixing the wobbly table leg because they couldn’t afford a new table made me cry so hard for some reason.
The adventure montage was a perfect example of how a montage is supposed to be done in this kind of film.
Beautiful movie!

I was enjoying this series for a couple of episodes but then.. It got really boring. The story didn't make sense from the very beginning and I had to turn my brain off to enjoy the legal aspects of the story and everything was incredibly predictable, BUT I enjoyed the beginning. That being said, I couldn't forgive the biggest problem with this drama :the fact that they turned the FL into just a love interest for the ML at some point and her choices became more and more stupid just so the ML could fix up her messes. Ji Chang Wook's character was likable but not interesting enough to fill 20 something episodes I had to watch to finish the show.
If you're fine with dropping dramas and want to watch this because you've seen it everywhere, watching 4 or 5 episodes before dropping would be a good choice.

Wait so heedo couldn’t bare loving someone who was so consumed by his job like her mom but her husband is always away on business trips anyways?
I’m not saying they should’ve ended up together but the logic in the last two episodes showing how they loved each other so very much but had to break up for that reason doesn't add up
The present timeline was utterly useless but I still love the show

Why everyone assumes that she didnt marry BYJ??? Nothing was confirmed to me
The last two episodes were literally them falling apart and breaking up I…
I wrote this and then realized this was probably a joke but I’m still gonna post the comment and look like an idiot because I’m mad after watching the last episode.

Dislike - domineering families.Parents or sometimes siblings who decide what or who the adult ML or FL must do/date/marry/study…
I think it’s mostly for dramatic effect (annoyingly dramatic) rather than the asian culture. I’ve seen the same tropes play out in western romances too but maybe more westernized.

Yeah I get it. I thought it was overrated then but it’s really fun!

I dropped this at ep3 a while back. I just picked it back up and I love it! If you're bored at the beginning I'd suggest you give it a couple of episodes before dropping.

The way this series is shot is very distracting. Using a Dutch angle shot is supposed to make the viewer feel uneasy or signal that something is wrong or about to go wrong; but they use it in every shot of the ML.
